Creating Templates and Updating Navigation Bars

I'm creating a new web from scratch and I'm running into
some problems.

The website I have created will be 4 levels + the
homepage. I have created my own templates for each page
and the homepage. Each page has basic information in the
left nav bar that will change every 6-8 months.

When I update my nav bars, I want to only update one
page. In Dreamweaver, I use to update only my server
side include page and every page that had a server side
include would update. I know MF2002 must have a tool
similar to Dreamweavers SSI.

I was told by one individual that I should create my
template, and just "Insert/File" into a blank page and
this would solve my problem. I tried it but when I went
back and changed the template, the change didn't appear
in the new page.

Please help because i have been banging my head for the
last two weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can still use SSI (if your host supports SSI)
- a change in the SSI will change all pages on the server using .shtml and the SSI
- but it is server intensive

Or you can use Include Pages
Make each nav bar a separate page and use Insert Web Component Include Content Page
- when you change the nav bar page you will have to republish all affected pages
