I am planning to rebuild my domain network. We have 1 Exchange 2000 server
running on Server 2000 standard edition.
I must install new servers with Server 2003 on them. I want to install EXch
2003 on one of the new machines.
I do not and can not upgrade my old servers.

How should I go about removing the old Exchange 2000 server and bring in the
new 2003 exchange server without loosng any mail.

Thank you in advance.

Once you have installed Exchange 2003 into your domain, simply use the Move
Mailbox wizard in Exchange Tasks from Active Directory Users and Computers.
Then follow, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307917, once replication has
taken place I would wait a few days before completely removing the Exchange
2000 server to make sure everything is working properly. Dont forget to
update your Firewall/Router Port Forwards for SMTP, OWA, etc.

Once I have everything up and running, could I change the new server name to
what the old server name was or should I leave it's name alone.

WIll I have to point the Outlook client to the new exchange server?

Just leave it alone, the Outlook Client Profiles will be updated
automatically with the new server when you Move Mailboxes.

No need to create new store unless I am missing something here. When you
Move Mailboxes to the new server you will be moving them to the Default
First Storage Group on that server.

I don't think that you are mmissing anything. I am rebuilding my domain.
My old EXch server is named Mailman with the default store named LKmailbox.
My new Exc server will be called Postal. When I setup the new box and point
it to the old box, will the store inherit the old store name?

No, it will take the Default name of Mailbox Store (ServerName). No need to
rename it unless you are planning on having multiple stores.
