    - Set location for information store Hello, I'm not sure this is the right way to phrase this question, but I have a server with two drives. What I'd like to do is have all the email data stored on the second hard drive. Looking at the system manager, I see where I can specify where the databases should be. Is this all I need to do? On the exchange server if I create a mailbox for an existing user or a new user it says it creates it fine, but nothing shows up under mailboxes in the system manager.     - C drive space slowly going down Our exchange server is in a cluster, 1 of the servers has been shutdown for 8 months or so, therefore that box shouldn't cause this issue. But for some reason the live server is dwindling in C drive space like every 2 days. It goes down like a 100 mg or maybe less. We can't find anything obvious that is causing this. I am about to upgrade my FE to W2K3 and E2K3, I am also going to upgrade my BE servers located in my head office to W2K3 and E2K3, and leave my remote sites still on W2K and E2K for the time being. In regards to the web interface for webmail, the people whose mailboxes reside on the W2K/E2K servers will have a 2000 webmail interface, and the people whose mailboxes reside W2K3/E2K3 servers will have a 2003 webmail interface.     - Upgrading from MS Exchange Standard Edition to MS Exchange Enterpr Hi Guys, I have just upgraded from MS Exchange standard edition to Enterprise Edition. through the upgrade, i received a message saying that there are files that need to be replaced but the the files on my machine a updated/newer than the ones from the source (installation cd), so I chose not to replace those files, meaning i kept my original files.     - Newbie with half-loading Outlook Web access Could someone point me in the right direction here: I have installed Exc2003 and am able to send/receive email just fine. Trying to access OWA using http://servername/exchange brings up a half-loaded OWA screen. No style-sheet, no images and (presumably) the ActiveX controls don't load.     - New Exchange Server 5.5 not in site I installed another Exchange server 5.5 in my network, but this one has different name but same subnet, but is not in production. The intention with the server is to keep it for restore data from de backups instead directly to this machine.     - exchange 5.5 to 2003 migration - public folders Is there a faster way... Our organization has a rather large public folder container with numerous subfolders and directories. I am working to migrate from my exchange 5.5 server to exchange 2003 and have all the mailboxes, site connectors, OAB, Schedule+ and so on done, but am at the point of doing the hundreds of public folders that all exist in a different site, but are replicated to my site. Is there a faster way to move the public folders short of "add replica" for each and every one? (like moving mailboxes where there is a wizard, is there a wizard for the folders?) The second part of my question. My exchange 5.5 was the only exchange server in my local site. During the process of removing this server, I assume I have to follow both the "removing first server in the site" and "removing last server in the site" proceedures. Our enterprise consists of 9 sites. Corporate has the "original" site, also the IMC and the KM. They currently have both 5.5 and 2003 running. I am the 2nd site in our enterprise to migrate, and I am ready to turn off my 5.5 box asap. Are there any issues I need to be concerned with in getting to the point of removing the 5.5 server (given that I've followed the Crowley method, and the MS technet articles for moving, migrating, removing and deleting the servers). Hi, I'm looking for the best way to migrate from a single domain NT4/Exchange 5.5 environment to a single domain Win2003/ Exchange 2003 environment. My environment is simple: - I use Exchange only for calendar sharing, not email; - The computers on which Outlook is installed are not part of the NT 4 domain (they aren't part of any domain) I do not want to migrate all users at the same time, and I don't want to have to manually recreate all the Outlook user profiles on the desktops. So I'm wondering what the easiest path to migration is, because I read contradictory things in documentation. Should I use ADMT in combination with ADC ? I tried that, but I've had problems, and it seems to me that I'll have to deal with trusts and manual profile recreation. Or would it be simpler to first migrate the NT domain to AD (and run a mixed mode domain for a while), then install ADC? Thanks for any input.     - Newbie needs configuration help! I am attempting to move my company to Exchange. We've been using POP3/SMTP to send and receive email via our web hosting company's mail servers. We have three servers 1- 2003 and 2- Win2K. I installed Exchange on one of the Win2K servers accepting all defaults but I did choose native mode when given the choice. Our ISP provides us with one static IP address. We use NAT to share access to the net. Our internal IP's are 192.168.1.