Have you reviewed the overviews of each program on their respective product
pages?
My perspective is that Sharepoint Designer is geared more for the person
developing websites for an intranet and those who are targeting Sharepoint
technologies. Expression Web is for folks who design websites for others for
a living. VWD Express that the Anonymous poster is a 1GB program, compared to
Expression Web 2 which is just over 100mb. VWD Express is for the budding
developer, not web designers.
Expression Web 2 supports PHP and Photoshop file import - these are both
highly desirable features for web designers, but not for the VWD Express type
developer oriented user who will be focused on .net stuff, or the Sharepoint
user who will be focused on Sharepoint stuff.
