I want to set up a shared calendar on Microsoft Exchange.
I have purchased Server 2003. I have setup clients on on
my workstations, but do not know how to proceed from
here.

Hello:

2 common ways to do this:

1) Create a mailbox and log on to it via Outlook. Grant a distribution group
containing the users permission to the Calendar folder.
2) Create a public folder that stores Calendar items and grant a
distribution group containing the users permission to that folder.

Martin

Is there any way to get detailed instructions on Step 2.

This is about as detailed as I will get.

- Log onto to Outlook with an account that can create PFs (the admin account
should do).
- Either create the PF at the top level of the PF tree or create a few PFs
and then put this new Calendar PF under them.
- Right-click the PF that you want to create the new PF in > select New
Folder.
- Name it something sensible, like "Shared Calendar - ABC Inc.," and select
Calendar Items (or Appointment Items, depending on the version of Outlook
you're using) in the Folder Contains selection > click OK.
- Go to the properties of the new PF > Permissions tab > select Default and
give it Author permissions. This will allow all users to add/modify/delete
their own entries only.
- To save users some time, they can drag the new PF folder to the Favorites
folder at the top level of the PF tree.

Note: this new shared calendar will require users to manually add their
meetings to it and they can add entries that conflict with each other,
although they will not be able to delete other users' entries. You can
always check the received time of the entries to see which one was entered
first.

Martin
