    - SBS2003 Exchange ,POP3 Connector not fwd bad addresses My Pop3 connector picks up all the mail routes the correctly addressed mail but rather than fwd the mail onto me (administrator) it is sending a NDR to the the sender . I reallly need the wild card .it was working but ive been off sick amnd they got somebody in to fix anotherissue but i think theve may have fixed the wrong one . a place where i might start looking would be helpful.     - Re: Set up of MS Exchange Server with single NIC Is is me or did I read something wrong. I have single MS Windows 2003 Small Business Server. The server has a single LAN Adapter and connects to the Internet through a router/firewall. So the Router has local IP address that the Business Server uses as it's gateway to to the Internet. It use to be that you had to have two LAN adpaters to connect up an email server to the Internet with. However, I had heard with with the 2003 Small Business Server you could get away with only one? Is that right or is that totally wrong? When I run through the Internet setup Wizzard it asks me if I only have single LAN adapter and acts like that's ok until it starts the finalization process and then pukes and says their is network connection issue that is unresloved. However, Internet access works great when people log in ..... so I am not sure what is going wrong in the set up process.....any one set one of these up with just a single LAN adpater and can lend me a hand I would appreciate it... When I installed Arcserve 11 with the agent for exchange, I got an error: You first have to install Exchange before you can install the agent for Exchange.     - Exchange DNS Setup Question Well, here is the rundown of what I am doing. This is my first server setup from scratch, so please bear with me :) I am setting up a new file server & mail server to replace our existing ones. Both are W2K3 Servers - one with Exchange 2003. I have the fileserver setup as a DNS Server. I have the internal IP of the exchange server box setup for DNS to point to fileserver. I then added in the external IP under the additional IPs area. However, I have 2 DNS server address that my ISP provided to me. I am not sure if I need to put these in anywhere. On the old server (WNT4 - Exchange 5.5) (I didn't set it up - have just maintained it), they have it setup with Proxy Server installed (not sure why - since we have a separate proxy server that our internet goes through). Then, they have the internal nic setup just with IP & the external NIC setup with the public IP from our ISP & the 2 dns servers provided by our ISP.     - OWA & OMA From internal network I'm running Exchange 2003 with OMA & OWA all on one server. OMA & OWA are work fine from the external network using the domain name the we have registerded (mail.abc.com). But with I try to access mail.abc.com from the internal LAN a can not access OMA or OWA. I'm assuming something on my firewall is blocking this access but i just don't want to start opening ports. Once the migration has taken place, the GW server will be taken offline. I have read that the Microsoft wizards only support migrations from older versions of GroupWise and if you have GroupWise 6 or 6.5 I should go with a third party migration tool.     - Still Stuck I have a mail server with two NICs. One is internal, one is external. Routing is not enabled. If I set TCP/IP filtering on the external adapter to only allow traffic to 25 and 53, I can't send but I can receive OK. With TCP/IP filtering on, I can receive but not send, all messages sit in the Outbound queue with the tag <network error...' - a DNS sounding problem. NSLOOKUP doesn't work. So, are my DNS requests not going to 53? Is that what this is telling me? With no filter, everything is fine. For example, all of our website etc is hosted by a hosting company. Our internal network in the office has a domain similar to company_name.int. Is it possible for us to change the mx record of the company_name.com to the IP of our exchange box, and have exchange handle email for the domain company_name.com, rather than email under the domain company_name.int ?     - Exchange 2003 and 5.5 co-existance question We've recently introducted a new Windows 2003 server into our organisation and connected onto our existing Exchange 5.5 bridgehead server using X.400. The servers communicate OK. The Windows 2003 server has a different domain name to the Exchange 5.5 site. I've included both domain names in inbound in the IMS. We can send messages from the bridgehead and they address correctly, but when we send from the Exchange 2003 server the message is sent to the bridgehead and dispatched to the WEB but the recieving address is incorrect, looks like: IMCEAEX-_O=xxx_OU=xxx_CN=server_CN=xxx@xxx.co.uk The internet address is converted to the address of the bridgehead server and not the orginating user which should be yyy@yyyy.co.uk.     - OWA in a small environment So I'm looking into Exchange 2003 deployment options for midsized customers. Customers that currently have say 50 users but expect to grow over the next year or two to maybe 200 users. Because of that and some other limitations of SBS I have been looking at a regular deployment of Exchange 2003. I've read a lot of the technet and KB stuff and I understand the "recommended" way is to do a front end/back end server setup for OWA. However, my smaller clients have only 2 servers... 1 for domain infrastructure such as global catalog, dns, dhcp, etc. And another set asside for Exchange. In this setup can OWA be run on the single Exchange server and be accessed from the internet? I assume it can as SBS allows for this, but the MS site doesn't talk about it. I guess the ultimate question is what is the absolute minimum in the way of number of servers one can get away with when doing a Win 2003 standard server deployment with Exchange 2003?     - Message Routing Help Urgent Hi I have a trust relationship configured between my two forests. Each forest has an Exchange 2003 Server. I do not have any service packs enabled and I have disabled Norton Mail Security services. I have 2 SMTP connectors configured on each Eachange server. The first is the default created with the Internet Mail Wizard, using the * as the Address space while the second forwards the mail using the smart hosts [192.168.x.x] where this is the IP address of the remote Exchange server. Therefore mail being sent from one internal user to another in the remote domain should go across the connector. The connection between the two offices is pretty good. However messages are going into the 192.168.x.x SMTP connector queue and are never sent. When I try to force a connection it says Retry and still is not delivered. When I check the Mailroot\vs 1\Bad Mail. I find messages in there. Why is this happening and what can I do so that the mail is routed correctly to the users.     - Exchange 2003 ForestPrep Problem I am getting the following error when running Forest Prep for E2K3: Setup failed while installing sub-component Microsoft Windows Active Directory Schema update with error code 0xC1037AE6 (please consult the installation logs for a detailed description). You may cancel the installation or try the failed step again. The error log tells me that it is on schema4.ldf when it failes and the ldif.err displays the following error: Add error on line 210: Unwilling To Perform The server side error is "Schema update failed: An attribute with the same link identifier already exists." An error has occurred in the program. The only thing that I have found on this was KB328661 and it doesn't really fit my error so I'm not sure where to go from here. I have also tried removing the part that is erroring from the schema4.ldf file but it just fails on the next one. My setup is as follows: I have a Windows 2000 Active Directory running in Native Mode, and Exchange 5.5 SP4 with the ADC installed from the Exchange 2000 Setup disk (we were originally going to install E2000). This stuff all works fine. In Exchange 2003 setup I am taking the Coexistance with Mixed Mode Exchange 2000 and Exchange 5.5 since it is the one that fits the best I think. Can anyone help??????     - Moving Mailbox 5.5-->2003 I am trying to migrate from a exchange 5.5 sp4 server to a new exchange 2003 sp1. They are both running on Server 2000 sp4. Everything seems to be working okay, I can open the Exchange admin on both computers and see the other computer. However when I open the Exchange System manager and try to move a mailbox by right clicking on the mail box and selecting Exchange Task>Move Mail Box I get an error. If I click on the link for event 9175 the information provides the following as a possible issue. The System Mailbox object that is created for this mailbox store exists in the Microsoft Exchange System Objects container Which if I open AD Users and Computers I see this is true. my question is whether or not I can move this to another conatiner, if so does it matter which one and is this really my problem.     - Exch2003 - Creating mailboxes for existing user accounts. I'm in the process of moving an existing W2kSBS/exch2000 AD domain, to a W2K3 Standard Server/Exchange2003 AD domain. There is no migration path for this senerio so I have created the new W2K3 domain and installed Exch2003. On the SBS server,I can export a .csv file using CSVDE and edit that to use on the new W2K3 server to import the user accounts. This creates all the user accounts I need with al lthe attributes I want, however Exchange did not create the mailboxex associated with the user accounts. I have a tool to export the old mailboxes and import them to the new mailboxes. I'm just looking for a quicker way to create all the user accounts and mailboxes one at a time. Obviously it would have IIS on it and there would be an Exchange server (2000 on 2000) on the LAN behind the DMZ.     - Moving Mailboxes Across Sites Hi I have an Exchange 2003 organisation in one site which hosts approximately 15 users. I have another Exchange 2003 organisation in another site which hsot approximately 10 users. The two sites are connected via a 2 way trust relationship. One user in the remote site has a mailbox appromx. 1.8GB in size. I am trying to move that mailbox across to the other site using the Migration Wizard, however I am getting the error "Invalid server specified, or you do not have permissions required to complete the operations". I am sure I am entering the correct information for the Exchange server in the remote site. Could you please tell me what I am doing incorrectly or what I am missing.     - Repost - smtp address equals server fqdn As KB 288175 explains, our HQ E2K3 server won't send to our branch office 5.5 server because 5.5 server's FQDN (pa.abc.com) is same as 5.5 SMTP address (@pa.abc.com). 288175 says to rename server, but we can't, or change E2K3 Recipient Policy to @abc.com and we did, and that works -- pa users' smtp address is not really changed but E2K3 is happy. However, the @pa.abc.com address replicates back into Recipient Policy each night (changes from AD to 5.5 are put into a .csv file, but 5.5 changes are allowed to replicate through) and breaks mail from the HQ E2K3 to the pa 5.5 server again. To solve this, we are willing to change the pa 5.5 Site Addressing to @abc.com if we can also keep pa users' smtp addresses and their reply to addresses as @pa.abc.com, and not affect internet mail from/to them in any way. We do not *actually want to change pa users' smtp address, we just want to solve issue described in KB 288175. btw, The pa 5.5 server is in its own Site and runs its own IMS. Our ISP handles public DNS and the pa.abc.com internet email gets delivered directly to the pa server. Internal mail goes thru Site Connector within private frame relay network, btw. I think if the pa Site Addressing is changed, the pa.abc.com address will not replicate back into E2K3 Recipient Policy and I won't have to manually "fix" it each day. I also have about 4 other exchange 2003 test servers off site that I am hoping to replicate the information to.     - XT: Exchange Setup Help I'm working with Exchange Server 2003 on a Windows 2003 Server (both trial versions) and am trying to get Outlook to work with Exchange. Frankly, I really don't know what I'm doing. First question: does anyone recommend a good book for beginners with setting up exchange and outlook together? Next: I've setup Exchange 2003 (no SP1) and I have Outlook 2000 setup on another computer. The computers are on a interoffice network behind a router/firewall. RPC over HTTP has been setup and configured on the Windows 2003 server. Problem: When I setup my outlook account, I follow all of the directions to setup the email accounts properly through the services tab in the corporate environment setup in Outlook. I enter in the IP address for the Exchange server, in this case 192.168.0.21 and enter in the Mailbox (webmaster), click "Check Name", to which I receive an error message that says "The name could not be resolved. The name could not be matched to a name in the address list." I have setup an account with webmaster as the email name in the Active Directory User List. I know Outlook pretty well, but have never worked with it in the Exchange environment. When loading E2K3 it says I need to upgrade the ADC on
the E2K server but I have already done (2 times now) that

I can once the weekend is over I will post the logs
But basically the E2K3 install is asking for an upgraded ADC before loading,
this happens once I choose Typical.
