I had a dead SBS 2003 server. Had to rebuild from scratch and used the same
server and domain name. Basically to cut a long story short, I only have the
raw files and logs. Priv1.edb, priv1.stm, pub1.edb etc.

Is there anyway I can restore to the new setup ?

Would appreciate your help.

Yes, since you did use the same Server name you should be able to follow
these steps to mount your databases:

1. Stop your Information Store service.
2. Copy the contents of the MDBDATA folder to a temp location.
3. In ESM, go to your Mailbox Storage Group properties under Database tab
and make sure "this database can be overwritten by restore" is checked.
4. Copy the old priv1.edb, .stm, etc. to the MDBDATA folder.
5. Now right click in ESM and mount Store.
6. Now right click on the mailbox store and select Run Cleanup Agent. This
will mark all the mailboxes with Red X's.
7. Right click each mailbox and reconnect to user accounts.

No need to copy log files just the .edb and .stm files.

OK, looking good so far. Except, when I try to reconnect to them to there
users accounts, I get...

'An object (Users or Object) with the following name cannot be
found:"username". Check the selected object types and locations for the
accuracy and ensure that you have typed the object name correctly, or remove
this object from the selection.#

The user accounts do exist. under users in Server Management.

Thanks

If the user new user accounts already had mailboxes created for them then
you will need to delete the mailboxes through ADUC before reconnecting them.

Yes, that worked. Fantastic!

Thank you John, I really didn't think we would be able to do it from just
the files. Now I need to install a decent backup !

Thank you again, hope this thread helps another !
