I'm running a web site off my local hard drive and I want to use components
that require the server extensions. I downloaded the latest ones but it
still says that my components won't work without them installed. How do I

Database change
I want to add a field to my front page database. Adding
the new column to database is no problem. When I go to
results form to add new field via "Insert Database Column
Value", the new field I added in database does not appear
in drop down list? As we all know, we can't use wizaed to
do these updates. How do I modify my database after

FP, Access, & Uploading Images
I have used the wizard and create a page that returns
queries, another allowing the user to enter records. I
now want to be able to have the user upload an image into
the database. I assume the best way is to have a button
to browse to locate, then upload.
I have an alumni site that really needs to have the
ability for the users to upload images, please help. I
have had several requests for this and I cannot figure out

Adding new user to database from Web registraton

Hi:
I recently downloaded some ASP pages with Access database verifying and
adding Web site users.
I managed to make most of them work except for the last step of adding new
registrant to the database and return for an "anewmember.asp"
This is basically how those codes works:
(1) Login.asp: Login screen for registered user to type in their ID and
password. Data will be sent to "Member.mdb" for verification. If passed,
it will redirect to another page. If not, it will return to the
registration form again. This part has no problem. There are sample data
in the database, and if I typed the correct one, I will be directed to the
protected page. If not, I will be redirected to another registration form.
***I guess this meant that the database - Member.mdb can be read if I can
check on its data***
(2) Signup: This is the problem. After filled out registration form and
pressed "Submint," it will be redirected to a "Confirm.asp" where user can
confirm all information and if right, click "Confimr" to process the data
and upon completion, an "anewmember.asp" will be displayed.
Here is the error message after pressed "Confirm button"

Drop down box retains last selected value
I am trying to create a drop down box that when the user comes to the website, the drop down boxes values are the last values that the user selected. My website is published on Geocities and it seems like Frontpage functionality on some things are limited. The only way that I have found so far to do this is using a javascript that I found that uses cookies. This works great, until the user logs in from another computer. Sharepoint Lists ... subweb cannot display
I have a sharepoint site with subwebs. I have made the data connection to the root web and try to display lists
The only lists that will work are those that do not have lookups

File upload permissions
I have a file upload added and it asks for a username and
password in order for it to work. When I right click on
the folder in FP, the options to "allow anonymous upload
to this directory" and the others are grayed out. In
fact, all the folders in the site have those properties
features grayed out!???? I am lost. Anyone know what I
am doing wrong?

Form Confirmation Screen
I created a form that has a designated Form Conformation screen to go to after submitting. The problem is it goes to a generic screen first...how do I skip that screen?

hyperlink to open an Excel Template as an xls file
I have a hyperlink to an Excel template. Problem is when I click on it the
browser opens Excel with the file as a template instead of as an Excel file.
I don't want the users changing the template I want Excel to function in the
way it normally does when you double click on a template in windows
explorer.
I have seen a couple of posts re opening Excel outside the browser but that
means having access to all the PC's and changing their config, something
that is not realistic.
Is there anyway to either
Open Excel inside the browser with the template as an xls file
Or
Make the hyperlink open Excel outside the browser without having to change
the PC configuration.

onload & window attributes?
I am using the onload command, <body onLoad="window.resizeTo(?,?);", to set the size of a window opening up. I would also like to tell the window to have the toolbar off and other stuff. Can this be done with onload? This window is opened by many pages in the site and is called from a imagemap link...I would rather do it via onload so I don't have to edit all the other pages. Database results on FP website
How do I select from multiple records, by date, and the
remainder of the data from that record will populate other
parts of the results page? example... I have 2 records
with the dates as the primary key. I wish to select from

problems posting a word document on a web page
I want to post a word document onto a web page. I copied the document to a
folder set it as read only, then added a button onto a web page that linked
to the document.
This works fine, except when i go to hit back, it asks for a user and
password. If i hit cancel it gets me back, but how do i make it so the

form: creating bottomline-only text box, up/right/left border
I'm trying to create a text box, to submit names and such. I go into the form properties, adjusting the border to have only the bottomline border show up. When I click okay and go to look at it in preview, there is the ridged/default border around it still, including the bottomline in the color I chose. Force files to download only, not view in browser
Is there a way with a FrontPage file link to force that
file to download only without being able to view? My
situation is that I have Word files on my website that I
want my users ONLY to download - not open in the IE Word
viewer. Can this be done? I do not want to create zip

Forms and Calculated Fields
Hi,
I have a FrontPage Form with a bunch of questions. I have
also setup a confirmation page - no problems.
The confirmation page has confirmation fields. Depending
on the end-user's selection the confirmation fields may
say "CORRECT!!".
MY QUESTION:
a. Is it possible to create an additional field that can
count the number how many times the word CORRECT!! is the
confirmation field result?
b. if the above is not possible, is there a FrontPage
Testing template or Testing or calculation field Add-in
that can be sourced or purchased?

to find out their total score.

