    - EX07: System Attendant doesn't start on startup Hello, we have two Win08 servers with one running Exchange 2007. Both servers are AD-servers and having both a global catalog. After a reboot of the second server, Microsoft Exchange System Attendant doesn't start automatically, allthough the startup option is set to "Automatic". We can start up the service without any problems, so this seems to be a dependency problem. According to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940845/en-us we changed the dependencies of the service (Method 2) (NtLmSsp (NT LAN Manager Security Support Provider) isn't available in Win 2008) and also added the Kerberos KDC service. But still we get errors like Log Name: Application Source: MSExchangeSA Date: 5/5/2008 3:33:36 PM Event ID: 1005 Task Category: General Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: exchange.wi1.uni-hohenheim.intern Description: Unexpected error The local machine must be a Kerberos KDC (domain controller) and it is not.     - 2nd Server - redirects I recently added a second Exchange 2003 std. server. Both machines appear under Exchange System Manager\Servers. Both machines have SSL certs for OWA, but cert names do not match machine names, for example: ServerA.domain.com(machine name) has a cert "mail.domain.com" ServerB.domain.com(machine name) has a cert "mail2.domain.com" My problem comes up when a user logs into the wrong machine. If a user outside our network connects to "mail.domain.com", but his mail resides on the other server, he logs in and is immediately redirected to "ServerB.domain.com". This creates 2 problems. First, it generates a cert error, because the user has been directed to "ServerB.domain.com" and the cert says "mail2.domain.com. Second, once the user accepts the cert error and elects to continue, he is forced to login a second time, then (finally) he is allowed to view his mail. So, what I would like to have happen is: If a user outside our network connects to "mail.domain.com", but his mail resides on the other server, he logs in and is immediately redirected to "mail2.domain.com" instead of being redirected to "ServerB.domain.com". This would eliminate the cert error. Is that do-able? And second, once the user is properly routed, I would like for the user to not have to log in a second time. Is all of this possible?     - error when open help from Exchange System Manager Hi all, My 2003 SBS had a difficult problem in exchange server. This error will appear every time when I open the help button in Exchange System Manager. I have the problem in my server. And I can't find any solution for fix the problem. Now, I had bought a new server for replace the old server. I installed all server programs (SBS, Antivirus......) and updated all service for SBS (service pack 1, service pack 2, exchange server pack, windows update......). But the problem still appears in the new server even though I have not begun to configuration yet. I don't know whether my step of installation is wrong.     - "Send Again" from quarantine mailbox Hi folks, I am trying to implement the quarantine mailbox in our native Exchange 2007 organization. Followed all the guides on the subject, messages are quarantined correctly based on the SCL, and I am able to use the "Send Again" feature of Outlook to release false positives to their intended recipients. However when doing so, the messages arrive at the destination with the "From" header/field populated with the address of the quarantine mailbox, rather than the original sender?? I am not sure what I am doing wrong here, but this is a big problem for us. We already had several cases where the users simply "reply" to the released message so their reply ends up in the quarantine mailbox as well, instead of being routed to the original sender.     - Cannot find at least one domain controller running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later in domain Hello I try to install Exchange 2007 on our 64bit Windows Server 2003 R2. I installed all prerequisites and there reside two domain controller in the network. 1 Windows Server 2003 with SP2 and the 64bit machine. The domain functional level is Windows 2003, all FSMO roles resides on the 64bit machine. We now have to problem, that te setup process stops wit the error message "Cannot find at least one domain controller running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later in domain". I checked the installation with netdiag, dcdiag and so on, and found no problems. It seems that this issue is caused by the "setup /PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions" command, wich is executed during this test. I started this command from command line with the /dc parameter and got the same errormessage. The checks for the roles are succussful (DCs are cheked there too, and there it works). Does anbyody know, how we can fix that problem?     - Time stamp issue for Thunderbird clients Hi Our company recently migrated to exhange 2007 and Imap connection is established thru SSL ie 993. Before that there is no SSL. All the outlook and OWA users had no issues with Mail Time Stamp. But people using Thunderbird and Mozilla client (connecting thru IMAP SSL) had issues with Mail Timestamps.     - email delivery After the server site loaction has changed, I have been running my email server exchange 2003 for a few months. Usually, it's taking about 1 or 2 mins to get the email.     - purportedsearch I have just installed Ex2k7 and at the end of the install I have an error message after the Mailbox Role install (which failed): 'The Exch server address list service failed to respond. This could be because of an address list or email address policy configuration error.' I found MS KB935636 and I appear to have cause 3. However, the article is unclear as to how to fix it. One solution involves deleting the entire value in the recipient policy via ADSIEdit. If I delete this value, what happens to my policy which exists on my Exch2k server?? I would think I would still need it for mailboxes on the Ex2k server (which is all the mailboxes at this point).     - Move cluster name and IP to Exchange group on 2007 CCR cluster I have a new Windows 2007 setup with two mailbox servers (Windows 2003 R2 x64) in a CCR/Minority node set cluster with file share witness and I have a question about the cluster group. The servers only have a few users on it at this time, but we're getting ready to start migrating our existing users from our 2003 system. The mailbox cluster is called EXMBC1. The two nodes are EXMBC1a and EXMBC1b (these are not the real names). The cluster admin shows two groups, the "EXMBC1" group with all the Exchange stuff in it, and the "Cluster Group" with the name and IP of the management name (EXMBC1M), and the MNS witness resource. When we do a manual failover of the Exchange group (from the Exchanage console and/or management shell), the Exchange group switches to the other node, but the cluster management IP and name stay on the original server (unless I move it from the Cluster Admin) What I'm trying to find out is if I can put the "cluster group" resources in the Exchange mailbox cluster group so that if I do a manual failover of the Exchange group, the "cluster group" fails over too.     - Kerberos error "KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED" in Exchange 2007 CCR mailbox servers I have a new Windows 2007 setup with two mailbox servers with Windows 2003 R2 x64 in a CCR/Minority node set cluster with file share witness . It's only got a few users on it at this time, but we're getting ready to start migrating our existing users from our 2003 system. The mailbox cluster is called EXMBC1. The two nodes are EXMBC1a and EXMBC1b. Our internal domain is "company.local" (these are not the real names). It seems be working OK, the cluster fails over within 30 seconds, the users are getting the email, but I've noticed about once a day, usually overnight, the system event log shows a Kerberos error, ID# 4 in each mailbox server: ************************* The kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server host/exmbc1b.company.local. The target name used was exmbc1. This indicates that the password used to encrypt the kerberos service ticket is different than that on the target server. Commonly, this is due to identically named machine accounts in the target realm (company.local), and the client realm. Please contact your system administrator" ********************************** The cluster was installed using the normal setup, the hardware is new and nothing very unusual. I've done some searching, but not found too much that seems to apply. I've seen some articles that address this error, but they seem to be related to an issue where the info store won't start after a failover; ours seems to start OK.     - Mailbox Manager Settings When adding a new folder to the Mailbox Manager Policy, is it possible the use wildcards? We would like the policy to delete all messages in the users "Deleted Items" folder and any other subfolder called "Deleted Items".     - Exchange 2007 Send Connector problem with Internal email address We have an E2K3 and an E2K7 server. The E2K3 will be retired soon after all maiboxes moved to the E2K7. I setup a send connector on the E2K7 Hub Transport server (we don't have Edge transport setup), and the configuration is identical to send connecot on the E2K3 server. I can send email out of all internet email addresses with the send connector on E2K7 but NOT to an internal email address, that is email with our mail domain @jaco.com. I have no problem on the send connector on the Exhange 2003 server. Since I will need this send connector to work properly before I can retire the E2K3 server, please let me know how to get it setup properly.     - Unable to download OAB after E2K7 upgrade I am trying to use the offline address book from public folders but am unable to download it in Outlook (2007,2003). The GAL and OAB has been moved to the 2007 mailbox server. To make sure of this I even shut down my legacy servers and removed my client "cached mode" so I verify that I could access the GAL.     - Removing existing Exchange server 2007 from AD / or Domain in preparation for new install I currently have a Exchange server 2007 that was installed into a new domain (that isn't in production yet) within a Virtual Machine (VMware). I've decided not to use vm and install it on new physical hardware. I understand there is a way to move the installation from one machine and restore it on a new machine (/recoverserver parameter) but I think for this case it would be easier to just re-install.     - Outlook 2003 Error: 0X80004005 Hi, I noticed that my Outlook 2003 clients are getting the following "Sync Issues" error: Microsoft Exchange offline address book 0X800004005 My Outlook 2007 clients don't get this error, but I suspect that is because they don't use an offline address book. My Exchange 2003 Server migrated to Exchange 2007 a while ago and I suspect this is when the errors started. I'm pretty sure that step 1 of "To remove the last Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2000 server from an Exchange 2007 organization" found at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb288905.aspx has been preformed, but I can't say for sure.     - Test-MapiConnectivity failure on Exchange 2007 in coexistence with I'm seeing a problem in my production rollout that I did not see in my test environment. The environment is as follows: - Exchange 2003 server on Windows 2003 - New Exchange 2007 (08.01.0240.006) on Windows 2003 R2 (64-bit) Mail is still received by the 2003 server but is now sent via the 2007 server. Mail works perfectly for all accounts on the 2003 box (sending and receiving both internally and externally). SYMPTOMS Any accounts on the 2007 server cannot send mail. Messages are received from externally and from 2003 accounts. In OWA a message that is sent sits in the Drafts folder. In Outlook 2007 a message that is sent goes into the Sent Items. In neither case does the message actually get sent. When I use the Mail Flow Troubleshooter I select "messages sent by users are pending submission on their mailbox server". After checking the Mailbox Server Role Health I get the following errors: '\MSExchangeIS Mailbox\Messages Queued for Submission' is not making progress The value for the '\MSExchangeIS Mailbox\Messages Queued For Submission' counter on server SERVER is greater than zero (average value is 1) and it appears that 'MSExchangeMailSubmission' is failing to submit messages to at least one computer with the Hub Transport server role installed over the last minute. Test-MapiConnectivity failure for mailbox database 'First Storage Group\Mailbox Database' Result of Test-MapiConnectivity for mailbox database First Storage Group\Mailbox Database on server SERVER was '*FAILURE*' with Error='[System.ArgumentException]: Either a mailbox domain name or both the mailbox GUID and mailbox database GUID must be specified.'