I have a domain controller running SBS2003 serving 15 users. It is also used
for filesharing/print server, etc. I would like to also use it for exchange
(interoffice and internet mail), but have aprehensions about security,
reduced performance, etc. I have already installed an eval, and performance
seems to be okay, but I'm worried about a virus coming in thorugh email
(though I am running NAV) and bringing down the network. I see that MS
recommends a separate server, but my network isn't that big... Please
advise. I'm just looking for advice/knowledge from those who know before I
invest in a box just for exchange.

Also, what about using the POP server that comes with server2k3? Can I use
that for internet mail instead?

Thanks in advance.

If you are running SBS 2003 then you have no choice in the matter. SBS only
allows you to install Exchange 2003 on the SBS Sever. SBS 2003 is made to
run multiple applications, with that being said you will need to size your
hardware accordingly. For 15 users I would suggest a Dell 1800 with Dual
Processor, RAID 5, and at least 2GB RAM. This will be more than enough
server to handle your 15 users and apps. As for security, SBS 2003 has the
Email and Internet Connection Wizard the will secure your server.
