    - OWA 2003 Hello All, I am having a problem enabling the OWA Default Logon Page so I am here to get assistance from the Pros... Currently when I got to mail.xxx.com/exchange I get a username and password box appear, which works A OK, however I would like the default OWA Page to come up instead. I have gone to Exchange Virtual Server Properties and enabled Forms Based Authentication, and restarted IIS, however I still get the same thing. We are going to try and implement a server based patch management system that will automatically update our clients (W95,NT,2K, XP) with the latest patches that we approve of. This would work like the Microsoft SUS server concept. We have researched several packages like PatchLink and HfNetCheckPro4 the Commercial product.     - Need a little help with 5.5 after a recovery Hi everyone, I spent most of Saturday getting Exchange back on its feet after a bad crash. I've got everything restored and it seems to be working except.....none of the Recipients are visible, the Mailbox Resources came back up fine but not the Recipients. What did I miss? Is there a way to reconcile the two of them or do I have to recreate the Recipients? I'd rather not have to as I have 80 people on the email box. Anyway, thanks for any help anyone can give me!!     - ADC Connection Agreement Wizard error Hello everyone, I'm working on my Exchange 2003 migration from my existing Exchange 5.5 site. Everything runs fine until I get to the ADC wizard. I went through the first three steps with no problems, identified and corrected Resource mailboxes etc. I run into a problem when I run the Connection Agreement Wizard. Error: The organization Inc. is already installed into this forest but the configured 5.5 server is a member of organization o=Teknosurf Teknologies, Inc.. Please choose a 5.5 server in the correct Org. My Exchange 5.5 Org name is "Teknosurf Teknologies, Inc." - I didn't name it, I just inheritied it.     - Migration of Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000 Hi there I have installed Exchange 2000 with SP3 onto a new server into our existing Exchange 5.5 site. The Exchage 5.5 Server has SP4 installed. The neccesary ADC agreements have been setup and there is replication between Exchange 5.5 and Active Directory. There is also mail flow between the two servers. Problem 1: The Exchange 2000 Server does not pickup the 5.5 server in Exchange System Manager. Problem 2: The move mailbox wizard in Exchange Tasks under Active Directory Users and Computers does not have the option to move mailbox.     - Recover Exchange5.5 onto new server Hi, Had a bit of a disaster applying SP4 to a 2000 server, which will now not boot. Whilst that is out of action, I need to recover users mail and get it up and running again. I have installed a parallel version of w2k server on the original box, so I can see the drives, including the Exchange databases. The original server though, is dead - I can just see it's drives. I want to be able to copy those databases onto a new server (Server 2003, previous was 2000). The new server will run 5.5 as before. Is there any way I can copy these database files over to the new server? The 2 servers will be called different names - and are even in different Domains. I have no record of the site ID's used at install time either! I only need to recover the emails in the users mailboxes, nothing else is needed. Any help greatly appreciated! Firewall configured to reroute email to my new server. This step done too: To Reroute Outgoing Internet E-mail Through the Exchange 2000 Server 1..     - BlackOut took out Exchange Server 5.5 The replacement UPS was here on the loading dock and the new server was being setup when the lights went out. Today with power restored the Exchange 5.5 services won't start on the NT 4.0 BDC. Looking at the event viewer I see a few messages. One in Applications event ID 1000 the Log says "Your profile was not successfully loaded, but you have been logged on with the default system profile. Please correct the problem and log off. (5)" and in the Applications Log Event ID 7013 a message saying "Logon attempt with current password failed with the following error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." How do I repair the Administrator Profile if that is the problem. I am getting ready to do a new install of a BDC and Exchange 5.5 and try to recover that way but was wondering if there is a better way. I can't find the System Recovery Disk or I would try that first. Is the problem in the SAM, or in the Exchange and the account it is trying to use to loggin to NT 4.0? Any help would be appreciated.     - Unable to install Exchange Server 2003 on Windows 2003 server enterprise hi there i downloaded the trial version of microosft exchange server 2003 and i'm tryin' to install it on a windows 2k3 server enterprise edition machine. but i'm unable to install it for some reasons. 