    - cut 'n paste Javascript into BODY & getting it to validate I use cut 'n paste Javascripts. The validators dont like these. I found that, for those which are loaded in the <head></head> that the simple process of linking it from an external file seems to validate and the JS works. But, what do I do when the Javascript needs to be in the BODY, not in the HEADER? I am not sure if any browsers will link in an external Javascript that is evoked between the <BODY> and </BODY> markers. Any suggestions on how to get this JS to validate?     - Upload photo from user to us Hi Not sure really if this is possible or (more likely) I'm thinking about it in the wrong way. I have an application form that saves input to an access db. I need people to also send me a photograph of themself (just a face shot for a liftpass in a ski resort). I know that storeing a photo in access is a "big" mistake but I hope to somehow have a "upload photo" button on the page and then (not really sure how) they could browse to a photo on their hard drive and upload it to me. I could store it in the on-line access database (I can set the table field formats no probelm) as this is emptied everyday so the bloating would not be too bad.     - Navigation bars not showing in browser after publishing intranet I am using a windows xp professional computer to host an intranet. I use Frontpage to design the site. I am using shared border feature. When I publish, link navigations bars don't show in a browser when I view the published page in a browser. When I am publishing, the following message comes up. 'The following pages in your website contain link bars or navigation bars that use new navigation options. They will not display properly because the server you are pubishing to does not suppot these features. To enable link bars, publish your website to a server running the latest version of frontpage server extensions or sharepoint services.' I checked the microsoft website for help and the Technet site has advice on how to intstall sharepoint from the XP cd. However, when I tried to, there was no sharepoint folder in the XP cd. How can I resolve this problem? The computer hosting the intranet has Frontpage 2000 server extensions. Help me with either upgrading this or installing sharepoint so I can run the intranet smoothly.     - Publishing Be patient with me, as I am new. I'm trying to pubilsh my site to a remote server that is maintained by someone else. I've been given username and passwords to log onto the site as an author, but was told to log on to (just an example) www..help.me.com.     - Cannot log onto site due to "too many pages" for FP Our host is web.com (formerly Interland.com). Today I could not log onto our site to update two pages, receiving the FP error message: Unable to open <website>.com Possible causes: 1. The web server may not have the FPSE installed. 2. The web server may be temporarily out of service. 3. If you are connecting through a proxy server, the proxy settings may be incorrect. 4. An error may have occurred in the web server. When I log on to our Control Panel and try to do a Fix/Check of the FPSE it fails with a similar message. Our Email contact form is not working, so the FPSE are broken (they worked yesterday). We do not connect through a proxy server. After this happened over several hours I called Web.com. Their tech support (in Columbia, South America) told me FP has a size limit of 1000 pages and I have 1054 pages. I know from reading a posting by Ron Symonds ("Ronx") that FP has no page limit (thanks, Ron!), so I am about to call them back and go another round with them. Can anyone suggest any cause for this that is my fault? Something I can do? Or is the only thing I can do is convince Web.com to reboot the server, etc.?     - How to get FP to ignore updating certain files ? - We want to FTP some large files to our website form another computer... - We do not want to load them into the Front Page project as we don't want to have these large files sitting on the Hard Disk on the Front Page computer. Front Page seems to want to keep up with what files and folders are on our website and unless they are in the Front Page "project" Front Page will attempt to delete them off the server. How can we get Front Page to ignore select files on the server?     - no can publish - the error 403 from author.exe I had this problem when I publish: it transfers files but fails after the stage "processing web updates for" When I click details, it shows error 403 forbidden You don't have permission to access /_vti_bin/_vti_aut/author.exe on this server. It happens whether I publish all or only changed files. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Frontpage extensions. Also tried with and without the "cleanup old extensions". Also tried waiting a while between uninstall and reinstall. I have never used ftp to this website. Nor have I meddled with the .htaccess or other config files. I tried the FPCLEANER program, that achieved nothing. I ran virus/spyware scanners, hardware diagnostics, even one of them "regcleaner" thingamies. Besides that I removed Office 2000, and reinstalled it. Nothing helped. All was fine for several months. This started happening a few weeks ago.... I called the webhost support people. They were helpful. They reinstalled the Frontpage extensions from their end, but no change. I gave them all the files from my web, and they were able to publish okay; could not reproduce my error. I trawled though Microsoft knowledge base, and could not see this particular problem expalined. So I searches many web-nerd forums, and one person said he added a slash after the domain name, that fixed it. But not for me. Another said he had a corrupt jpeg file that caused it. This was at first promising. I noted the last jpeg transferred before the error, and deleted it, then recreated it and imported back into the web. Then publish worked! However, the "corrupt" picture could be viewed in 8 different programs. Unfortunately, the problem returned. So I removed the last jpeg transferred before the error. Still the error 403. So I delete the second last, and then the third last, but now the publish still fails. I found one discussion which suggested too many files in one directory can choke Frontpage, but didn't say what that limit is. At the moment, there are 14 html files, 239 files in images directory, and 266 files in another directory. There is one theme used, with several dozen files in that. I have ye olde Frontpage 2000.     - Set zoom size of the normal view pane I'm using FP-2000 and have about 20 pages that has a single image of a town map on each. I've created polygon hyperlinks over the property lot (irregular shapes) on the map(s). Each hyperlink has 6 query parms that is passed to an access DB to access the property information. I have a new set of maps that are 95% the same as the old maps. I can double click on the image on the page in FP and open a popup window in MS image composer. I then insert the replacement map in the place of the old map, exit, and save. The new maps are the same size as the old maps and only has a few changes in the lot boundries. Back at the FP window in the normal view the map is larger than the screen (need the larger size to see the details) so I have horizontal and verticall scroll bars. The normal pane (pain) is after adjusting the points on the polygon hyperlink the screen "jump" back up to the top. So for each point I have to scroll back down (and/or) over to edit the next point on the hyperlink. Multiple points on each property, 10-50 properties per page = lots of up-n-down, right-n-lefts. I haven't found anything in FP help so my guess is the answer is "no"; but, is there a way to "zoom" out (like in Powerpoint) or set the normal screen size such that it doesn't flip back up to the top each time I edit a polygon hyperlink point?     - FrontPage 2003 opens only in Safe Mode - Reinstate to Normal Mode? I have FP 2003 installed on each of my Main desktop computer (Win XP SP2, IE7) and my laptop (Win XP SP2, IE7). The program functions well on my desktop, but some six weeks ago, it started behaving abnormally. I have been searching user group and related tech help websites for some time now to find a solution to this "Problem Encountered" at opening problem. At about the same time, I had a problem with upgrading NIS 2004 to NIS 2008 on my desktop, but not on my laptop. I did experience some difficulties with the installation of Norton System Works 2008 on my laptop, but the problems were eventually resolved. Using NWS 2008 Detect and Repair Problems did not resolve the FP 2003 problem. I have followed all of the advice from many different helpful sources, but to no avail. I have run many anti-malware programs (all the latest versions), none of which resulted in a solution. I have uninstalled and re-installed FP 2003 at least twice, but the program still behaves in the same manner, i.e. opens only in Safe Mode, with the associated deficiencies (some options not available from previously set ones, and will not automatically load the last saved website.