SQL UPDATE problem with FP database wizard
I'm trying to do an SQL UPDATE on an Access database using the FP
database wizard. The database connection is working OK, using the wizard
to do lookups works fine.
The SQL query I'm putting into the wizard is:
UPDATE users SET activated = 1 WHERE (user = ::user::)
::user:: is a form field "user", which I have tried passing to the page
containing this script using both GET and POST.
However, all I get is this error:
Database Results Error
Your page contains a query with user input parameters that could not be
resolved.
This could happen if your DatabaseRegionStart webbot has an empty or
missing s-columnnames or s-columntypes attributes.
You may need to read Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 817029.
Article 817029 refers to FrontPage 2003, which I am NOT using, I'm using
FrontPage 2002, and the server is Windows 2000 SP4 running the default
FP server extensions, I haven't upgraded them.
If I change the ::user:: to "0" in the SQL string, the error goes away
but of course I get "No records returned".

Database interface Wizard
I am trying to connect to an MSSQL database. The Table I need to work with has a timestamp field. The Wizard fails when it connects to the table as that is an unsupported datatype
Quick solution use a view in MSSQL and leave that field out
But the wizard won't allow the creation of interface pages on a view

FP 2003 Slower than 2002
I've recently upgraded to FP 2003 from 2002 and when I
type content in Design View there is a few seconds delay
before the letters appear. This never happened with the
earlier version. Even though I eventually see all that
I've typed the few second delay drives me nuts.
The larger the file/page the longer the delay. I know
there could be more critical problems/bugs to deal with
but this one is annoying none the less.

send form results to file doesn't work
I have a form set up to email results, however I also want
the results sent to a file (.txt or .csv) on the web
server. This seems so basic, however I haven't been able
to get this to work--email is fine, but as soon as I set
up the form to additionally send info to the file, the
submit button returns an error page "Front Page Error".
Am I missing something?

Delete a record from SQL server
Im triying to delete a record from a Microsoft SQL database, im following
instructions from an article published in Microsoft Knowledge base 240200,
but when I try to delete the record I get the following error message:

javascript: icon gets lost - bookmark this page

Navigation problem after playing MP3 file

I've created a connection to a very simple Access dbase

Multiple Form Pages
Dear All,
I have done a form that takes the users' detail and submits it as an email
to me. However this is only a single page
I am trying to have multiple pages like the flow below
Page 1 - user types in their detail
Page 2 - user types in their hobby, interest
Page 3 - user types in their occupation
Page 4 - a submit page where all the values from the 1-3 pages are pack
together and sent to me via email
Can this be done in FrontPage? How do i pass the values from one page to
another until the last one.
If possible, it would be great to even go backwards if there is a need of

help in password entry to new links
I added a text box; told the menu's what passowrd of 3
digits to plug in. I then link to a new page of other
material. If I don't plug inthe correct text; then an IE
windows message box pops up saying waht the expected
password entry should be. ?? Great aye !!!

I have created a form in FP XP, that i am saving the
results to a .csv file. I am having multiple locations
access this form, and would like to have the .csv file
named according to the users login to the form, and date

A question about graphics hyperlinks.
I've scanned the NG, and can't seem to find an answer to my problem...
Okay. I'm a semi-newbie with FrontPage, and I currently use FrontPage
2000, and I'm having a problem!
I wanted to add a hyperlink to one of my pages (to another page,) and
went to the page, itself, in mozilla, and saved the index.htm file that
I wanted to append to, to a different file on my hard drive than the
original folder containing all my web design files. When I opened it up
to edit it in Front Page, all the image hyperlinks had been reverted
back to the directory in which I saved the index.htm file.
I did my revisions, and then saved it, uploaded it, then checked it out
in mozilla. Apparantly, all the image hyperlinks had been linked to
where FP saved it on my hard disk. (specifically, to the index_files
sub-folder that was created by mozilla in the folder where I saved the
page to my hard drive.)
My question is this: Can I do a "mass change" on the url directory in
which all my images are in, instead of having to go back through every
image (about 30) and change the link? Is there any way to do it all in
one process?

ASP bookmark woes
I'm getting a little desperate here...
I've built an .asp page using Frontpage 2003 that contains an alphabet list of hyperlinks that will (ideally) connect to bookmarks inside of a table containing a list of countries - one country per table cell.
The problem I'm having is that the links jump down the page just fine from within the Frontpage preview window, but do not work when previewing in a browser (I.E. 6.0 in my case). I can convert the page to .html and the links work just fine - however I do have example pages on our corporate intranet that seem to be effectively using bookmarks with .asp pages, so it seems to be possible. I've compared the source code for these pages against the source for my page (as generated by Frontpage) and see no differences in syntax. I'm limited to .asp when designing pages for our intranet, so I can't simply change formats.
I'm at the end of my rope - any suggestions would be very welcome.
