flash video wont display on 1 page
I have a video that I am trying to put on the home page of my website.
I converted it from AVI to FLV.
I got a program that will take teh FLV file, and then spit out teh code for
me for the player interface etc..
(works great I might add)
Anyway, so I put the code for teh video (and I uploaded teh video file) on
my home page.
It does not display, it only shows a black box where teh video should be.
I created a new page, and copied teh video code there. it works perfectly
fine.
But again, it wont display on my home page.

Front Page Extensions Installed Cannot Log In Cavtel
I am trying to publish a site http://www.snacktimeservice.com
I can FTP to the site, but cannot log in using FrontPage or SharePoint
Services. The site is hosted by cavtel.net and I have been on the phone with
them for weeks and they promise that the Front Page extensions are installed
- even to the point where they uninstalled the extensions and re-installed
them. They told me what my username and password is. But when I try to log
in, it won't let me past the username/password. Cavtel tells me that there

Navigation bar options disappearing
Ok, I designed a page in Yahoo Site Builder (dumb, I know) then transfered it
to FP 2002, with a few problems of course. My site uploads and all of the
hyperlinks work fine, but once I move over them with the cursor, the words
disappear and a little "jpeg" type of symbol appears in the upper left corner
where the link was. By clicking on each hyperlink and selecting "Cell
Properties" I can select the same image to appear in the background, but even
then the word for the hyperlink is visible but has they little symbol over

Stuck icon
I have been working with FrontPage since 2000 when that edition first came
out. But I have never run into this problem and cannot figure out how to fix
it. You know the pencil/pointer icon that you use to draw tables, insert
text boxes, etc. Well, it's like it's stuck on that icon and I cannot do
anything because all it does is insert text boxes. I need it to return to
the regular cursor so that I can type text, insert pictures, etc. Please

I need FORWARD and BACKWARD Arrows for some pages, not all

Text Does Not Fit in Contents Pane in Normal View

forms confirmation page
I have all my forms working great ( thanks to all you guys) except for one
small problem. I created a thank you page as a confirmation page but when
ever the form is submitted the confirmation page opens in the middle of the
page instead of at the top of the page. Since the only thing on the page is
a header and the thank you text, the page generally looks like a blank white
page to the user. Ever other page on the site opens at the top...how can I

Cascading drop down boxes
I would like to create 3 drop down boxes which do the following:
- The first box looks against a field from a Data Source in Sharepoint.
- Based on what is selected in the first box, the second box shows another
field from the Data Source but based on the flter by the first box.

Where to After Frontpage?
I have Office 2007 installed in Vista and a cd with Frontpage 2000 (part of
office 2000 cd). I have four fairly simple Frontpage generated webs to
maintain.- none have FP extensions.
Where do I go from here?

- buy MS Expressions
- buy Adobe Contribute ? - might be called something else?
- Adobe Dreamweaver (would it be able to maintain a site developed in FP?

Track changes
Once again Microsoft fails. Somehow Track Changes became activated on my
document (I never went NEAR the menu button) and even after I TURN IT OFF the
document STILL shows the changes in red.
You need to TURN ON Track Changes again, ACCEPT the freaking changes then
TURN OFF Track Changes to remove them.
Idiotic programming like this is going to drive me back to WordPerfect.

Adding layout cells to a webpage
I am new to FrontPage. When I draw a layout cell on a webpage I am working
on, FrontPage is actually adding a grid of nine blocks (it looks like a tic
tac toe board). The grid is the color of the border I have put on the
perimeter of the format table. Is there a setting I have missed? The
Microsoft Office Online training makes it look so easy, but something is not

Hidden Web Server Files
Hidden folders were used when a website I maintain was created. For example,
_content or _auxillary. I had to reinstall Frontpage and create the website
on my drive again, and I can't remember how to get those hidden webserver
folders to show up! I did the Tools, Site Settings, Advanced, Show hidden

Frontpage random new window opens
I see nothing in the code or button properties (target frame = default/none)
to indicate why certain pages should randomly open up new browser windows. I
want my pages to open within one browser window. The site is not set up in
frames....it is really quite basic, however my desktop looks like a deck of

FrontPage - What next?
Unfortunately I upgraded to Office 2007. FrontPage and 2k7 don't play nice. I
have a website I have been maintaining in FrontPage 2k3 but had to remove it

existance, what is available to resolve these conflicts? If I dump FP, what

Matching width of pages and shared borders
I have a website with only a few pages (www.tricklering.com) and they all
share top and bottom borders. When i publish the site then view it, the
"shared borders" are centered fine and fit on computer screens but the
"pages" are all just a bit too wide to fit, requiring a user to use the left
and right arrows to view what is out of sight. How do i get the pages to
match the width of the shared borders? I don't recall ever setting any
widths when i started setting up the pages and i don't see an obvious way to

Running Vista with Office 2007 and FrontPage 2003 (I have tried Expressions
Web also). Opened a website in Frontpage 2003 and tried to edit and save a
Word document that had been saved previously in Word 2003. Was able to edit
but as soon as I hit save the error "document not saved" pops up. I am able
to hit save as and save it to another location. I can resave the file as an
.docx and then open it,
edit it, and then save again (as an .docx) without an errors but am unable to

submit form not working
My published Front Page 2000 is not allowing me to do two thnigs:
First when someone SUBMITS thier information on the form, the following

Results Page Error
I am not getting anyone to help me. Let me clarify, I have Frontpage
on an old machine and updated the database through frontpage. I
copied the form page, db page, and global.asa page. I changed the
code in the results page. But that is when I am getting the error.
It starts to list the results, but stops about a third of the way down
the page and says there is an error.
Then I look at line 12 of the _fplib page, it talks about "check for
access hyperlink fields (only absolute http links)

