to configure Exchange 2003 on Windows 2003 server with a front and back end
server using SSL as well as OWA and Activesync. We are also using an ISA
firewall. Everything works except Activesync. Any pointers would be greatly
appreciated.

TIA...Bob

Hi,

Difficult to say with the information supplied.

What error messages to you see when trying to sync?
Any error messages logged in the application log?

This might help:

The PDA is getting a HTTP_500 error
Server side we are getting an EventID 3031

I keep getting pointed to Microsoft's KB arcticle 817379 but it says setup a
front-end (already done) and the second solution is for an environment
without a front-end server.

Is it not possible to run OWA and Activesync with SSL in a front/back end
environment? What am I missing?

Hi,

You have not configured the /exchange directory on the backend server to
require SSL right?

See this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;817379

I found the problem. Somehow Integrated Authentication was not enabled on
our Front-end server. Enabling this rectified the problem.
