I am going to be installing a exchange 2003 cluster. I am planning to setup
2 disks (mirrored) for both quorum and the exchange logs.

For database I am using RAID 1+0 with 6 disks.

Is this ok?

Someone a little more cluster experience may jump in here and contradict me,
but I believe it is a clustering best practice to put the Quorum on its own
LUN and not to mix it with other application such as Exchange. I am
cross-posting to the clustering newsgroup.

It is and I would never disagree with you Jim!

How many storage groups? Each really should be on different LUNS for the
logs. Have you talked to your hardware vendor? They usually have some idea
how to setup Exchange on a cluster! They also have strong ideas about RAID.

I agree but i wouldnt want to waste 2, 146gb fiber channel drives just for
quorom. That will be enough for quorom and exchange logs in my environment.

Should i do it? Running 1 storage group, 5 databases.

90GB total

Hi,

The quorum disk can be presented to the systems on the same fibre cables as
the other LUN's.

True and you never waste disks with HA, you plan for it. Talk to your
vendor, you might be able to carve that 146 mirror into more LUNS.

tony

sounds like i would still need an additional raid 1 forthe quorom

for exchange logs: raid 1 LUN0
exchange database: raid 1+0 LUN1
quorom: raid 1 LUN2

I want to just do

exchange logs + quorom : LUN1
exchange database: LUN2

You can put the DTC on the Quorum LUN. I noticed that was missing from the
list.