*. Our DNS is setup and working correctly. I've not had any issues with sending mail via the Exchange server but I am not sure how to get the mail from our web hosts mail servers to my Exchange server. I've setup an additional POP account in Outlook 2003 but thought that there should be a way to have Exchange handle the receiving of mail. Our current domain name is COMPANYNAME.LOCAL and our web url is COMPANYNAME.com. Can anyone shed light on this? Also I can't seem to get the calandars of all users to be accessible to other users. Is there something I have to enable differently on the Exchange server? I have gone into the calendar properties and made the default permission Nonediting Author and even tried adding individual users with no success. All calendars show as no information when there are appointments scheduled. Any help is greatly appreciated! This is all probably simplistic stuff for everyone else.     - RPC over HTTP-No Front-End I have a single 2003 Exchance SP 1 server with RPC/HTTP installed. I also have a Server 2000 PDC/GC and a 2003 BDC/GC. I have read through KB833401 (How to Configure RPC over HTTP on a single server in Exch.) however I'm not having much luck. When I start Outlook with the /rpcdiag switch, it tries to connect to my 2000 server and not my 2003. From what I understand, this will not work because I need it to connect to a 2003 GC.     - win NT 4.0 sp6 + exch 5.5 - reinstall the server Hi All our little organisation has an old Compaq Pro Liant with win NT 4.0 sp6 + exch 5.5, but it shows signs of being seriously "ill" - the antivirus program (McAfee) cannot update, and I cannot re-install it nor remove it any more. Therefore I decided to move this production server (it is a domain controller + file server + it has an exchange site with Internet Mail Services). Now, my idea is to install a new machine as BDC to the domain, and install an exchange 5.5 site on it, with intention to synchronise user accounts (both NT and Exchange). Then I would somehow remove the original server (the present PDC), and then this new PDC would take over. Any suggestions or "how-to-do"'s....? Thanx in advance!     - Installing Exchange for performance What is the better way to setup the partitions for running Exhange, with performance in mind? From what I've read so far, I think I need a seperate drive for the transaction logs - how big do these get? needs a partition for each mailbox database (not sure if we are going with Enterprise edition or not). needs a partition for the public folders, needs partitions for the SMTP queues, and MTA stacks. We have over 400 users that will be migrated to this server. We have a new server we are setting up, with dual Xeons, 2GB RAM, and 4 pairs of mirrored RAID SATA drives. The first mirror is partitioned for the OS, and a 2nd/backup OS. Not sure how to break up the rest of the mirrors/partitions. Any help here would be appreciated, as we don't wish to restructure the Exchange server in 6 months time, because the users are telling us it's slow.     - Exchange 55 --> 2003 ADC oddity I've completed the ForestPrep, DomainPrep and ADC setup (two-way) in preparation for introducing the first Exchange 2003 server into my 5.5 site. The ADC seems to have synched up everything fine between the two directories. I can make a change to an Exchange 5.5 user and it shows right up in ADUC. A change in AD is also shipped back to the 5.5 directory almost immediately. You'd think I would be happy. Unfortunately, when I invoke the Verify the Results of ADC Tools process in Step 4 of ADC Tools to check replication, it says: Pass 1 of 2: Active Directory Connector Object Replication Check validation (objects processed: 14527) Warning: The Exchange 5.5 directory still contains objects that are not replicated to Active Directory. If you have just run Connection Agreement Wizard, allow time for directory replication to complete, and then rerun the verification task in Step 4. Otherwise, run the Connection Agreement Wizard. Pass 2 of 2: Active Directory Object Replication Scan validation (objects processed: 14479) Warning: Active Directory still contains objects that are not replicated to the Exchange 5.5 directory. If you have just run Connection Agreement Wizard, allow time for directory replication to complete, and then rerun the verification task in Step 4. Otherwise, run the Connection Agreement Wizard. Finished verifying the results of the ADC Tools. It's been 36 hours since I accepted the agreement. The app log on the ADC server shows a couple of unique user objects replicating every 5 minutes successfully, even through the night when I know there shouldn't be many/any object changes going on. The initial replication in the lab did take a while, but then ADC Tools said everything was fine and we moved on to the server install.     - Moving DC and Exchange 2003 to new hardware Sorry for the crosspost, but I'm hoping someone can help me knock off two birds with one stone. We currently have setup 3 servers: 1. W2K3 DC w/ Exchange 2003 (running DHCP and DNS as well) - First box deployed 2. W2K3 DC w/ SQL Server 2000 - Just deployed one month ago 3. W2K3 Terminal Server (not a DC) What we want to do is move everything on our W2K3 DC w/ Exchange 2003 to new hardware, and turn off the old hardware. I was thinking of building the new box as a DC, installing Exchange in the same Administrative Group, then moving the mailboxes to the new hardware. My question is what else do I need to do in terms of ensuring things such as the Global Address List, Distribution Groups, Public Folders get moved correctly?     - NDR message appearing I setup a SBS server with exchange server to a company. In the exchange server it has been configured to receives mails from the ISP mail box which has been configured earlier. So this branch wants to receives mails only related to staff in their office, and so far it seems like ok. they are maintaining a address book of the all the branch office members. As they try to send e-mail to branch office members using the address book they receive a NDR. If I'm correct I've setup in the SMTP virtual server to forward all the unresolved mails to ISP mail server but still it appears. So is there any way to prevent this matter?     - Can only send mail internally? Help!! I am using Windows 2003 Small Business Server. We have a domain name - www.domain.co.uk which has a few mail boxes set up by our ISP. The main POP3 mailbox is postmaster@domain.co.uk which is the one Exchange server is set to check mail on. The other POP3 mail boxes are user1@domain.co.uk and user2@domain.co.uk which are setup by our ISP and not touched by our Exchange server. The problem we have is when we send an e-mail from our LAN to user1@domain.co.uk or user2@domain.co.uk the exchange server immediately returns the email as undeliverable because the user is unknown. However, if we send an email to another_user@domain.co.uk who has an account setup in exchange, the email is delivered ok. So the problem is the Exchange server will not relay e-mail to the internet if the email address is for domain.co.uk How do I set exchange to allow these emails for user1 and user2 to go out via SMTP rather than just be returned as undeliverable locally?     - Mail Flow between two forests We have two forests abc.xyz.net and def.xyz.net. Mails from both forest are in the form username@xyz.net. MIIS 2003 was installed on def.xyz.net to synchronize the Global Address list between the two forest. A user in one of the forest (and vice versa ) trying to send a mail to a user in the other forest recieves the message below. I have a Small Business Server 2000 box with of course Exchange. I am going to install Blackberry's Enterprise Server 4.0 and apparently have to put this on a seperate box other than the Exchanage server. I have another Windows 2000 Member server I could load it on. Do I put the Exchange CD in and load the ESM. After you load it does it make a connection with my Exchange server?     - ex5.5 TO 2003 Migration ADC problem Public folders replicate fine on exchange 5.5 and exchange 2003, but after I move a mailbox from 5.5 to 2003 It takes forever for the GAL to update on the 5.5 server. Also Outlook is unable to resolve the name until the mailbox receipient is updated on the 5.5 server. My exchange 2003 server is installed on a member 2003 server. I have a single domain and 250 e-mail clients. The ADC is installed on the 2003 server.     - IMF Broken after applying Exchange 2003 SP2 Technology Preview? My IMF seems to be broken after installing SP2 Technology Preview. I uninstalled IMF 1.0, then applied Exchange 2003 SP2 Technology Preview (supposedly comes with IMF 2.0). Now mail is no longer being filtered. I see the IMF tab under Message Delivery (nd I see the new Sender ID Filtering), but the Release Notes say I should see a something about IMF on the SMTP Virtual Servers "General Tab", but I don't.     - Event Logged After running Exchange 2003 /forestprep and /domainpr I am in the beginning steps of installing a new Exchange 2003 server on the network. I am running a windows 2003 AD network with 3 DCs and high speed connections between the servers in a single site. I ran the exchange 2003 setup with /forestprep and /domainprep switches on the DC with the FSMO roles to prepare AD for the exchange installation. After doing so I viewed the event logs on the DCs for any replication errors. Are these 2 events somthing I should be concerned about, or disregard them? I am concerned the schema was not completly replicated properly. The DC with the roles logged a 1083 NTDS replication error. Hi all,

I have a kinda peculiar scenario. we have a merak mail server installed
with a server host name of mail.gic-corp.com. the gic-corp domain is hosted
locally. I have recently installed SBS 2003 and I am trying to have it take
over email server functions. Any thoughts of how to trasfer the domain from
merak to exchange??? Any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance...
