Hello!
I have this problem. I need to rename a Windows NT where i have installed
Exchange 5.5.. It's possible?? There is any document?
Exchange 5.5 will be ok after the change?

I don't have the definitive answer for you. I leave that to the experts
who *will* respond here.

However, I would *strongly* recommend you *not* do it until you have
definitive answers.... My impression from my reading is that you are
inviting disaster if you rename the server. I believe you will have to
use the "swing method twice to:

1) Set up a temp server, install exchange and and move mailboxes, etc.
2) Uninstall exchange from the old server and remove it from the
exchange organization
3) Rename the server (it might be best to remove it from the domain,
rename it and put it back in the domain)
4) Install Exchange and move the mailboxes, etc. back.

when we had to rename our server on echange 2000, we had to move it to a new
server also, we ended up having to do exactly that... well we didn't one of
our support companies did it

Databases are linked to the computer name so if you rename the server then
Exchange will not function. This is a general issue with many apps so
Exchange probably won't be the only thing you break. Why is the name change
so critical?
