    - OWA IIS redirect I have an Exchange 2003 front-end/back-end topology setup. I would like for two things to happen: First I would like to alter IIS on the front end box so my users can go to www.companyname.com instead of www.companyname/exchange to get a logon prompt. I need to do this on this box because DNS is hosted externally and I can't alter it locally through DNS unless I put some kind of forward on the firewall. Just curious to know if I can do it through IIS like you could do with Exchnage 2000 and Exchnage 5.5. I currently have it running according to article KB319878 and it seems to work. Can I do this with Exchange 2003? Second, I would like my users to be able to enter just their username and password credentials instead of using domain\username and then password. By just entering username and password now, spell check does not work. When I go back to log in using domain\username and password spell check will work. Why? Most Exchange 2003 services have been stopped on the front-end server along with both private and public stores being dismounted and permanently stopped. I also stopped some services that don't need to be started on the front-end like the Information Store, Exchange System Attendant. OWA is running fine so I know it is not these services that cause the spell check to fail. I believe only two services are running on the front end like the routing engine and exchange system manger.     - Major OWA problem after updating IIS (Exchange 2003) Hey all, I was wondering if anyone could help me here. I updated the Frontpage ext. to 2002 on my Windows 2000 AS machine. It's running 2 web sites and exchange 2003. Now I can not get Exchange web (OWA) to work now. When I am in my internal network, the page starts to load (I can see the line in the center of the browser) but, then the frames just time out. When I am remote, it goes to "this page can not be displayed" or give me an access denied after I type in my login info. Everything was working pefectly before I updated these Frontpage ext in IIS. SO, it might be a permissions issue or it messed up Exchange web. I need help to get this working again. I tried to reinstall Exchange 2003 but, didn't do anything. Any idea on where I should look on this one? Has anyone had this problem before and how did they fix this? Do I need to downgrade the Frontpage ext ? Thanks in advance Tag: OWA foreign language!     - Share 20,000 mail folders in one account? I have a client using Outlook on four machines wanting to share the one mail account. This account contains everything they've done for the last two years and used to be a PST file on the one machine which they would all use. In order to share this mail I suggested an IMAP solution (MDaemon, specifically), but Outlook's behaviour doesn't seem suited to this solution. For instance, whenever we add a new mail folder from an Outlook client the folder gets added on the server nice and quickly but Outlook proceeds to download the entire list of folders (20,000 of them) again, resulting in a significant delay before anything can be done. I can prevent this by flicking the "only show subscribed folders" switch in the "IMAP Folders" settings, but then when you add a folder you're not automatically subscribed to it, and sooner aor later Outlook will download the folder "hierarchy" again and the folder will disappear. You then need to manually refresh the folder list and subscribe to the folder. Outlook Express, on the other hand, doesn't seem to have these problems. When you add a folder it seems to subscribe you to it. It doesn't seem to need to download the entire folder list again, and even if it does it lets you get on with your work. The question is, is my client going to be any better off with Exchange server? Will the public folders under Exchange server allow better handling of these folder lists in Outlook or will the sheer number of folders and sub-folders just lead to the same sort of problems? I'm not clued up on how Outlook retrieves its mail from the Exchange server, but if it's a similar process to how it handles IMAP then there's no point. Thanks cb -- Tag: OWA foreign language!     - Disaster Recovery I need some Disaster Recovery help. I have a windows 2000 server with Exchange 2000 Enterprise. This server is also my companyâ??s domain controller, DHCP, DNS, and Active Directory. My Exchange Server is a Compaq Proliant Server. Now, my job is if our Exchange 2000 Server goes down I have to restore my Exchange Server to a backup machine. Now, this backup machine is a Dell Server (Different Hardware). This is what I have done so far. I have backup my System State, Boot Partition, WINNT directory, and Documents and Settings directory (Windows Backup Set) from my Primary Exchange 2000 Server. Now, I restored this backup set to my backup Dell Server. My Dell server already had Windows 2000 Installed and the machine was just a standalone work group server. Now, once the restore was completed to my Backup Dell Server the system was restarted. Now, the backup Dell Server is like my Primary Exchange 2000 Server (Same Computer Name, etc.). Next, I reinstalled my video driver. Now, I have no question marks in my device manager. Next, I installed Exchange 2000 Enterprise in Disaster recovery mode. Then, I installed Exchange 2000 SP3 in Disaster Recovery Mode. Next, I installed Windows 2000 SP4. Now, My Information Store Service did not start, but I figured the reason is on my Primary Exchange 2000 Server I had virus scan. Therefore, on my Backup Dell Server I did not have virus scan, but it was still an entry in add/remove programs. Therefore, I uninstall virus scan from my Backup Dell Server. Restarted the server and this time all of the Exchange 2000 services started on my backup Dell Server. Now, the information store databases are not mounted. Next, I copied the contents of my MDBDATA from my primary Exchange 2000 Server to my backup Dell Server into the same directory as was the primary server. I mounted the databases. Now, everything seemed ok. Therefore, I went into Outlook on the Disaster Recover Dell Server (Backup) and log on. Now, in the left had panel I see the 2 entries for public folders and my E-mail account. I can get to the public folders and see the messages in the public folder; however, I can not get into my E-mail account. Now, when I go into the Event view on my Backup Machine there is an error message that says that there was a â??logon failure to the database of the information storeâ?? and something â??about canâ??t create E-mail accountâ?? I think. Therefore, what do I do to get pass this error? How do I get into my E-mail account? I must have missed a step or did something wrong. How do I correct this problem?     - upgrading from exchange 2003 beta2 I'm having a problem upgrading from beta2 to 2003 FCS. everytime I try the "Re-install" option, it tells me that it cannot re-install from the enterprise version to the standard version. Apparently the beta was the enterprise version, but the purchased version I have is standard. Does anyone have a solution (such as changing a registry entry) that would allow the install program to install the standard version over the enterprise version without losing any of my configuration information?     - OWA access to SBS2000 Exchange I have a new SBS2000 server that I now need to setup OWA for the users for home access to Exchange. This server is my first attempt at SBS2000 and first experience with Exchange2000. The "regular" mail is working fine, but I am unsure of how to setup the OWA. I tried using a dialup connection and Outlook2002 to access the server, but could not connect. In configuring Outlook it asks for my login/pwd, the servers IMAP4 & SMTP info (I'm not sure what to put here?), and the servers address: http://serversfqdm/exchange (this does not connect). I looked at the server(IMAP4) settings and under /access/auuthentication, it is set for "basic" authentication and the "domain name" is blank.     - NTBackup Won't backup Exchange Online Small Busiiness Windows 2000 Server. Software CD indicates exchsrvr2000 but in Help About it says 5.00 build 2195 sp1 NTbackup displays the 5.0 version. It does not appear to be Exchange aware. Windows OS says 5.00.2195 sp1. When selecting the exchange server busy files won't backup. Documentation says when installing Exchange server a special NTbackup replaces the Windows 2000 NTbackup. How can I tell which is which and can I load or reload just the exchange version of NTBackup?     - Exchange 5.5 when Active Directory has been damaged The active directory has been corrupted and I am planning to remove the AD from the computer containing Exhcnage 5.5. Will the uninstall of AD create users for all Mailboxes? This is not the last domain in the site but all AD will be removed.     - Exchange 2000 and Internet mail I took over the support of an exchange server on a windows 2000 server (only one server and only one domain). I can send Internet email to most places; however, I cannot receive any incoming email. My ISP says the pointers are correct; however, I don't get any Internet email.     - Small business wanting to use Exchange 2003...no idea where to start! I'd really appreciate some advice on this. We're a small real estate company looking to be able to share contacts, calenders, tasks, etc between each other. There are only 3 agents in the office, so I've been told Exchange would be overkill. However I can see no other way to accomplish what we want while still being able to utilize Outlook. Currently, we're all running XP Pro, as well as Office 2003, and we're on a small home office LAN. We're looking into gettin an entry-level server from Dell, but I'm not real sure what is recommended/required. I've been researching products, and from what I can tell, Small Business Server 2003 includes Exchange 2003, as well as 5 CAL's. Is this correct? Is Exchange something that someone with no experience in server software could run and maintain? While I'm quite experienced with Windows, and computers in general, I've never managed a server or used Exchange. Does Microsoft employ consultants that could come and speak to my company about these issues, and tell us what we need to do to get up and running with Exchange? That would be a great help!     - Server Side Scripting (Folder_OnMessageCreated) Morning, I've got a Agent script running on a test folder in Public Folders. What the script is suppose to do is take any new message placed in the folder and send it to a distribution list. This part is working great. The problem is that the from field always shows my account no matter who sends the email. I've got the script writing script.response = objSession.CurrentUser and it's showing my name. My question is how do I make the From field show up as the person that sent the email. I also need to set the Reply to field to be the email address for the Public Folder, so that all the responces are storred in the public folder, and are processed by the script. This is all being done to put "[listname]" in the subject line. Some people here refuse to use DLs to filter off of, and while and complain to the CEO if we remove them. I've tried objForwardMsg.Sender = objCurrentMsg.Sender but that doesn't help. I know that objCurrentMsg.Sender is reporting the correct thing, as I've had the script put objCurrentMsg.Sender in the objForwardMsg.Text and it shows the correct person. My code that I'm using is below. Any help would be great. The LogMessage Procedure simply takes the string passed to it and places it in a global var g_OutPutMessage. g_TrueDL is the email address of the Dist List that the script send the email to. g_TrueDLName is the name of the Dist List. g_SubjectTag is the tag that should be in the subject line. g_ReplyTo is the Reply address that people need to send the messages to.     - BookMark INVALID - NEED REAL HELP I am not able to connect to a freshly installed Exchange Server with a MAPI Client. I cannot resolve the name, it keeps telling me book mark invalid.     - Deleted Server appears in remote directory. I have a site that had a server deleted 6 months ago. The local site has no information about the server and it appears to be deleted. In another site that shares address information the server still appears in "Server Replication Status" and shows that it was last modified 6 months ago. The main issue I have is that the directory still thinks that people that were housed on this server still exist. So the remote directory shows people who have departed or are at another site. This causes a problem with people sending email to deleted addresses or to the wrong address. The local site is still replicating with the remote site with an existing server, but the existing server no longer has knowledge of the deleted server so it doesn't update the remote site. I have pushed directory replication every way I know how. I've tried to delete the deleted server using raw mode, but the option isn't available. I've even tried to use the directory import method to delete objects that belong to the deleted server, but nothing has worked up to this point.     - ADC between one Exchange 5.5 organization and Multiple Domains Here is my scenario: I'm running Exchange 5.5 and Active Directory in mixed mode with two one-way Active Directory connection agreements, one from Exchange to AD and another from AD to Exchange. We only have one Exchange org with one site and the AD has only one domain, which makes administration very simple. We are adding a second domain to our AD, but the mailboxes are going to be created in the existing Exchange organization. My question is how to best create or modify the AD connection agreements between the two. We currently have one one-way AD connection agreement to replicate the Exchange site to the existing AD domain. So when the new mailboxes are created in Exchange, the connection agreement is going to create a disabled NT account in the existing domain and not the new domain. Do I need to modify the existing connection agreement from Exchange to not replicate the entire site and specify the recipient containers individually? And then create a new recipients container for the new mailboxes, and create a second AD connection agreement to replicate this container to the new domain?     - Cannot see contacts in Exchange 2003 OWA Hello! I just installed the release candidate of SBS 2003 with Exchange 2003. I was using Outlook 2002 with a PST file holding my mail and contacts. I set up an Exchange mailbox and imported my Inbox and Contacts folders (and sub-folders for the contacts) from the PST to my Exchange mailbox Inbox and Contacts folders. All of my contacts are in subfolders of the Exchange server's Contacts folder...only one test user is directly in the Contacts folder. I set all Contacts subfolders with "Show this folder as an email address book" box checked for the folder. From Outlook, I can see the Contacts and subfolder, and I have it open to my Contacts\Personal subfolder by default. Using OWA. when I open a new message and click on To..., all I see is the Contacts folder and no subfolders.and only that one test user (directly in Contacts folder) is visible from OWA. None of the subfolders is visible from OWA...all I see is Global Address List (empty) and Contacts (with the one test user name). I want my subfolders to be visible from Outlook and from OWA. Can you give me some direction becuase the documentation I've found leads me to believe I need a "Front End" Exchange Server and a "Back End" Exchange Server.     - Moving organizational forms without Mig Wiz??? We are migrating from an Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003 architecture. Due to some design considerations we cannot migrate System Folders over... How do I get our organizational forms over? I don't have a good enough understanding of where my personal forms library is stored to know whether publishing to my personal library and moving that somehow will work... I tried publishing the forms to a folder, and then exporting the folder to .pst, but that doesn't keep the forms attached if i then re-open that .pst with an account on the new exchange box.     - IISLockdown Problems Hi, can´t access public folders in system manager after installing iislockdown (The operation failed due an internal server error. c1030af2) Everytime I try to uninstall iislockdown I get the following message: Starting undo...     - Trust relationship- 2- 2003 domains Hi; I have two A/D domains and both are 2003 Standard server. Domain 1 was migrated from Windows 2000 Domain 2 is fresh install 2003 I am trying to establish a trust relationship between the two but keep getting the following message: "You cannot modify domain or trust information because a Primary Domain Controller (PDC) emulator cannot be contacted. Please verify that the PDC emulator and the network are both online and functioning properly." I am at a loss & can't find a KB on this either. This error happens when I try to get properties of the domain 1 in the AD Domains and Trusts window.     - MS Exchange 2003 - I am desperate! As I am trying to migrate my Exchange mailboxes from an NT server with Exchange 5.5 over to my new Server 2003 with Exchange 2003, I am constantly getting an error message. I can see the mailboxes on the NT server, and I can even initiate teh migration process, but without fail, I get the error message. The message states that I need to check my application log, and when I do, the log file has a link to a website containing what is supposed to be the solution. Hello,

We've Exchange 2003 up & running for a while now. We (behind the firewall)
are using Outlook, while others (outside firewall) have to use OWA.

When users with OWA write in foreign language(Norwegian), it doesn't show
special characters (I beleive as it shows incorrectly here: øØ,æÆ,åÅ)
correctly!! Those who use Outlook dont have this problem!

I've tried to look at the config for Exchange and OWA without luck .... Any1
have any tips
for me?
