I would like to develop a PowerPoint slide show using
graphics from a multi-media e-learning program. The
graphics use colors that are not in the standard Windows
256 color pallet. The PowerPoint file would be provided
to users as an attachment to an e-mail message. They
would save the file to their hard drive and run it from
there.

I think I have these options:

1. Ask users to set their computer color to 16 bit or 32
bit.
2. Don't worry about the color setting. If the computer
color is at 8 bit (256 color palette), then my graphics
will look grainy.
3. Ideally, I would place a customized color palette in
PowerPoint so that the slide show uses my 256 colors
rather than the default colors from Windows. My question
is: can I do this? Is there anyway I can cause
PowerPoint to use my color palette?

Thanks.

If you modify the palette in PPT and they have PPT to open that PPT file, the palette should still be there (if their monitor
resolution is correct)

Thanks for the response, Stefan.

I don't see how the palette in PPT can be modified. If I
create a rectangle and fill it, I am limited to the colors
on the color wheel (about 130) plus the grays below it. I
need to fill the rectangle with a color that is not in the
color wheel.

I can click "custom color" and enter the RGB numbers that
I need, but the colors that are available are still
limited to the wheel (plus maybe a few more). I assume
that these colors are from the PPT default palette. I
have graphics software (Debabelizer Pro) that will create
a different palette that contains the colors I need, but I
don't see how to insert a new palette into PPT.

Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Jim

You're right - it's Excel that lets you edit the palette
