I am trying to upgrade from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2007 Service Pack 1.
It won't install, because it says there are Exchange 2003 servers that are
not running Service Pack 2. I use the get-exchangeserver command in the
powershell, and it shows the two test servers that we had when initally
upgrading from exchange 5.5. Problem is that not only do these servers not
have exchange on them, they don't even exist anymore. They were reformatted
with XP pro and given to users once we didn't need them in our exchange
environment anymore. HOW do I get these servers unlisted so I can move on?
Thanks

Using ADSI Edit- Go under Configuration -> CN=Services -> CN=Microsoft
Exchange -> CN=<ORG Name>-> CN=Administrative Groups -> CN= <Admin Group
Name> -> CN=<Server
Name. Do they show here? Were these servers present when you moved to
Exchange 2007?

First, this is helpful.
I show 2 administrative groups. The first one called
"exchange administrative group" only shows my live server

The second is called
"First Administrative Group"
and it shows both of the dead servers. Can I just delete it from here?

These servers were only present in our system while we were converting from
exchange 5.5 to exchange 2007.

Thanks

Take a System State Backup just to be extra safe, but you can most certainly
delete both servers from AD this way.

Yes, this fixed the issue. I just removed the servers from under the second
security group.

I thought about removing the whole security group, since it isn't the active
one, but I didn't know what that would do.
Thanks for your help.