. Do you know what the problem might be? As this is a production environment I don't want to try things blindly, and my test environment did not have this problem. Could it be a permissions problem?     - Management Tools Setup Error Hi All, I have a rather interesting scenario, whereby for some reason or another I am unable to install the Microsoft Exchange 2007 Management Tools on my Windows Vista Ultimate Workstation. The cause is so broad that I had to reach out to someone on this forum in hopes that one of you have run into and have been able to resolve. To be more specific, the error that I am getting is simply â??setup has encountered an errorâ?? nothing more.     - Removing Exchange 2000 server from Exchange 2007 environment I installed a new Exchange 2007 Server that ran concurrently with an Exchange 2000 Server. I gradually moved all the mailboxes until I finally had them all. There was still the problem of a certain application that had server information hardcoded in that finally got changed this week. Everything is now on the New Exchange Server, including Public Folders and offline address books. So I shut it down to see if everything would function ok. It did, with the exception of a single client computer. When I shut down the 2000 box, Outlook will receive EMAIL but will not send. It asks for a password for the user to logon to the old Exchange Server. The Outlook client is set up exactly the way every other Outlook Client is. The Version is Outlook 2003. Send Connectors are on both Servers. They route to a spam filter I use as a smart host. No Routing groups exist between the two servers. I deleted them earlier this week. I have the utility IGetmail running so that it will download messages from the POP3 server (hosted) to assigned exchange accounts. I was finally able to get this working within the network. However, setting up RPC over http has become a nightmare. I have followed every single article I could find on google all to no luck. OWA works fine, but when I attempt to use outlook it tells me it can not find the server. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciate. Thanks. Everything goes OK for the typical Exchange installation but the installation fails for Client Access Role.     - Failure when adding Exchange 2003 server to a mixed 2003/2007 setu Hello, Hopefully someone can help with a problem we are having. We have a working domain with two Exchange 2003 servers. A Exchange 2007 server was added to this domain at a later date and they have all happily lived together. We now need to add another Exchange 2003 server to this domain but the install keeps failing when updating the AD on the DC. It creates the server container but fails to create anything underneath. The error we are seeing is: ScSetTypeInfoOnServerObject (f:\titanium\admin\src\libs\exsetup\exmisc.cxx:1092) Error code 0X80072014 (8212): The requested operation did not satisfy one or more constraints associated with the class of the object. Has anyone else seen this? I believe that once a domain has moved from being mixed Exchange 2003/2007 to only Exchange 2007 no Exchange 2003 boxes can be added into the domain, but I thought that more 2003 boxes could be added to mixed domain.     - OWA problems with win2008/exch 2007 sp1 I have a newly installed exchange 2007 sp1 on a win 2008 std server (no pre-existing exchange in my company) the DC is also a (different) win2008 std server (we also have a win2000 dc). the FSMO roles are on the win2008 1) when we go to https://web.companyA.com/owa we get the logon screen, then owa appears with place markers for the graphics, and the menu text. the emails don't appear. I have read a few site talking about an exch03 hotfix and rights, but iis7 is *very* different then iis6 i'm lost as to where i need to look. I did notice that win 2008 did not create a IISR_machine account, but there is a IIS_USR group (empty) do i need to create a user? what rights/etc? if i use forms based authentications, i can't even get the logon screen to appear. i get this URL: https://mail.companyA.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?url=https://mail.companyA.com/owa&reason=0 and a blank screen. 2) my server is authoritive for companyA.com and non-authoritive [external relay domain] for company.com (so far in my initial test this works great :-) ) I would like my users to login as username, or email.address@company.com not username@companyA.local Any ideas, Tag: I can't recieve an email just from one email server and it's ok from Tag: 166257

We bought a new server which I installed Exchange 2003 Enterprise Edition and updated with Exchange Service Pack 2. The old Exchange Server Name is AESEX the new server's name is AESEXC. When I opened the Exchange System Manager on the new server I recognized that under the administration group I can see both the new and old servers. My question is, is this the way it is suppose to be. If not, please let me know how I can correct it. Hi every body.

We have an Exchange 2003 email server behind a firewall. We can
receive emails from everybody except the emails that come from
mx.e.telefonica.net. All our clients that uses this mailserver (MX)
recieve the next error:

"Delivery to the following recipients has been delayed."

Then they receive the next error:

"did not reach the following recipient(s):
