    - publishing website to server problem Hi All I've been using FP 2003 for ages and never had a problem publishing my updates. Now though, my local server list is showing blue question marks beside each htm page! I pressed 'continue' and the site published ok with no apparent errors noted on the actual website, but i'm really curious as to why this has started happening.     - Video I have two questions I need help with. We have been recording some training sessions and would now like to post them on our site. What I have been doing is just importing the file into our site and doing a link back to the file for people to click on to watch the video. Is that the correct way to do this? I have read a couple of posts that talk about using the insert>picture>video to bring the file in.? Also the recorded sessions are about 2 hours long from the original file. The file size is huge! What I have been doing is editing the file with Movie Maker and publishing the file back out to my PC and then import it to our site. The file size is ends up being about 512MB. Too big! My original file size is about 110MB so I am not sure why my edited file is larger?     - tables I was working on some forms in Publisher when it was suggested to me that, in order to stabilize the forms, I use tables in Frontpage. I opened the program for the first time about two weeks ago, & the advice proved to be correct. By using tables tohold a header, nav buttons, etc. around the form, everything stayed where I put it. My forms are done. Now I'm just dabbling with the program. It seemed to me that the easy way to lay out a page would be to create one large grid, with lots of cells, & merge the cells to form the spaces that I wanted to use. I could just change widths, heights, & merge. I've done this, but now don't seem to be able to affect the width of the cells involved. The page itself is 100%, but the cells won't change, either as a percentage, or as fixed widths. The program is FPXP. Two questions. First, why are the cells height & width seemingly "locked"? Second question would be, why is my initial plan, with a large, multi-cell grid a bad idea? It obviosly is, (a bad idea), but why? Tag: No page Displayed Tag: 909324

    - Parsing Error, with Front Page .... Get the following error, each time I publish my site using Front Page: The server sent a response which FrontPage could not parse. If you are trying to connect to a FrontPage Server, check with the server's administrator to make sure the FrontPage Server Extensions are installed properly. This error began showing, a few weeks ago. Host unable to solve, as implied it should, but trying hard. Host reset FP extensions.     - Java script link.... I've a JS slide show where I would like the last jpg image to have a navigation menu with links to other pages on this web. I don't think I can add links to a jpg image, so I was thinking it may be possible to have the images overlay the menu until the last image when the menu would show through.     - FTP Publishing and Trojan Horses I've got two sites that run w/o FP extensions on two different servers, so I publish to their ftp address. During uploads, my Norton Anti-Virus will randomly pop-up a window that it has blocked a Trojan Horse, related to an FP process. The upload is temporarily blocked, but resumes after I click on "OK". This probably happens about 50% of the time I upload to these servers, but I have not been able to figure out why sometimes and not others. Both servers are professionally managed and scans with NAV, adaware, etc have not turned up a problem, but it's still never a good feeling.     - Preventing Duplicate Users Hi there I've created protected ASP pages in my website following instructions in article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825498 Users are prompted to log on or register if they aren't already registered. The registration form is split over two ASP pages. The first page simply asks for email address, username and password and, on submit, posts to the second ASP page. The second page asks the user for contact details (name, address etc.) I would like the first page of the registration to check the database to find if there are any records with the same username or email address before posting to the second page. If the username or email address already exists, I want to return an error prompting the visitor to try another username or email address. I've set the properties of these fields in the access database to disallow duplicates. However, if a visitor enters a username or email address that already exists in the Access Database, the record is not added to the database but the user is unaware and can complete and submit the registration form.     - cut 'n paste Javascript into BODY & getting it to validate I use cut 'n paste Javascripts. The validators dont like these. I found that, for those which are loaded in the <head></head> that the simple process of linking it from an external file seems to validate and the JS works.     - Upload photo from user to us Hi Not sure really if this is possible or (more likely) I'm thinking about it in the wrong way. I have an application form that saves input to an access db. I need people to also send me a photograph of themself (just a face shot for a liftpass in a ski resort). I know that storeing a photo in access is a "big" mistake but I hope to somehow have a "upload photo" button on the page and then (not really sure how) they could browse to a photo on their hard drive and upload it to me.     - Navigation bars not showing in browser after publishing intranet I am using a windows xp professional computer to host an intranet. I use Frontpage to design the site. I am using shared border feature. When I publish, link navigations bars don't show in a browser when I view the published page in a browser. When I am publishing, the following message comes up. 'The following pages in your website contain link bars or navigation bars that use new navigation options. They will not display properly because the server you are pubishing to does not suppot these features. I checked the microsoft website for help and the Technet site has advice on how to intstall sharepoint from the XP cd. However, when I tried to, there was no sharepoint folder in the XP cd.     - Cannot log onto site due to "too many pages" for FP Our host is web.com (formerly Interland.com). Today I could not log onto our site to update two pages, receiving the FP error message: Unable to open <website>.com Possible causes: 1. The web server may not have the FPSE installed. 2. The web server may be temporarily out of service. 3. If you are connecting through a proxy server, the proxy settings may be incorrect. 4. An error may have occurred in the web server. When I log on to our Control Panel and try to do a Fix/Check of the FPSE it fails with a similar message. Our Email contact form is not working, so the FPSE are broken (they worked yesterday). We do not connect through a proxy server. After this happened over several hours I called Web.com. Their tech support (in Columbia, South America) told me FP has a size limit of 1000 pages and I have 1054 pages. I know from reading a posting by Ron Symonds ("Ronx") that FP has no page limit (thanks, Ron!), so I am about to call them back and go another round with them. Can anyone suggest any cause for this that is my fault? Something I can do? Or is the only thing I can do is convince Web.com to reboot the server, etc.?     - language tags not being hidden in preview on frontpage I have a web page that has code where the first line is English and the second line is another language, with tags around it to show the different languages. Every .htm page in FrontPage? Can you double-click it in Windows Explorer
and have it open? Can you right click and Open with... and pick another
application?
