    - Exchange newbie - please help me set up my servers I run a small windows 2000 network and have just purchased exchange 2003 as we now need calender sharing functionality. As I now have exchange, I would also like to use it for full email services (instead of the mail server I'm currently using). I have a company domain registered with an ISP (myname.co.uk), and the ISP hosts my email, and website. I have set up my windows 2000 domain to use active directory with a domain name of - ads.myname.co.uk All our email adresses use the ISP registered domain name (myname.co.uk), and this should continue with exchange. We have a broadband connection to the internet, which is allocated a dynamic IP address by the ISP. I have absolutely no idea how to get my email to myname.co.uk to come into our exchange server and not via the ISP, and what changes I need to make to the network(firewalls/ static IP addresses etc?). I apologise for my lack of knowledge, buthaveing now spent two weeks coming through a myriad of documents on the internet, I am more confused than ever!! Regards, Kevin.     - Pop3 virtual server IP address? Hello everyone, I am trying to setup the POP3 virtual server so a specific set of remote users can access their email using POP3(don't want to use RPC or OWA). However, when I create the POP3 virt. server the only ip address I can pick is on my LAN NIC and so I've tested it and it does indeed work on my LAN.     - Exchange 2003 Corrupt Install Won't Finish or Uninstall I installed Exchange 2003 two days ago, and had some issues. It seemingly did not install correctly. I am unable to use a number of functions due to services that can't start because of missing files, etc. When I attempt to uninstall it does not completely uninstall Exchange because of further errors, which means that I cannot start a fresh installation. When I try to change the installation options and reinstall Exchange it prompts for the name of the Exchange 6.5 server I want to upgrade. I don't have one. Is there a way to manually remove the Exchange components and start a fresh install, or do I have to blow away Windows 2003?     - 5.5 Key Mgmt Server kills eXmerge Here's a good one...My customer is migrating from Exchange 5.5 on NT 4 to a Exchange 2003 on a new Windows 2003 server...Co-existence was not needed so we installed the new Exchange 2003 and attempted to Exmerge user mailboxes... Well, it seems they had the Key Management Server installed with Exchange 5.5, then later moved Exchange 5.5 to another server but got rid of the original sever that also was the Key Management server...So the data stores / mailboxes are locked and Exmerge can't get at them to migrate. The problem is that with Active Directory setup any email sent to people outside of our Exchange Server who have @ebtech.net in their email addresses gets bounced back saying reciepent not found.     - Exchange interaction with IMAP mail server My situation: (cross posted on microsoft.public.exchange.design) Existing Linux mail server (in DMZ) running sendmail and public-exposed SMTP server, currently handling all email. Users on internal LAN are accessing email using IMAP in Outlook, or externally using Horde/Imp (freeware webmail client). I want to install Exchange Server 2003, mostly to make use of the more sophisticated features (shared calendars, contacts, etc). However the system admin (a Unix guy) wants to maintain the primary email on the Linux box, not on the Exchange server. (yes, I think this is stupid, but I am not in control...) So, two questions: 1. Is there any facility to set up Exchange as an IMAP *client* ? ... either to simply "expose" the IMAP folders as part of the user's Exchange mailbox; or else to synchronize the contents of the IMAP folders with equivalent folders in the user's Exchange mailbox. 2. (if #1 is not possible): I could be satisfied with having all email under the IMAP account in Outlook, and all other functions (Calendar, Contacts, etc) appear under the "Outlook Today" Exhange Mailbox account. However, I cannot quite figure out how to set up user accounts so that when I send an email internally to another internal user, the email gets forwarded to the Linux email server instead of going into the typical user's Exchange "Inbox". Also, any other suggestions as to how to proceed are welcome.     - Exch 2003 - Win98 & Outlook 98 - Logon Request We have upgraded to Exchange 2003. There are a number of Win 98 PCs wiht Outlook 98. The Win 98 PCs logon to the domaon OK When outlook 98 starts it asks users to login with User/Pword/Domain. We cancel this dialog and Outlook 98 then continues OK. We installed Outlook 2002 and all is OK, but the Win 98 PCs run too slow. So we would like to go back to Outlook 98. Any advice or has anyone see this issue.     - Exchange 2003/OWA Okay, kind of a strange one here.... I'm an old Exchange 5.5 hand, installing my first Exchange 2k3 on SBS 2k3. Everything is fine, except the Outlook Web Access. They were running into the bug with IE6 SP1, with the premium OWA client not working, and there were some SSL issues, so I fiddled a bit with the options and permissions to get them logging in cleanly and everything was working fine. The only problem was a 'page not found' error when logging out. Weird, but everything actually _worked_ so I let it be for a while. A day or two later some logins didn't get any icons in OWA. Everything still worked, but there were no graphics on the screen at all. A day or two after that, the icons NEVER show up on any login. The weirdest part is that no settings were changed between everything working okay and no icons showing up. There's no Proxy involved, and the problem shows up in a variety of IE versions, and when going to OWA right on the server. Anyone have any ideas?     - No Exchange Tasks in Active Directory Users and Computers Hi I have just installed Exchange 2000 SP2 on a Win 2K system. Install seemed to go fine, AD Schema has been modified, Exchange seems to be running. However... When I go to AD users to create a new mailbox enabled user, there is no Exchage Tasks Wizard. There are no Exchange related tasks at all that I can see. If I right click a user, no Exchange related tasks in the menu, and if I look at the user properties, there are no Exchange related tabs. As this is a test setup, Exchange is actually installed on the test Domain Controller. I tried unistalling and re-installing ESM, and no joy - still not showing anything useful in AD Users.     - Email address already exists error When I try to add an alias to one of the users in Exchange 2003 I get an error stating that the user already exists in the organization. We have 6 users, who's name or alias are not any where close. I tried deleting all their alias', and setting them up again, but that just seemed to make the problem worse. I tried following knowledge base 280765 but only came up with the original address. Is there a cleanup tool or some other tool I need to run to sync Exchange with AD to clear this problem up?     - Outlook Web Access - Exchange 2003 I'm having a problem with OWA on Exch2k3 and hoping someone can help. This is the 2nd Exch2k3 server I've installed over Win2k3 (a clean install, not an upgrade). With the first server OWA worked out of the box - no setting changes required. On this server, I did a standard install of Exch2k3. After the install, I renamed the Information Store and moved it to another disk drive. I then transferred all of my mailboxes from the first server to this one. Except for OWA, all of the basic Exchange functions work - users can connect with their Outlook clients, send and receive internal mail and send and receive Internet mail. When I point a browser to [server name]/Exchange, I get the expected authentification dialog box. Once I enter my domain, username and password, I get a strange screen that looks like a web page with broken links to all of its graphics. It almost looks like its trying to build a OWA screen, but there are no messages displayed. I've got a screen print of my browser window that I can send separately if anyone's interested. In the IIS console, everything looks ok. I can see the Exchange, Exadmin and ExchWeb directories. In fact, I mapped a drive letter to IFS and can even drill down to individual mailboxes. We have some corruption in the Information Store that we have not been able to rectify. I feel that this would be a great opportunity to start over - so to speak Also our company has changed its name since the mail server was first installed, so I would like to change the organization name etc. A few questions I have EXMERGE - "When to consider using other tools: When you also need to move directory information" What exactly is the Directory Information? My goal is to move all mailboxes (inbox, calendar, contacts etc) to a new server. By using EXMERGE (or by manually exporting each mailbox), am I going to lose some information when I import into the Exch 2K3 system Somewhere I remember reading about losing the ability to REPLY to messages after importing them into the Exch2K3 system.     - nt set up of ES for running outlook I have a home network and I am running two XP pro computers with a "server" (ok it's just an old Dell desktop) running NT 4.0 with exchange server. I just bought a new computer to replace an old one and I need the "new" one to "log onto" NT so I can sync outlook's card file and calendar with both computers. I understand this process is why I needed exchange server running on the NT. I have mapped the drives across the network and can print to a network printer and I set up e mail across the network (we have a DSL router, hub, whatever connected to the NT) with the "new" computer. I can not seem to "point" outlook in the right direction to see the calendar. The other computer is fine and I sync it with my PDA at home and with my office system. Whats the secret. Hi - you can install OWA from your Exchange CD - run setup and you can see
that you can add it.

I'd recommend looking into implementing SSL and using port 443 instead of
80, for increased security.
