I am working off of knowledge base article #172350. I am
working with Outlook'97. In trying to follow the inbox
wizard for setting up a new profile. I am first asked to
give a microsft server name. I assume that I can assign
anything I want. Is that correct? I am next asked to list
the location the microsoft exchange postoffice. How do I
do that. I am working on a home computer that is hooked to
the internet via a cable modem. connection.

If you aren't using an Exchange server or an MS Mail post office, you should
have only an Internet mail account in your profile. I haven't worked with
OL97 for a long time (and note that it was very buggy at release, which is
why OL98 was a free upgrade for a long time, and also that it is very old
and is now unsupported ) but I think you need an internet mail patch for
it - see http://www.slipstick.com/addins/services/imep.htm

Best to post Outlook questions to microsoft.public.outlook - this group is
for Exchange server, and it doesn't sound like you're trying to use that.
