    - Exchange and Certificate Server Does anyone use MS Certificate Services? I know to enable it I just install it through add/remove Windows Components. That's easy enough. What do I do after it is installed to create a certificate? I know what to do with the certificate once it is created in order to use OWA over an SSL connection.     - path to windows 2003 AD and exchange 2003 from NT4.0 and exchange Hi all, I have just migrated my poor NT domain to AD, and exchange 5.5 to exchange 2003. I did like that ; - I have installed win 2003 AD with a new domain name and created trust with NT 4.0 domain - moved user accounts using ADMT ( not all users only head offie users ) -moved users mailboxes ( not all users only head offie users ) I dindt want to move all users with one day operation causing some special needs, and also it was seemed to me doing step by step would be better.I was wrong ! my branch office users were using ( still they can use without any problem) pop3 and smtp while head office users using MAPI.Actually branch office users only have mailboxes in head office, they have their own domain without any trust with head office domain.They had user accounts in head office NT but it wasnt related any service except mail.And the last thing, i upgraded my users email client outlook 2000 to 0utlook 2003. result ; After migration I had 2 exchange server within a site ( in same echange organization) and had one trusted domain ( AD win2003 and NT 4.0 ) And then my problem was occured. Some of my clients were complaining that they disconnected from outlook 2003,and they got logon screen which is asking domain username and password.I tried to relogon using their account name and password, but it didnt work.When i restart outlook 2003 it was connecting without any problem.The re-logon screen was sending sometimes by exchange 5.5 server, sometimes by exchange 2003 server.Both server also domain controllers.It was happining random.Some clients see this logon screen very often, some clinents see the first day after migration and see second time after 2-3 days.I almost checked and done everything with my knowledge but didnt fing a solution.( Checked server side and client side ) If anybody knows something about this problem and help me, i will pray for that lucky guy till i die.I promise.     - WINS and Exchange 2003 migration Hello I about to undertake a migration project which consists of the following: A Windows NT 4 and Exchange 5.5 migration to Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003 I currently have in place WINS in the NT environment I have migrated NT domain environment to Windows 2003 DC environments without the migration of WINS ( unnecessary under Widows 200x due to DNS if no legacy applications are in place) 1) Now due I need to implement WINS on the Windows 2003 box in preparation for the migration of Exchange 5.5 to Windows 2003. 2) And if I do need to implement it due I need to replicate the Wins database with my old database Or Can I get clients point towards to the new Wins database before the migration?     - Incoming mail to public folder.. Exchange 2003 Have a public folder called, for argument sake, Webresponse I have an email address webresponse@mydomain.com I send email from outside my domain to that address, and it ends up in the public folder like i want it to.. BUT... It ends up in there as a POST item, not as a MAIL item, meaning it doesnt format properly and no headers , replies dont work properly, etc. Is this a 'feature' or a 'bug' of exchange ??     - Best security practices for exchange We are planning our exchange server setup. We have a small office with 1 win2003 dc and about 30 clients PCs. We do not have a DMZ. we have managed security thru our ISP, a fortinet 100 managed 24x7. We will be putting the exchaneg2003 server on a new memebr server. It will be in the internal LAN.     - Outlook web acccess Hi For starters I wonder if there is possible to get outlook web access functioning with only two exchange 2003 servers that holds their respective mailboxes in one site? Or do i have to get a front end server with two backends? The reason is that we have a setup there OWA only works on the "main" server, the one that all mails to the domain is coming in to. OWA logon to the mailboxes on the second server on a diffrent geographically located site and AD site doesnt work. Thoose accounts is getting "Page cannot be displayed". Any suggestions about this?     - Add a child domain to an existant forest. A forest with exchange 2 I try to add a child domain to my existant forest and I upgrade the schema of this forest because I use exchange 2003.     - Incomming E-mail I'm currently using an Exchange 5.5 server and Exchange 2003. E-mail has been coming into the 5.5 and routed across to the 2003 server, where the mailboxes are held. Inbound SMTP is routed from Messagelabs and NAT'd at our boundry to the 5.5 server. I have changed the NAT configuration to route mails to the 2003 server (have had this checked and is OK), but e-mails are still going directly to the 5.5 server and then routed to the 2003 server.     - Exchange 2003 upgrade - swing method Our Domain has one win 2000 server with exchange 5.5 installed. We have recently installed a new 2003 server into ad and used the swing method to move the mailboxes, public folders etc to the 2003 server which we have installed with exchange 2003. We were intending to format the existing win2k server and reinstall with 2k server and exchange 2003 and use it in a new remote site. However we have been told that we cannot now format the machine, due to a legacy app on the machine that cannot be reinstalled.We also cannot rename it.     - Connection Agreements?? I am currently switching over to exchange 2003 from a 5.5 organization. My 5.5 organization has 3 sites, and i currently have a connection agreement with one of them. Do i need to set up a connection agreement between the other 2 sites, and if so should they be no primary?     - General Question? I have recently re-installed and setup for a second time in a year a new exchange server network with one of my clients. While migrating everything over for use on the new exchange server. One item has locked itself as far as permissions is concerned. There is a public calendar that has been locked and visible to all the users on the network, however nobody is able to add, change, modify or delete any date on the calendar or delete the calendar as a whole. A new calendar folder has been created and the old calendar copied. So that all permissions are accessible.     - Laptops with local Outlook on Exchang Server I am a crass novice at Exchange and need some basic help. My office is running a 10 node 2003 Std Server network. Each workstation/user utilizes Outlook as their mail agent. Today I installed Exchange and now need to integrate the users into its confines. All of the workstations are XP Pro. The reason for switching to Exchange is to be able to share calendars. How do those who take a laptop home access email and update their calendars short of a VPN, etc? Is there some sort of "offline" mode by which the separate laptop can default to a secondary connection for email without having to load with a second profile? The reason for this question is to insure that emails are available in the same folder at the office as at home and that the same is true for the calendar, etc. Thanks for any direction that someone may give.     - Mailbox Rights Running Exchange03 with Active Directory, when I go into mailbox rights of some user accounts, they contain lists of users such as Domain Admin, Enterprise Admins with full access rights, and these rights are inherited from a Parent object. Which parent object is it coming from? I looked in the properties of Organization Units, nothing there. And there isn't a checkbox to uncheck the inheritance. Thanks in advance.     - Uninstallaing exchange blues Hi , Need HELP , SUGGESTIONS , YOUR EXPERIENCE IN PUTTING THIS PROJECT ON TRACK. All the prep work finaly went fine. I tried to install exchange 2003 in 5.5 org as first server to co-exist, it failed on collaboration / or DCOM objects could not be installed step. SO i had to cancel it, Gave more permissions to the account and ran the setup again this time it installed exchange but DAMN, when i opened system manager I Could not see the old Exchange servers. I looked at the installation progress logs, it says it could not find 5.5 and MOVED on with the installation. When i tried to uninstall exchange from setup, it did not let me. SO i went in to ADSI edit took off New Exchange server entries. When i tried to synch through ADC, i got tons of Exchange related errors in ADCCONFIGCHECK log. It indicates all configurtaion objects from both my mail servers could not be replicated to AD. I have NO CLUE how to get this going again , ANY SUGGESTIONS would be appreciated. All, Exchange 2003 SP1 In order to alleviate winmail.dat errors for recipients at one of our customers, I'm testing the Internet Message Format policy functionality. I have configured a two new test domain policy within Global Settings/Internet Message Formats to force plain text for the domains (hotmail.com) or (gmail.com). Message Format tab: MIME, Provide message body as plain text Character sets: US ASCII Advanced tab: Exchange rich-text format: Never use Message text word wrap: Never Use Allow delivery reports: Checked Allow Non-delivery reports: Checked Default Domain policy still exists. When I send an email out (Outlook 2003) formatted in HTML or Rich Text to either domain, the formatting is still showing on message received on other end???     - MS Mail Post Migration Issues I have recently completed a migration from MS Mail and VPOP to Exchange 2003 Enterprise. I've uploaded all the pst files via exmerge and everything is running very smoothly. But there's a small problem, if anyone replies to an old email it's in the form of Windows/PRODCON/username and comes back undeliverable. Is there any way within exchange to setup mappings or any utilities that will change the stored data so i can replace the MS Mail addresses with valid email addresses.     - How to see all aliases in Active Directory We have Exchange 2000 running on Windows Server 2000. We are also running GFIMailEssentials 10.1 to filter out spam. There is a new feature in 10.1 that allows you to detect directory harvest attempts. It does this by flagging emails that have multiple recipients in our domain but some of them do not exist as possible such attempts. It queries the AD for each address and only if it gets a record back does it assume it's good. The problem is that some of the users have more then one alias tied to their exchange mailbox and when GFIMailEssentials queries the AD only the primary addresses get acknowledged as such. This causes many false positives for those users who have been actively using more then one alias. How do I get the AD to acknowledge the aliases as valid so GFIMailEssentials can do a better job of detecting directory harvest attempts? Jim Kyser Consultant to Aires Consulting Group, Inc.     - ADC Step 4 Connection Agreement Wizard Hello everyone, ADCTools.log message: ADC object replication verify 05/25/2005 09:30:26 Active Directory Connector Object Replication Check completed. No unreplicated objects found. Warning: Active Directory still contains objects that are not replicated to the Exchange 5.5 directory. If you have just run Connection Agreement Wizard, allow time for directory replication to complete, and then rerun the verification task in Step 4. Otherwise, run the Connection Agreement Wizard. I installed the ADC almost a week ago. As you can see Pass 2 of 2 never completes. Is this normal or should I be looking for errors elsewhere? I am running 6 different sites connected by WAN links. The exchange 2003 servers are all installed throughout the enterprise. I was hoping to do some testing and replicating public folders using pfmigrate. Of course I can't run pfmigrate until the ADC completes due to Article 885826. ADUC does show about 7000 public folder objects. Can anyone help me by telling me how long the process could take or where I may look for errors. I am receiving an event log error about every ten minutes of the following that may shed some light.     - Exchange 2003 with Calendar Using AutoAccept Agent Hi. I am a first time user of this site. I have an Exchange Server 2003 and Outlook 2003 on the desktop. We are a law firm and I am trying to create a Master Calendar that everyone will post appointments to as they add them to their personal calendars. I have created a resource user/mailbox. I have installed the Microsoft AutoAccept Agent and registered the mailbox that I created. You can send appointments to it and they are created, updated or deleted per your appointment request and the proper response is sent. Here is where the problem is. As this is going to be a master calendar, there may be multiple entries for any given time. The AutoAccept Agent will accept the first entry at any given time, but if that entry was sent marked as busy then the AutoAccept Agent refuses all other entries for that time. If the entries are sent marked as free, then it will accept multiple entries for that time. My question is there a way at the server or on that mailbox's calendar to forceably change all entries to that calendar to be added as free so that the AutoAccept Agent will continue to accept ALL entries?     - SBS 2003 with OWA on front end server I recently upgraded a client from W2k, Exchange 5.5 to SBS 2003. I was using another 5.5 box as the front end server for OWA. This front end server also hosts other web apps, email gateway etc. Using the same setup I cannot get OWA to work with 2003 and SBS2003. I would like to use SSL but it's not required. Currently the web server is redirecting the webpage to the SBS box which doesn't work. The client only has 1 static IP and I'm using port forwarding to the IP of the internal web server. I cannot move the port forward to the SBS server due to the web apps on the web server.     - Sending mail to another SMTP server I want to use Exchange 2003 on a dynamic IP DSL line. Using a dynamic DNS service/program I can get updated DNS entries and everything works fine for receiving email. But when sending email SBC won't let me do it since it's coming from a dynamic IP. My web host (currently using for web and pop) says if I can send the email to their server it will send it out. The only problem is it needs to send with a username and password.     - PubFoldCheck Error Hi, I am migrating from Ex 55 to Ex 2003 using Exchange Server Deployment Tools. On phase 3 running SetupPrep, i have this error on ExDeploy.log : "Error: PubFoldCheck detected an error while performing Public Folder DS/IS Consistency Adjustment on the Exchange 5.5 server. Check the Windows Application Event Log on that server for details" On Application Event Log there aren't any warnings or errors. I already run DS/IS consistency adjuster on the Ex 55.     - Exchange Configuration Questions Can someone help me with these couple Exchange questions? I just setup an Exchange 2000 Enterprise Server for someone. I noticed that after I ran forestprep and domainprep the existing users didn't get all of the Exchange specific tabs in their account properties. If I create a new user with a mailbox and mail database the tabs are there. Is it because I haven't created mailboxes for the existing users? Also, when I connect an Outlook client to the server I cannot browse the Global Address Book. Did I miss something? I am able to send emails between users locally and from each user to the internet, but I cannot browse to see the users. I also do not see all of the folder structure under the profile I am using. All I see is Inbox. I am sure I missed something small. IFS - When I try to browse the mail folders for the users on the system I get a permissions error. I am logged in as the user that installed Exchange and ran forestprep and domainprep. Do I need additional permissions to see the mail files for all of my users? IFS - Isn't there supposed to be a share created by IFS called BackOfficeStorage so users can see their own email files? It is not there. I do have the M:\ Drive locally, but it is not shared.     - Installing ESM on Windows 2003 SP1 I get an error that it's not supported. This machine is a DC and I wanted to install ESM to get the Exchange tabs in AD on this server. Also, the security settings on IE are too high and have trouble even getting the install to run. Even if I lower the settings, it revers back to the orginal setting.     - Problem in Parent and Child Domain Name Hi Friends, Email Domain Name problem. i am installed Exchange server 2003 in forest domain(windows 2003 Domain name->mail4u.com) following way setup.exe /forestprep setup.exe /domainprep setup.exe It is working fine. and i planned to install another Exchange server in to my Branch office. i am installed child domain controller. name is :child.mail4u.com and i am installed exchange server 2003 in the following ways logined in child domain with the account of parent domain administrator. setup.exe /domainprep setup.exe installed without any problem if i am creating email id for child domain user then it is look like a peter@mail4u.com i think it should be domain name know ex:peter@child.mail4u.com know. now i am not able to send / receive mail parent mail users to child mail users and child mail users to parent mail users. what mistake i did that i don't know. anyone please help Tag: redirect email from isp to exchange Tag: 131253

    - OWA-NOT-WORKING-PLS HELP Dear All, The main thing which i wat to do is:- 1. i want to establish OWA for my External user. ============================================================================== I have the following :- 1. i have only 2 domains ( mailserver ) & ( webloc), in the same Network. 2. both domains have 1 DC in each . 3. Exchange server is installed on the First domain only ( Mailserver ). 4. Our web site is only installed on the other domain ( Webloc) and its on the IIS 5.0 on the DC of the seconde Domain. 5. on the second domain, there is a publish Rule which is maping only the Real IP- Address for web site to that Domain Controller of the second domain. ============================================================================== what we need is, only on the second domain , i want to create Virtual Directory to map to the Mailbox of the users on the First doamin on the exchange . so when any one type : http://www.xyz.com/mail he will see his e-mails. i did the virtual directory , but with some notes:- 1. i found that from the second domain - Not from the first domain-, i found i am able to access the first domain, then access the exchange server which is located on the domain controller. and also on the first domain, i can see the second domain and access the shared folder. 2. both DC, on the same Network and they can Ping each other. 3. on the first domain, when i was try to give Permission to this folder, ifound that , i cant see at all the second domain and also it happen on the first domain. i check on the Active directory Domians & Trust, i found that on both domain controllers there was nothing at all, no Trust at all, and howver i can see the other resources on both servers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on the second domain controller , on its IIS, the Virtual Directory which has been created by me and map it to the MBX folder on the exchange server on the first domian , i found there is a red circule indicate that there is Error on that virtual directory, i do not know why ??? but i found that, we are unable to put the user name & Password and always display ( you are not authorized ) & sometimes ( Page cant be found ). so, what is happen, how can we solve this? ============================================================================== as i understood, OWA working with this way,:- ( Microsoft OWA, is tightly integrated component of Exchange server 2000. its used by Remote Home & external users, OWA Provide web browser access to the E-mails, Calander , contacts and all the Information stored in Microsoft exchange Storage System Folder). so, How can i implement OWA, if the Exchange server installed on another domain, and the IIS which is only Published is located on onther Domain ? I noticed that these services can be run under and account rather than the system acount. I created an accoint and made it a member of Domain Admins and Enterprise Admins, but I could no longer start Exchange, I had to go back to the System Account. 1.     - Exchange relay for Exchange I am trying to get one exchange server to send email to another. Server [a] would receive email that is sent to it from outside the network. I have created another domain with exchange server [b] this domain is in its own forest etc. I would like to some how allow server [a] to receive the email as it normally does, but relay email that sent to domain [b]. Talk with your ISP. Your Exchange server is most likely already geared
to accept the messages and your firewall can be changed to accept SMTP
(TCP 25)
The ISP will give you the option of a catchall POP3 mailbox that your
Exchange can collect messages from or they can create the DNS records
that send all the mail to you directly. Choose the latter if you can,
although you'll need a static IP address or take another service from
one of the dynamic DNS providers.
