I have read so many articles about Exchange needing WINS.

Does it need WINS or not? This is exchange 2003.

Here is a good link but I don't know if the points are all actually correct
or not.

The reason I am working to find out is I have a master browser nightmare
with machines promoting themselves and then My Network places not updating.

I realize that isn't wins but why add something that apparently isn't
needed, well depending on the day or time you find an article.

Yes it is required, at least according to
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;837391 and also
http://msevents.microsoft.com/cui/WebCastEventDetails.aspx?EventID=1032281667&EventCategory=5&culture=en-US&CountryCode=US
