I am looking for some step by step instructions to replace the hardware on a
front end exchange server, that is located in a DMZ. I also have a web
certificate installed on the current server, that i assume can be easily
reinstalled on the replacement. I would prefer to keep the same ip and name
if possible
Thanks

Keeping the same name and IP, probably a disasterrecovery install. You
don't mention the version. From the FE terminology, I'd assume Exchange 2000
or 2003.

Exchange 2000: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297289/en-us
Exchange 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822945/

Thank you for the response.
It is a 2003 Exchange Site.

Would these then be the correct steps to perform this replacement?
1. Build new hardware with same windows server os as current front end
server.
2. Turn off old Front End Server
3. Reset the computer account in active directory
4. Give NEW (replacement) server, the same ip and computer name, join domain.
5. Install Exchange with the disasterrecovery switch.
6. Install any certificates for OWA

Thanks
