    - How to control size of page display in IE? How do I control the size of the page content display in IE? As an example of what I want to achieve, the display of www.msn.com is centered on the screen in a fixed sized box. On each side of the display is background color. On my FP 2002-produced website (www.fayetteinsider.com) the text fills the entire screen and expands/contracts as the size of the window is varied.     - Set zoom size of the normal view pane I'm using FP-2000 and have about 20 pages that has a single image of a town map on each. I've created polygon hyperlinks over the property lot (irregular shapes) on the map(s). Each hyperlink has 6 query parms that is passed to an access DB to access the property information. I have a new set of maps that are 95% the same as the old maps. I can double click on the image on the page in FP and open a popup window in MS image composer. I then insert the replacement map in the place of the old map, exit, and save. The new maps are the same size as the old maps and only has a few changes in the lot boundries. Back at the FP window in the normal view the map is larger than the screen (need the larger size to see the details) so I have horizontal and verticall scroll bars. The normal pane (pain) is after adjusting the points on the polygon hyperlink the screen "jump" back up to the top. So for each point I have to scroll back down (and/or) over to edit the next point on the hyperlink. Multiple points on each property, 10-50 properties per page = lots of up-n-down, right-n-lefts. I haven't found anything in FP help so my guess is the answer is "no"; but, is there a way to "zoom" out (like in Powerpoint) or set the normal screen size such that it doesn't flip back up to the top each time I edit a polygon hyperlink point?     - FrontPage 2003 opens only in Safe Mode - Reinstate to Normal Mode? I have FP 2003 installed on each of my Main desktop computer (Win XP SP2, IE7) and my laptop (Win XP SP2, IE7). The program functions well on my desktop, but some six weeks ago, it started behaving abnormally. I have been searching user group and related tech help websites for some time now to find a solution to this "Problem Encountered" at opening problem. At about the same time, I had a problem with upgrading NIS 2004 to NIS 2008 on my desktop, but not on my laptop. I did experience some difficulties with the installation of Norton System Works 2008 on my laptop, but the problems were eventually resolved. Using NWS 2008 Detect and Repair Problems did not resolve the FP 2003 problem. I have followed all of the advice from many different helpful sources, but to no avail. I have run many anti-malware programs (all the latest versions), none of which resulted in a solution. I have uninstalled and re-installed FP 2003 at least twice, but the program still behaves in the same manner, i.e. opens only in Safe Mode, with the associated deficiencies (some options not available from previously set ones, and will not automatically load the last saved website.     - Large table in web page Hi, I have to insert a large table with hyperlinks into a page in FrontPage 2003 and unfortunately, copying and pasting the cells in from Excel has been the only way I can retain the formatting I need. If I save the Excel sheet as a web page and make it an included web component, I lose most of the formatting (lines no longer wrap in cells and text gets cut off and the fonts are not right.) Copying and pasting the cells in makes the page huge and it takes a long time to download. I have broken the table into smaller pages for faster download speeds but we still want to offer the entire list (table) as one page. Is there a better way to do what I need to do?     - No controls with webcomponent - Flash movie I posted this in FP addins and realized I should have put it here (didn't mean to double post). I've inserted a web component "flash movie" and it plays just fine, but it doesn't have the skin (with play/stop/audio controls). What's the secret to making this work. It previews with Flash and the skin displays there fine, but I don't know how to make it work in FrontPage. I copied the skin swf file to the same directory where the movie swf file is. What is causing this dark outline and how do I get rid of it? Secondly, some of his font on the left hand border is white. In design view, it appears to be the same dark blue, but when I view it in a browser, the font turns white. What is causing this? Thirdly, how can I get the hyperlinks to *not* be underlined? Lastly, I see that the second line, right under the title need to be made larger. I thought they were larger in design view, but again, in the browser, the font appears quite small. I lied - I just spotted one MORE thing that needs work. I can't figure out what is causing some of the extra lines in the table on the left. I had added extra rows in the table, because the index, as sent to me, seemed to be a series of what I would call "run together thoughts". It was hard for me to try to figure out what he had going on. An email exchange told me that when he centered the text, he felt that was a "title" with the subheadings all right justified. I thought that he probably needs to have some blank space between the different headings and subthoughts. (I couldn't follow his thought process without his explaining to me, so I would guess the next average person couldn't figure it out either.) In the 2 blank cells (rows) that I added on the left, I have a line at the top of the first one, and a line to the left of the second. I can't figure out what is causing THIS either.     - What after FrontPage? I have been using FrontPage for a number of years now to run a simple web site for my orgnisation. My hosting company now tells me they are withdrawing FrontPage Server Extensions at the end of July! That is a real pain for me as I have now develpment skills and have used FrontPage for its simplicity. I use forms and other FrontPage features that require extensions, so if I have to make a change now, do I go for something entirely differenty. I have downloaded the trial version of Expression Web and DreamWeaver, and neither seem as simple as FrontPage.     - Help With Layers Okay - so I'm trying to put in a layer in front page - I've never used the FP layers before, and so I've been reading some tutorials to see how to accomplish this, and I've made much progress already. However, on the page I'm setting up, I can get the layer almost exactly where I want it, but it seems to want to put some extra space above it that I can't quite figure out how to get rid of. If you look at http://ippfa.onelily.com/ - you'll see what I"m talking about. There is a random image that serves as the background in the table directly below the logo/text table at the top. It's 909 x 150. On top of it I have put in a layer that is also 909x150 and there is a table inside that layer that has a blue background w/ text ... " I want to"... with some options below (which will be clickable when I'm done). The problem as you'll see is the space that now shows up above that table and layer - it's 150px tall. The code I have is... <div style="position: relative; width: 909; height: 150; z-index: 1; left: 0px; top: 150px" id="layer1"> If I change the top:150px then the layer moves up, but the table w/ the random image stays in that same space.     - Disappearing Content I have been using FP for over 8 years, and run a web design company, and have built over 300 websites using FP. We currently maintain about 200 websites - so I guess I'm trying to say that under ordinary circumstances I'm pretty proficient with FrontPage and don't seem to run into any challenges that I can't figure out. HOWEVER... I'm completely stumped on something that is happening right now. I have one site in particular that is causing me problems, www.tgifurniture.com. We built this site 3 years ago, and have worked in the site (maintenance) at least once a month every since, and have not had any problems with the website, until now. The site is 150 plus pages... and the problem we're having seems to be consistent, but random, if that makes sense. Meaning it happens often, but is on random pages. So, let me see if I can explain... I'll open a page, for example, this page... http://www.tgifurniture.com/contact_us.htm (but it could be any page, including the home page). The page has content (some pages also an inline frame), and it uses a bottom shared border (none of this is new). When I open the site in FP, I see the full content of the page, the shared border -- but also right above the shared border is a repeat of the border in the main content area. If I go to code view, suddenly there is nothing there except the content in the head, then the body tag (w/ some background info set), and then another body tag (sometimes 3-7 opening body tags, then the closing body and closing html. If I don't catch this, and publish the website (or that page), the page is now blank on the web. So before I make changes or publish that page, I have to copy the content in design mode, come into code view and remove the extra body tags, then go back to design and paste the content. Then if I look at code everything is as it should be, and I can upload the page with no problems. I can't figure out why it keeps losing my content in code view (although it's there in design view), why it's giving me extra body tags -- and why it's so darn random. I can open up the same page 5 times and all is good, then suddenly the next time it's messed up (even if I've not edited a single thing). Can someone please help me with this.     - sum after vlookup? I have all the dates of the year in a column with a $ amount asociated with the date in the column next to it. How I imagine this working is vlookup a Starting date and then sum the following 2 dates after including that day (3 total days). Any idea if there is a preexisting function that will do this? i put a simple password script into a site...

it looks like it will work but anyone can simply view the page source and
see the user name and password to copy...

sorry i am a neophyte but is this easily fixable?

The only way to fix it is to implement a different security method

Ideally you will need to use a server side script, or protected folders.
IF you have FrontPAge extensions on your site, and your host supports
unique permissions and subwebs, then see

To Protect individual pages: (Requires Windows Server with support for
ASP and Access database)

A similar technique using PHP and mySQL can be used for individual
pages.

If you must use JavaScript (this is not recommended since it is very
insecure) then the methods outlined at
http://rxs-enterprises.org/tests/jspass/ may be better than the method
you have now.
