I need a final bit of help please, Was here sometime ago and I now have
exchange running as I want it to..well almost!

Can send mail etc fine, but I need a bit of help receiving.

I have a dynamic IP.

I would like mail sent to say compynei@mydomain.com caught my my exchange
server, I have access to create mx records on my domain control panel (with
123reg.co.uk).

mydomain.com
points to mydomain.gotdns.org
points to dynamic ip which is updated automatically by the router.

Any help MUCH appreciated. Thankyou!

You need to find a DNS service that can update your DNS record as your A
record gets updated. Else get a static IP.

I have one at dyndns.org.

Gotdns.org is just another dyndns domain. Do i just point my MX record at
username.gotdns.org?

No, you point your MX at your server. But you update your A record with a
dynamic DNS service like those mentioned.

This doesn't make a whole load of sense to me (forgive me, quite new at all
this).

So point MX record to server.domain.com and change the A record to
username.dyndns.org?

Thanks very much

Depends on which package you purchased. Didn't look at the site before, but
now that I have I see the confusion.

It looks like you would have them host your SOA for you. So basically they
would host yourdomain.com on their server. In which case they host your A
records, your MX records, and all the rest. Then you put software on your
server (it looks like) that updates your DNS records as your records change.

FWIW, many ISPs make it cheaper to own a static business class connection
via DSL or Cable modem that are pretty straight forward.
