Hi
Am new to Exchange. Have read through deployment guides, but can't find the answer to my problem
My organisation has approx 200 distributed users (mostly on 56k dial-ups) and 20 Head Office users (also using currently using dial-up)
The email domain is hosted at an ISP, with every user having the standard @whatever.org.uk address that they collect via POP3 using Outlook or Outlook Express
I've been charged with installing a network for the 20 HQ users, so they can benefit from file share, instant email, calendaring etc
I have been told that if I install an exchange server at HQ I need to collect and host the entire organisations email and not just the 20 HQ users. This seems crazy cos the 200 distributed users generate a lot of emails that will swamp our ADSL line. Is there a tidy way of collecting the 20 HQ users emails from the ISP and leaving the other users up there
Any help gratefully received
Andy

I hate to recommend POP but for your situation you may be
able to have your ISP host email for your company and pull
down your mail from the POP Server to the Exchange IS via
POP Downloader. I'm not sure if POP Downloaders can
selectively download emails for your 20 accounts, but it's
worth a look. Or you could host the whole company's email
and have users dial-into the head office via 800 number to
get their email from you, which wouldn't affect your
internet bandwidth.

I'd opt for hosting the entire organization's email. How
many concurrent dial-up connections does your ISP allow?

The current ISP are very good to us...
They host the 220+ mailboxes and allow unlimited simultaneous connections so the cost to our business is really minimal currently.
Not sure what you mean by users dialling in through and 0800 no? Dial through to what? Some kind of RAS set-up here?
I'd prefer to collect the HQ users mail via POP to begin with, but I'm lead to believe that this configuration will not work...
