Is there a setting I need to correct? Currently my log files stay for
months.

Thanks

Which logfiles? Are you running an exchange aware backup?

Hello,

> Currently my log files stay for months.

thats correct.
The LOG Files are deleted automatically after a "correct" Backup. You can
use i.e. NTBackup for this.

The second choice (in enterprise environments, it is not really a choice)
you can enable the circullar logging option. After that, all LOG files will
be written into the EDBs immediatelly, and ongoing.

But then, you have no fully recovery option !

Roger

In the mdbdata directory along with the edb and stm files, there are tons of
log files. The backup server died a month ago. I'm about to rebuild it.

Good to know. Do the log files need to be in the same folder as the STM and
EDB files? If not, where do I change that setting?

Thanks

no.

Properties on the specific storage group. There you will find the path, and
a button to change ("browse"). Self explaining :-)

Roger