1) after i launched the setup.exe which is in the folder exchange2k3\E3EEVAENG\setup\i386 after i press next to proceed to the installation options where u can select the Install Path and the component which should be installed, the Install Path is disabled and completely blank without any path written in, then the Choose path button is disabled also and the next button is also disabled so i can't edit the path manually and can't go to the next step. 2)the second problem is that i can't select the Action (Typical,Minimum or Custom) when i select Typical or Minimum i get an error message like this: "Setup encountered an error while checking prerequsites for the component "Microsoft Exchange": 0XC0070842 (2114) The server service is not started" when i select Custom as install action i get the following error: "Microsoft Exchange has an unknown installation problem." so i can do anything to install the packages cause i can't select anything and the Drive section in the component list are all empty. how can i fix this problem and install Microsoft Exchange server 2003 on Windows 2003? which is the Service that should be started to correct the problem? I heard that Exchange 2000 could be used to achieve this goal (via OWA). How could this be achieved? I created user accounts for the users or the different companies in sep OUs and configured IIS to use basic clear text. The problem is the user should not seem they are logging into a different domain, so putting in a domain name of CorpA when the domain is foo.com is not good.     - Difference Between ADCs from Exchange 2K and Exchange 2003 (Select Final) have looked everywhere for information on the differences between the Exchange 2000 ADC and the one from Exchange 2003. The Origin: -Client has single NT 4.0 domain with two Exchange 5.5 servers. One is the mailbox store the other an SMTP/mail filter bridgehead. Exchange boxes are member servers running Enterprise version of Exchange. All machines have latest SPs and hotfixes applied. The Destination: A native mode Windows 2003 Server domain. It has two DCs and two Windows 2000 member servers to run Exchange 2000 servers (not yet installed). They cannot go to Windows 2003 member servers and Exchange 2003 Enterprise servers as: 1.) Their Trend Micro A/V solution does not support this version yet 2.) They have recently purchased licenses for Exchange 2000 and do not wish the added cost 3.) Their anti-spam software does not yet support Exchange 2003. The Issue: The client already had this new secondary domain created for a parallel upgrade (they did not wish to do an in-place). The basics of a two-way trust, admin permissions across domains worked flawlessly as did the ADMT migration of their users and groups. However, when it came time to install the ADC from the Exchange 2000 CD the service would install but we were unable to create a connection agreement between the NT4 and the Windows 2003 domain. Filling out the connection agreement went fine until we had select the Exchange 5.5 container to import from where it would simply hang indefinitely -- no error messages, nor would it ever complete. Tested DNS and name resolution: ok Tested connectivity to both the Exch 5.5 LDAP port and the Win2003 DC using Portqry successfully with IP and hostname Used Netmon to watch packets. TCP three way handshake fine, showed LDAP bind etc up to about fourteen packets back and forth but then nothing. Feeling adventurous we decided to uninstall the Exch2K ADC and install the one from Exch2003 CD (Select CD- RTM) and we had no problem setting up both the ADC service and the connection agreement . When we went to install the Exchange 2000 server (following ForestPrep and DomainPrep) however it through numerous errors. Some thoughts and request for feedback: - When selecting the account to communicate with Active Directory NTLM (Windows Challenge Response) using the Exchange 2000 ADC this did not work. - When selecting the account to communicate with Active Directory using the Exchange 2003 ADC Kerberos was the default (and new option) that did work. Clearly these two ADCs are quite different. A first note is the authentication mechanism used. Secondly is the level of schema modification done by the more recent version and the level of compatibility with Exchange 2000 servers. Tag: internet mail Tag: 101290

    - Setup failed on Site Replication Service I am trying to get my Exchange 2003 server to coexist with my old Exchange 5.5 server so i can migrate my users on to the new system, every time i attempt to run the installation i get an error with the Site Replication Service with error code 0xC1037B0C, have looked on the knowledge base and the setup logs and it mentions that the distinguished name already exists and i need to restart the administrator program or the directory service, the knowledge base article 255703 which is the only one i can find on the subject is not very helpful at all. Name resolution and communication between the two domains is working ok and all security permissions have been set.
