My Exchange organization has been functioning fine for a while but now i
have installed a second server and although it seemed to install fine, it
has a critical problem.

I wanted to move a mailbox to the new server and it gets this error up
clicking the second server under Administrative Groups:

"The action could not be completed because the Microsoft Exchange
Information service is unavailable. Be sure the service is running and you
have network connectivity to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer

Operation: Retrieving mount information.
ID no: c1041721
Exchange System Manager"

Ive checked the services and the settings in DNS and pinged the server by IP
and by name. The services are running and i even started a few more as a
last ditch. This should have been a simple install but i guess not.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Re: Problem with second Exchange Server (2003) by Eric

Clarification: Im using Exchange System Manager to access First
Administrative Group\Server2\First Storage Group\Mailbox Store where the
same store is on my first server. Is this not possible? Must I create a
second store on the second server? The second server after install displays
the First Store but cant connect to it. I created a MX record in DNS but see
no change at this time. I need this new server to take 60% of my mailboxes
from the first server for load distribution asap.

Thanks in advance