I'm beginning to have a great number of problems publishing with FrontPage.
I have several websites, but the hosting services seem to be implying that
FrontPage is no longer being supported by Microsoft. I am having problems
with password protect, and simply canNOT publish one site. PowWeb seems to
have only excuses and each time they must reinstall FrontPage Extensions.
Upon doing so I lose password protection. But of late I cannot even publish!
Unix servers seem to have problems with FrontPage, although I have several
sites published with FrontPage. But, after reading some of their
"disclaimers," I'm wondering if they really support FrontPage any longer?
I noticed that Microsoft has a couple of pieces of software which may be
replacements for FrontPage? Is that true? If so, is FrontPage basically no
longer supported? I have FrontPage2003. I thought I had a good product, but
now I'm wondering if I have a "white elephant?"
If FrontPage is on the way out, or no longer really supported, what are my
alternatives? I use FrontPage, FrontPage Extensions and I believe
SharePoint. I noticed there is something called Microsoft Expression Web.
Is that an upgrade and the path I must follow? If so, is it a simple upgrade
and fully supportive of FrontPage 2003? And, what about Microsoft Office
SharePoint Designer? Is this the avenue I must follow, etc.?
I really need help.

Results Page Error - Please Help
I updated a frontpage registration form and database connections
through the backside code because my new machine doesn't have the
program. Through this I added two new fields to my form. My form
updates the database, but when I try to view the results page, I get
this error:

So, I went to the _fpclass/fpdblib.inc file and tried to decipher the
code. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Yahoo deleted all my files.
I had been working in their servers and they have since deleted all my files.
I can see the files when I open FrontPage in my home computer and need to
try and start a new program and have them to a disk format first, then I can
publish to other servers. I am not completly sure how to do this, and should
the setup I was using be saved on my home computer. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Order of attachments
When inserting attachments in an e-mail I somehow have two scenarios:
1. The files are inserted as icons in the mail-body. Here I can arrange the
attachments in a logical sequence.
2. The files are inserted in a list below the Subject line. In that list I

I've been using fp for 5+ years but never had this issue. My hard drive
crashed and until I get it fixed, I re-installed FP on a spare computer,
downloaded my site and everything's good but...everytime I publish, FP wants
to upload every single file even though I check the "changes only" box.
It doesn't seem to know who I am even though I log in with the same user
name, etc.

I have a page that I would like to have the User's Login automatically
default in the DRW. I have captured the User Name in the following code,

Since I am working for the University of Arkansas for Medical Science, I have
a problem that I need to know the answer to. Due to it being such a big
university, it has Active Server Pages along with Frontpage. Since my boss
wanted to see my template of my website design on her computer, I was
wondering if anyone could tell me how to do this. She stated that the
previous Technical Support person did this and sent the template to a
different URL. Would this be like publishing it to a remote site. I would

This gets asked quite a bit so I thought I would give one method. (sorry if
the english is not too good â?? sono Italiano)
I am "not" an expert with fronpage so you if there is anything you don't
understand (or I have got wrong) about the frontpage "bit" - post a question
and one of the experts may answer.
When you create a asp form in FP and ask the programme to save to database
it will create an access database and (normally) a table called â??Resultsâ??
FP is â??notâ?? part of MS office so the data stored in the table (anything that
a user inputs onto a form) is not much use unless
1 You want to use this data to upgrade to functions of the on-line database
2 You want to use the data for something else (ie use the data "off-line")
Note that (as I said) FP is not part of office so you will need some codeing
to do this.
This is one way to do it â?? there are a few others but they need a little
more practice with the access DB programme and are a â??littleâ?? bit more
complex.
So
I will assume you have a form which saves data to an online Access Database
(this is the â??Externalâ?? database â?? as the data is not stored on your hard
drive).
I will assume you have another database (on a hard drive) where you want the
results of the on-line form to be (eventually) â?? this is the â??internalâ??
database.
So.
To import data from a table in an external database into (append) to a table
in your internal database.
The â??cheatsâ?? I have given here you can either or not â?? I use them as Iâ??m
lazy and â?? in this case â?? the end justifies the means (especially when the
means are delete

4 Create a new query in your internal database (call it qryImportAppend).
Base this new query on tblImportAppend. Individually click each of the fields
so they all shown in the design grid.
5 Change the query to an Append Query. In the drop down list select
tblInternalNewRecords. If you have copied the tables correctly the fields in
the â??Append Toâ?? row will fill in automatically. (You can change these update
to fields)
6 Create a new form in Internal Database.
7 Create a new button (call it cboImport)
8 Put this code on the OnClick event

create the table, run the query then delete the table again (I tend to do
this as itâ??s just extra disk space).
Of course you can append the data to other tables and you donâ??t need to
append all fields. If you play around with the code and the Append you will
get it to do want you need.
I use this method quite often and have the validation process in the append
query â?? is text formatted correctly, are numbers right, are
postcodes/zipcodes
formated so the post office will accept them, etc, etc. But the most
important validation I use is not importing records that are already in the
table. You can use a time/date stamp (field) in the external table and in
the append simple put something like
>[TimeDateField] in the criteria row.
(FP will create one for you in the Form Properties)

Maximize a New Window - Target Frame
For each hyperlink I create, I want to be able to have the person open a new
window, which I have done by using the "Target Frame, New Window" option (
_blank). However, I was wondering if you can have that window open in a
"maximized" window state every time. Is there some code you need to put in
to have that happen?

How do I make the navigation apply to all pages even after selecting apply to
all pages in shared borders. It only applies to my index page.
You have to add all the pages in View | Navigation, then go to each page and
select the style.
