I have successfully setup Exchange 2003 on a Windows 2003 domain. This is not
an upgrade or migration. I have created mailboxes and everything seems to be
setup correctly on the Exchange server. HOWEVER, when I add the account to
Outlook 2003 client, Exchange is requiring a login to the Exchange server
and then won't authenticate the user. So, everything seems to be setup
correctly but I can't get users authenticated on Exchange. I thought Exchange
is supposed to authenticate through AD but this does not seem to be
happening. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks,

Hi,

This would happen if the users for some reason are not mail enabled. If you
check the users in active directory users and computers do they have email
addresses?

This might help:
