    - Migration Wizard error I migrated 5 users using the migration wizard without any problems. When I started with the 6th user it only moved the inbox mail. The migration wizard does not give an error message but the event log shows that "gw5mig.exe version 6.5.69440 fault module unknown, version 0.0.0.0 fault address 0x0000000". I have tried to migrate several more mailboxes and it still only moves the inbox. I am running Groupwise 6.0.2 on the novell server, Exchange 2003 on Server 2003. thanks in advance.     - Migration between two forests I currently have two active directory forests, each seperate and distinct. One runs solely to server an exchange 2000 server, the second is a windows 2003 domain in a seperate forest. I am trying to migrate the users from the exchange 2000 server to the new 2003 domain in the new forest. I am using exmerge to migrate user mail between the two sites, but I have two problems: 1) Folder permissions do not copy 2) When a user opens outlook 2003 they are prompted that exchange is in recovery mode and I have to go through the process of resetting the .ost file. Is there a better way to do this or is this my only option. Any help or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Robert J.     - mounting mapped IS store for recovery Hello, Is it possible to mount a recoverd information store from a mapped drive elswhere on an exchange server? We don't have enough room on our server to mount the store to recover data to the running store. So it it possible to do it from a mapped drive and recover that way?     - Decomission a site AFTER last ex5.5 server has been removed I screwed up and removed the last ex5.5 server in a site before decomissioning the site that had all it's email moved to a central E2K3 SP1 server in a different site. Does anyone know of a tool that will allow me to delete this orphaned site so I can then remove the last exchange 5.5 server from the central site and go native mode?     - DSScopeScan won't connect to Exchange 5.5 I just getting ready to do a migration from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 and while running the deployment tool I get an error when running the 'DSScopeScan' tool. The error message in the 'ExDeply.log' comes right after the parameters are ran and is: - Error: Could not connect to the Exchange 5.5 server 'Name'. Tools that require an Exchange 5.5 server will not run. I have tried to connect by either name, FQDN and IP with no luck.     - Exchange Migration from GW 6.5 Hello, Not sure if this is the right newsgroup but I thought I would start here. We are completing a migration from GW 6.5 to Exchange 2003. We have everything up an running, the GW connectors are working and we can send and receive mail from the Exchange system. We have one small problem.     - OWA loading messsage I have a W2K server running Exchange 2003. Out of the blue the content frame in OWA will not display any of the inbox contents only the word Loading... This only happens in IE. Mozilla based browsers work fine. I have gone through all of the KB articles I could find regarding this issue to no avail.     - Exchange 2003 HLEP!!! We migrated from 5.5 to 2003 the only real question we have it that the recipient policy was renamed so it would not match the system name. now the only way to receive mail is to set up relaying so mail will not bounce back. the question i have is can exchange 2003 be named the same as a system name?     - Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 migration. I am doing Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 migration. Here are the configurations: 1. Exchange 5.5 SP4 runing on Windows 2000 SP4. 2. First Exchange 2003 SP1 server, which is runing ADC and SRS joined to Exchange 5.5 orginization. 3. Second Exchange 2003 SP1 server as mailbox storage server joined to Exchange 5.5 orignization afterwards. Population of NT 4.0 to AD and ADC are all working fine. Moved mailbox to the first exchange 2003 (master), all the incoming/outgoing and internal/external communciation are all OK. When I move mailboxes to the second exchange server. Exch 5.5 client can send email to exch 2003 client without a problem and external incoming/outgoing email work fine as well. But when I am trying to send emails to an exchange 5.5 client, from an exchange 2003 client. turned on email tracking on exch 2000 box, and get the following "message rerouted to site connector <domain> (orginally unknown). It's getting sent to the right NT4.0 domain (so it seems), but the exch 5.5 client never sees the email. I checked the queue on the Exch 2003 side, all of them are stuck in the X.400 Exchange MTA outgoing queue. The queue state is showing as retry instead of ready.     - Hosted Exchange Hosted Exchange: Hello all and I would like to start this off by saying thank you for your time. I am looking to start up a hosted email service using exchange server. What I am trying to understand is this. How do I configure exchange to host multiple domain accounts for my hosted users? What I first though of doing was to register a domain and start an email service. Then it downed on me that I can offer domain email hosting for small companies that do not current have email hosting that would be more professional and organized, and best of all web based. (I'll get into the IMAP and POP hosting later). So what I am looking for is a document that details the step by step in configuring Exchange to host multiple domains. Also I attempted to do this and it seemed to work in my test run but one thing I noticed is that in the address book members from domainA could see users from domainB, this opens up some issue in privacy person someone can tell me what I did wrong .     - NT4.0 XP Pro SP2 Outlook 97 SR2 creates personal folder in Windows Hi, I just joined 2 new machines I buiilt to a NT 4.0 for Business domain. The machines are running XP Pro SP2 and all updates. They join ok. When I install Outlook 97 with SR2 it installs ok and loads the e-mail into the personal folders inbox. Then when I connect to the server as user it updates all the other information like contacts to the first set of folders. so I have 2 sets of folders. Is this normal or do I install differently. What I did. Connect to domain as admin OK Cconnect as user OK Pull Office off the server OK Apply updates to SR2 OK When I get to the individual user is when it gets messed up. It does not let me pull office off the server as user only as admin.     - Joining an exchange 2003 server to an exchange 5.5 site in prepara I am presently running a windows 2000 active directory domain with an exchange 5.5 mail server. I am in the process of upgrading to exchange 2003. I ran exchange forestprep, exchange domainprep and installed the exchange ADC. I then installed the exchange 2003 server by joining my existing exchange 5.5 site. Once completed, I went into in the exchange system manager and drill down to the mailboxes in the 5.5 server. When I right click to select exchange task to move mailbox I noticed that the option was not available.The only option that was available is help. Any idea on what the issue might be?     - Logs for incoming messages Hello, I have a client that says they are sending us messages. Their logs show that it did make it to our server. We don't ever see the messages in our inbox - even using OWA so I know it isn't any outlook rules. Could you tell me how I check the exchange logs?     - Exchange 5.5 to 2003 migration problem Hi, I'm trying to migrate my mailboxes from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 server using Migration Wizard but it fails on me. I need your help, please advise. Background: I have an Exchange 5.5 with SP4 running on Windows 2000 member server of a domain called texas.us.mydomain.com. Users are located in this "texas" domain and everything in this domain works fine, no known problems. The Exchange server's organization name is "org", the site name is "site". There is an ADC between Windows 2000 and Exchange 5.5, this ADC is installed very recently as part of the Exchange 2003 installation. I installed a new Exchange 2003 Enterprise server on Windows 2003 server which is a member of parent domain called us.mydomain.com. The FQDN name of the Exchange if mail.us.mydomain.com. Everything is working on this domain as well as the users of us.mydomain.com can sent and receive email. Also, I have created some mailboxes on the new Exchange "mail" for the users of users of texas.us.mydomain.com. Everything is fine, at least I don't see any problems so far except when migrating the mailboxes from Exchange 5.5 to 2003. Problem: Using Exchange Migration Wizard, I cannot just move the mailboxes, when I do, I get "Migration Failed" error message in the event log. I run the Connection Agreement Wizard found in the ADC and it gives me an error indicating that my organization name of Exchange 5.5 doesn't match the organization of Exchange 2003. Questions: 1) Does this mean, I will have to change the organization name of Exchane 5.5 to match the Organization of 2003?     - Exchange setup incoming email not going to client I am running Exchange as part of Windows SBS server. The internal email works correctly. Users can send email out through the server, the return mail is added to the users mailbox ( checked using server manager ) but when the user logs on he only receives the internal emails. I am performing unattended installs of Exchange 2003 SP1, and when the service pack is installed, it gets part way through the install, and then reboots the server - as if I had clicked shut down > restart. During the end of the exmerge the transaction logs filled up the drive and killed the exmerge.     - Exch setup recommendations Hello, I would like some thoughts on the best way to arrange an Exchange install using the given hardware. I know the following disk arrangement is not ideal for optimal performance, but this is the hand I've been dealt and it's not going to be changed. We only have about 50 users, but e-mail usage is pretty intense. I have 3 SATA Raptor drives that will be in a Raid 5 array, as well as 2 IDE drives that will be software mirrored. Is it best to put the OS and log files on the software mirrored drives, and the exchange databases on the Raid 5? What about the exch application and the page file? I wish I had a better setup to work with, but I want to make the most of what I have. It is possible I guess that I might get a hold of a 3rd set of drives (SATA, RAID1). If this were to happen, what would be best? The IDE drives are what I'm most concerned about, what piece will suffer least by being on this software mirror? Thanks! I removed the exhange server manually as it would not let me uninstall and removed the record from active directory using the exchange system manager and right clicking and deleting it. I was trying the test again this time creating an exchange 2000 server on the same domain but on a different site when I realised that I could not mount a store on either of our main Exchange servers. Experience has thought me that it is impossible to do any tasks (install, uninstall, update, install servicepacks) if the schema master is in another site (with another subnet). By default I have the automatically update based on recipoent policy turned on. This started to happen today after the network people went and changed our IP network address, the Exchange servers have a different IP numbers now. I have stopped and restarted the IIS services. All seems to work, mail is being sent and received by existing users. This affects on new users created since the change. No errors being reported. We have a FE/BE setup. Any help ?     - POP3 Connection Question Hello all.... I have a SBS 2000 server that hosts a domain.com.au. I just changed ISPs, and for now what they have done is forwarded all of my domain.com.au mail to the IPS account email address. The company only consists of 6 email addresses, so this isnt a big deal. I did check the Exchange Connector for POP3 Mail. And set it up, it is working (using the Global ISP Mail Hosts, and its working very well... One small question, IF the ISP email address gets emails that arent directed to my domain.com.au (or are directed to the actual IPS email address) what does my exchange server do with this mail? I tested it by sending my ISP account an email (addressed to the ISP account). The exchange server picked up all the mail in the account, and now the test message is gone... I dont know where it is on the exchange server. Is anyone able to tell me where it has gone? The reason for all of this, is that any DNS or domain changes I make with my ISP have to be sent via their ISP account. Which is all fine, as i do it via webmail. But the responses i get from them get eaten up by my exchange server, never to be seen again. So i get no confirmation of work done!!!! I'm comfortable with the settings and what is being filtered so I no longer want to archive. Would be better to set spam to be deleted or bounce it back to the sender?     - Exchange Single Server not sending external email Well it will send external email via SMTP if I allow anonymous relaying, but otherwise, it won't authenticate any of the users via the exchange mail engine or via SMTP. In those cases, I continue to get errors. This is a new installation of Exchange 2003 SP1 installed on Win2003 server SP1. I have done a bunch of SBS installs, and this particular company should of gotten SBS as well, but they didn't. Anyways, I am trying to emulate an SBS installation on a single server here. The company has external DNS hosting for their domain and I will have them point their mail to the server which will reside inside their network. I have already allowed the proper ports through the firewall. Thh domain has been setup with an internal domain name so that it won't interfer with the external domain and so they won't need to worry about syncronising DNS internally and externally. The error message I am getting when trying to send email is: You message did not reach the following recipient(s): some@externaldomain.com on Sat, 16 Jul 2005 15:39:21 +1000 The e-mail address could not be found. Perhaps the recipient moved to a different e-mail organization, or there was a mistake in the address. Check the address and try again. <servername.mydomain.internal #5.1.8 smtp;553 5.1.8 <testuser@mydomain.internal>... Domain of sender address testuser@mydomain.internal does not exist> I tried setting up an SMTP connector to forward all email to the ISP mailserver but that hasn't made any difference. This is really sounding like a permissions issue, but I haven't been able to figure it out.     - Multiple Organisations Question Hi I currently have multiple AD schemas and multiple Exchange Organisatrions 8 AD Domains 3 Exchange Organisations We wish to standardise the platform and roll out Exchange across the whole organisations. As well as this we eventually aim to have a single schema and messaging organisation However, as thats a milestone away we wish to continue with the initial phases. This is to ensure all companies within the group have a single messaging platform. Now what I was thinking of doing was to create a single new AD schema as a Exchange Forest and then create trusts from all the other domains to this. This would allow for single messaging directory, calendar functionality and serve the immediater requirements. Going down the road we aim to then create a NEW source domain and then collapse all the other domains into OU's. We would then also use 3rd party tools and migrate the Exchange organisation to the new domain......... Would the new Exchange Forest solution work?..I am 99% certain this is the route to take but wanted to know of any real world problems that may arise fromt his?
