I have a need to be able to view my FrontPage web creations, during the
design and creation phase, on my local PC, not only in MSIE, but in Opera,
FireFox and Netscape.

But, FF, Opera and Netscape do not render HTML material correctly on my
local PC. I have to move it to an Internet server, to get FF, Opera and
Netscape to see if there are any differences between those and how MSIE
renders the code. Experimenting live on Internet is not a wise method.
Visitors will see the evolving, non-functional stuff. I only want them to
see the finished, polished, functional stuff.

So, I have been wondering ho hard it is to set up a local server ( or costly
to have someone else do it and keep it maintained). I do not like techy
things.

I have all my FrontPage webs on drive E;/ of my local PC.

Do any of you have server software running on your local PC to accomplish
what I am seeking?

Is there a simple way of doing this?

IF running an OS that supports IIS you could install the FPSE on your PC and run your FP web from localhost
- but if you don't want to go thru that, and your host supports subwebs set up a staging subweb to publish to for testing (you could
set it up w/ unique permissions so no one else could see it)

Is it possible to run a IIs server on just a logical drive E:\ on a local PC
running Win XP Media center? Or does it entirely replace Wind XP media
center and effect all logical ( partitioned) and physical drives?

IIS is installed on C:\ and there is no option to install it a different drive.
IIS works in XP Pro.
If there is no option in Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Add Remove Windows Components, then Media
Center won't run it.

IIS is installed on drive C, however you can create a folder to host your web on another drive, then
point IIS to use this folder.

If I have someone set up IIs on my Win XP Media center PC, will it be active
ONLY on drive C:\? Or will it be effective on my drive E:\ ( which is a
partition of the same physical drive as C:\)?

If so, then May I assume that I could start using server side includes
rather than FrontPage Inlcudes and be able to view them using MSIE, FF,Opera
and Netscape? And might be able to use and view PHP as part of my webs?

Would the FrontPage 2003 display and preview modes be effected?
