I have just installed sbs 2003 with exhange 2003. I setup exchange with the
internet wizard. I am trying to determine if I can send email from this new
server. I am still running exchange 5.5. Is it possible to send a test
message from this new server. If you look in the que the message never
leaves. The old accounts came accross with no problem. Everything seems to
be running fine. How can I check if this new server is working correctly
before I take down the old 5.5 server.

Are you sending Internal or External Email? This could be a mulitude of
things as to why the messages are not being sent. What does the Queue say
when you open the message up. It should give you some sort of clue like
"unable to reach host" or similar. Have you updated your Firewall/Router
Rules for SMTP traffic?

I am sending it off the network. It is setting in the small business SMTP
connector que. It gives no message it just never leaves the que. We have a
cisco pix for the firewall.

Also the que says remote server did not respond to a connection attempt.

Ok, can you telnet to another SMTP Server from a command prompt at your
Server?

Ah Ha! Sounds like your Pix needs its rules updated to allow for the new
SBS 2003 to send/receive SMTP. Update these rules to allow SMTP both
inbound and outbound to your new SBS 2003 server Internal IP.
