I am trying to install exchange 12 beta1 on x64 hardware but keeps prompting
me that exchange 12 needs mmc 3.0.

I have followed this link

Which method did you choose?

Using the RC1 MMC3 or using the RTM and modding the reg?

I tried installing RC1 MMC3 and that didnt work. SO I uninstall rc1 and
tried modding the reg. That didnt either.

Hmm, haven't seen that yet. It's not an answer I'd usually say but
since it's a lab environment (oh yes, it had better be your lab :-) )
so I'd reinstall the box quickly and make a careful note of the steps.
