I have a problem with the migration from an Exchange 5.5
server to a Exchange 2003 server
When I run the Migration Wizard I can connect to the
Exchange 5.5 and I can select the accounts (user), they
are all in the list. However when I select a user for
migration and click next the user icon in the list of mail
accounts has a red cross and when running migration it
does not migrate the user and show an error

please help!!
thanks
Urs

The alternative way to achieve the same goal is to use Exmerge.
Run Exmerge and connec to 5.5 server and copy all mailboxes into PSTs.
Then run Exmerge again on the E2K3 box and upload those PSTs.

Hi, there

I have same problem and ExMerge didn't work for me either. I found another posting (see "Subject: Exchange 5.5 To Exchange 2003 Migration Problem"). If they right nothing but Microsoft will help us. Any other suggestions?

You can run Exmerge 5.5 on the 5.5 end and copy all PST files.
Then bring the PST files to the new E2k3 server and run Exmerge 2003 and
upload those files.
(If you need the exmerge version of 5.5 search on the internet. If you
cannot find it, call Microsoft PSS and if you are just requesting the file
you will not be charged.)

Administrator doesn't have appropriate rights in Exchange. I've created user
for migration and gave it full control for Exchange. Now I can merge .PST
file to mailbox. But I still have problem to run full ExMerge process. I'm
getting these errors in log file:
> ______________________________________

(CADRoutines::GetExchange5xServerNameInfo)
> [14:36:06] 'GDC_SERVER' is running Exchange Server 5.x

Exchange Information Store service is running and that you have the correct
permissions to log on. - 0x8004011d ( (CMapiSession::GetMailboxesOnServer))

> [14:36:08] Error encountered getting mailbox information from the private
information store database(s) on server 'GDC_SERVER'. Make sure you have
adequate permissions on the Information Store object. Please refer to the
'ExMerge.log' log file for more information.

only solution I found so far is to export mailboxes from Exchange using
Migration Tool, then open each one in Outlook to remove password, rename
them from (Full Name).pst to (username).pst. Then copy accounts using ADMT
and merge resulting .PSTs with mailboxes on Exchange 2003.
