    - Moving Exchange SMTP Interface We currently have our Exchange cluster using isa 2000 for a proxy to get to the outside world. We have OWA configured on a front-end server as well. At present we have our old proxy with a physical nic on the outside and we have ISAServer 2004 configured for our web users. Our ASA forwards all the OWA traffic to the front-end server. We'd like to get rid of our old proxy server since right now it only handles our smtp traffic. We have an available interface on the ASA so I can assign the outside address to the interface without an issue. My question is what would be the best way to make the switch over? We can either use the ASA or ISAServer 2004 but I'm not sure what might have to be done on the Exchange side to make sure it sees the new route.     - Owa 2007 internal and external access Hi, I have a new exchange 2007 installation. I need to have access via OWA both from internal and external. I have 1 CAS. Published on Isa 2006, used documentation from msexchange.org. Now I'm testing with an internal client but this only works when I disable the "require SSL" setting on the OWA website. But I had to enable this for the communication with the Isa server. What are the options? Do I have to install a second cas? Can I disable "require SSL" something else???     - Anonymous Logon Read permission In our Exchange 2003 Std, Anonymous Logon has inherited Read permission on all users's mailbox rights. Does this give everyone read access to other user's inbox?     - SMTP Settings - Workaround for ISP Blocked Port I am trying to setup my Exchange Server 2003 on my server at my home office. My ISP (BellSouth) doesn't allow outgoing mail through port 25 that isn't through their server. My Web host uses port 587 for outgoing as an alternative port, but I cannot proxy through that port to send emails either.     - Exchange 2007 on Windows 2008 uses all RAM until system needs a re I have a Windows 2008 Std Server installed with Exchange 2007 on it running Roll up 3. It has 4GB of RAM and 8GB page file. What happens is the memory usage just keeps going up over time (a day or two) then the transport service stops and the server needs a reboot to become functional again.     - Unable to Update Mailbox SD in the DS I'm getting two event warning on Exchnage 2007 application log Event ID:9554. I read this article from Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555433. I was able to resolved one of them as I was able to determine the mailbox, however one of the other GUID did not return any object.     - Exchange 2003 SMTP session and Connections question Hi, We have Exchange Enterprise 2003 (with latest patches) on windows 2003 enterprise server. Our e-mails scanned thru Mail Marshall SMTP server, then transfered to exchange server. On exchange server, SMTP session, I see a lot of connection from Mail Marshall (about 750 connection), some connections are showing connected time as 90353 seconds, which is about 36hours. I know connection timeout on exchange server is set to 10minutes. Is this this normal, shouldn't all these connection be terminated already acoording to 10minute time out? Occasionaly, exchange stops receiving from Mail Marshall server, with no error or indication. When I restart SMTP service on exchange, it starts receiving the e-mails Something is not right on exchange server Anyone have any idea?     - Exchange 2003 to 2007 Hi, I am having trouble on relay emails from exchange 2007 server, I use queue viewer in exchaneg 2007, it can see my mail and it comes out an error to me about "A local loop was detected".     - Server 2003 Move Our company is having connectivity issues with the placement of our current server. We are attempting to move the server to a different location alltogether. I understand that our people will loose connectivity for a while, but I am more worried about not loosing any of our emails, website, or any other critical information.     - Out of Office.... Hello, We are running Exchange 03 with Outlook 03. My users can setup their own Out of Office messages with no problem. The out of office messages only work when sending emails to internal users. If a customer sends one of my users and email, they wont receive the user's out of office message. What am I missing?     - Autodiscover not working correctly In my organization we have 2 exch2k3 boxes which one acts as the front end and the other backend. We just incorporated exch2k7 using the same schema but running on server 2008. Now my issue is myself and 2 other IT personel updated out mail clients from outlook 2003 to outlook 2007.     - Exchange/Sharepoint on Server 2008 64bit Hi, I'm running Win2008 Standard 64bit. I installed Exchange 2007 SP1 64bit and then installed Sharepoint 2007 on the same server. This broke Exchange's OWA. I followed suggestions of many; MS 823265 is for Sharepoint 2 and 2007 doesn't have Excluded paths. In any case, I uninstalled CAS and reinstalled it. Now neither exchange nor sharepoint are functioning. Anyways i need to recover 1 mailbox and 2 emails from another mailbox on a NT backup files I have keep last year. I have followed this document from MS but i have it someone long and also a bit more too much information for me to disgest at this point when I have to get the emails out to the users. Do i have to run a repair against the restore file (priv1.edb) before mounted the restore group? I've try running the "Eseutil.exe /p d:/program files/exchsrvr/recovery storage group/priv1.edb" to do the repair on the restored database but i kept getting an syntax error but I have try all different variations but NONE worked.     - ForestPrep and Domain Prep HI We have recently merged with another company and are in the process of integrating our Active Directories and Exchange Organizations. Both companies run windows server 2003 sp2 and Exchange server 2003 SP2 at the moment. We have created a child domain in the parent company into which we are going to migrate all the users from our company. We would like to instal a new Exchange 2007 server in the Child domain that has been created, for the mailboxes of our users. The question is where should ForestPrep and Domain Prep be run or do they not need to be run as there is already an exchange 2003 organization installed. Can they be ran just in the child domain or do they need to be run in the Root domain as well? Our parent compant are very reluctant to run anything in the root domain without weeks of testing and I am looking for assurance that running the ForestPrep and Domain Prep commands is unlikely to break anything.     - Odd Problem, user can't open outlook on machine but can through I am new to managing an exchange server, I know the basics but have one that has me scratching my head.... I have a user that apparently for a while, I just found out...hasn't been able to open Outlook on her PC. She has been using Remote Desktop to go into our TS to run it from there. The previous MIS guy just had her do that. When we try and run outlook on her desktop and on the new laptop that I just set up for her (thats how I found this) It says that Outlook won't run. I have tested the install of Office 2003 Pro and Outlook works fine for my account and also for one that I made that was copied from hers.     - Two Exchange Servers - One OWA inbound connection shared? I'm in the process of migrating to a new Exchange 2003 server (using the Ed Crowley method). I've brought up a new server in the site and the two are communicating (at least, all seems to be okay). I've used the mailbox move wizard to move some mailboxes, but found that the people who now reside on the new server can't hit OWA from outside anymore. If we connect to OWA internally, it works fine. If we try to connect to the old server, it just changes the URL to the new server's name. My problem is that while I'm migrating people, I need to make sure that they can access OWA from home. Is it possible (maybe I've missed something in my config?) for them to connect from home through the old server and have it serve up their OWA connection on the new server? I guess I'd assumed that OWA requests would be passed between the servers. In a worst-case situation, I will have to set up a new DNS entry through our ISP that points them through the firewall to the new server's IP addy, but it seemed to me that I shouldn't have to do that - there may be a way to have the old connection serve up their OWA while they're on the new server?     - Exchange Hosting My Company is doing the same thing. I found a really good tutorial on msexchange.org. Basicly though you have to use ADSI Edit, which is unsupported by M$, and if you use it incorrectly you can screw up your Active Directory. You have to limit permissions to the address lists you create with ADSI Edit. The Tutorial on msexchange.org for Hosted Exchange gives really good intructions on how to do this.     - How to add NTLM authentication to Outlook Anywhere Exchange 2007 server Outlook Anywhere has been working well with Basic authentication. However, some of our mobile user notebooks are configured with proper login domain and userID. IF we can add NTLM authentication, they won't have to provide login autentication again when bring up Outlook (2007) client to access Outlook anywhere remotely, I think.     - Local recipients enqueued as unreachable destinations Hi all I've a nlb cluster of exchange 2003 frontends and two backends in cluster server. When the internal clients connect to the backends directly, everythings works good. I've enabled secure imap and secure smtp on the frontends to allow external users use the mail. Imaps works flawless but not smtp. When sending to external users, the message is sent correctly. If a message with a local recipient is sent, it is enqueued as a unreachable destination !?!?!?!     - Hub Transport Hi, We're in the process of setting up a new Exch. 2007 server for our College. At first I was considering of using the Edge Transport server because I thought it was required. We are signing up with Message Labs to filter our mail for spam and anti-virus ( incoming and outgoing ). We have also secured the connection only allowing communication to and from Message Labs to our e-mail server. It seems to me that having both the Message Labs filter and the Edge Transport a bit redundant and more cumbersome to manage.     - get-exchangeserver comandlet shows missing exchange servers I am trying to upgrade from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2007 Service Pack 1. It won't install, because it says there are Exchange 2003 servers that are not running Service Pack 2. I use the get-exchangeserver command in the powershell, and it shows the two test servers that we had when initally upgrading from exchange 5.5. Problem is that not only do these servers not have exchange on them, they don't even exist anymore. They were reformatted with XP pro and given to users once we didn't need them in our exchange environment anymore. HOW do I get these servers unlisted so I can move on? The Exchange Enterprise Servers (EES), which is domain local was added with the special access for Exchange Information not form the company domain but from the server.company subdomain. So all users were missing rights for the company EES (i.e.: read and write alias). After going to advanced and changing the Group fom servers.company\EES to company\EES i got the read alias right, but there are compared to the other subdomains and the root domain many rights missing. In the ExchangeSetup.Log it is shown this wrong EES was selected so that I presume that there is an error in the Powershell script for the pl option (tested sp1 and rtm version). Anyone who experienced the same?     - Multiple Exchange Organization - Sending Server Hello I have a question about an organization with multiple Exchange servers. From what I understand, only ONE Exchange server actually sends the e-mails out to the Internet. The other Exchange servers simply route the e-mails to this server.     - Warning message when uninstalling old Exchange03 Server Hi All, I have an old Exchange03 server that is being decommissioned. We will then be left with our current clustered 03 servers. All of the uninstall pre-requisites are fine and I have moved on to the next stage of uninstall. When it gets to the removal stage of "Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services" I get the following warning: "All the webs store platform based applications will be inoperable after the uninstall. Select OK to continue or CANCEL to exit setup at this time". I cant find anything on the web with this specific error / warning message. Any ideas? I really need to get cracking with this uninstallation but dont want to hastily press OK! I am pretty sure all functions are now running on the clustered server so it shouldnt be this?     - Exchange 2007 mail configuration Hi, Installed exchange 2007 with mailbox, hub transport , unified messaging and client access roles on one machine itself. There is no edge transport server. I have enabled IMAP and POP3 and created ADS users and Exchange users. I wish to send mails directly from this hub transport server.I am using the default SMTP address policy. Tried to configure an account using Outlook express but unable to access it stops at the user name and password prompt and i have checked that the password is corrrect. what else i am missing that needs to be configured.     - Outlook Web Access to entire Organization I have an organization with 5 locations. Each location has an Exchange 2003 Server. All e-mail flows into the Exchange server at the main location, which then routes the e-mail to the appropriate server. My question is: I'd like to implement OWA, but never have in multiple Exchange Server organizations. My question is: I'd like to create an A record for mail.company.com and have give EVERY user in the organization the ability to use OWA. I was planning on using the server in the main location.     - Problem when install Exchange 2007 with SP1 on Windows 2003 R2. I have a problem when install Exchange 2007 with SP1 (32bit) on a Windows 2003 R2. The Readiness Checks find an error on the Mailbox Role Prerequisites. This computer requires the update described in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 928368 (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=92853). Without this update, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service may stop responding. However when I install this update, it says:"Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of this system is newer than the update you are applying. There is no need to install this update." Does anyone coming across this problem?(I can't uninstall Windows 2003 SP2 because it comes with the Windows installation.) Thank you very much!     - SMTP Configuration I have 2 Exchange servers and a Spam Application. The main Exchange is configured to use port 2500 instead of 25 since the Spam App is intercepting the mail and then passing the good mail through port 25. My second server is the problem. If I configure the Default Virtual SMTP server to deliver using port 2500 internal mail is delivered from the second server to the main server but internet mail gets stuck in the queue. If I change the delivery port to 25 the mail delivers but mailboxes on the main server do not get mail. Is there a way to setup a filter/rule and have 2 virtual servers? We recently switched to Outlook 2007, and when connecting to our Exchange
2007 server when a user enters their info i.e. server: mail.somedomain.com
and user: "UserName" and hits "Check Name" the server then resloves to the
"somdomain.com.local". The problem being is now we get a certificate error
because the certificate is for mail.somedomain.com. There there any way to
fix this?
