    - Move Mailbox in E2K3 We have been testing to move mailboxes in our mixed mode environment from E5.5 to E2K using the MMW for E2K3. We keep getting an error at the end of move mailbox stating the following: "Unable to move mailbox 'johndoe'. Error: The specified directory service attribute or value does not exist.     - Exchange 2003 Queue VIewer I have just finished installing Exchange 2003 on my Windows 2000 server. Everything seems to work except for the Exchange Queue Viewer. When I install my connectors snap in I get "Snap In failed to initialize" A108966C-944F-11D2-9941-00C04F79F1C9. aFTER LOOKING AT THE REGISTRY FOR eXCHANGE 2000 I discovered that this is the queue viewer snap in entry for the viewer and it references ExAdmin.dll. After checking the install logs for 2000 and 2003 I discovered that the 2003 install deletes these snap in keys from nodetype an SnapIn. I also discovered the GUID 001512cc-195e-403c-bc73- 98e72f5358f0 wich refers the the queue viewer with a different class name Exadmin.QView1. I changed my ocx to install with this GUID and got several errors this time when it tried to register and run. My question is what do I have to do to get this to work. The snap in displays properly for the connector but I cannot see the MTS-IN and MTS-OUT queues. I have also set the heuristics value to 0x01000000. Did we install the server incorrectly. This is the protion of the setup log that deletes the queue viewer keys.     - Mailboxes do not appear in System Manager. We have a mixed-mode environment. 2000/5.5 when creating user accounts in AD along with mailboxes. the mailboxes do not show up in system manager. I do see them in the GAL- however I cannot open these mailboxes (as admin or user). I get an information store cannot be opened error. What I've notice is that the mailboxes do appear on my exchange 5.5 server recipient folder. I am creating these boxes in AD on the 2k exchange server in the appropriate storage group.     - Service Account I'm a brand new ES 5.5 user, trying to carry out an installation with the aid of the Quick Setup Guide and On- line Books. Quick Set-up instructs me to create a user a/c named "Exchange Service", but doesn't tell me why. Later, in the Windows NT Service A/c section it states that this is a user a/c that ES uses to log on Winnt Server as a service. It goes on "By default, the user account that is logged on during MS ES Setup is used as the Service Account" The Specifying the Site Service Account section then tells me to select the Windows NT user a/c I want to use as the service a/c. Should I have entered Exchange Service at this point - the document doesn't suggest this, so I didn't. I was logged on as Administrator during install, so that's what is set up as the Service Account right now. What's the disadvantage in leaving this as is? If it's just that we may change the p/w, this is v. unlikely. However, if there are other reasons why I should nominate another a/c (Exchange Service?) as the Service a/c, can I do this by changing the "logon as" entries in the service start-ups to this, and what other rights would I need to assign to that a/c for this to work?     - Denied by IceWarp We are running Exch 5.5 SP4 and our mails had been denied by a consultant who is using the ICeWarp Server. The return message says error 550 Relaying Denied but our server is closed for relaying. Someone has resolved this by not specifying additional DNS servers for delivery, we tried to do the same but mails still won't go through. Has anyone any clue? Thanks in advance.     - ADC Service not started In trying to track down problems I'm having installing Exchange 2003, it came to my attention that I can't replicate the existing ADC between my Exchange 5.5 (WinNT 4) server and the Windows 2000 DC. I'm getting the error that ADC Service is not started and that the replication won't occur until it is started. The problem is, I don't have an ADC or "Active Directory Connector" in my Services manager to start. I ran setup from the Windows 2000 Server cd to try a reinstall/repair, and that completed okay but still no service to start. Should I try installing the ADC from the Windows 2003 cd on the Windows 2000 Domain Controller? Or is there something more sinister at work here?     - "579 message content is not acceptable here" Not sure if this is an exchange problem as such, but my e-mails are suddenly being bounced with this message. I'm hoping that the company is using an exchange server, and that therefore someone here will know what the message means... I had been e-mailing them successfully, then I replied to one of their e-mails asking me a question and my mail was bounced with this message - "SMTP error from remote mailer after end of data:host mail.ketofoods.com [64.7.205.100]: 579 message content is not acceptable here" I have tried the other e-mail I have for them, tried using one of my different e-mails (in case they have spam software which is blocking my address), and tried cutting the text down to the bear minimum (in case there was some forbidden word that was being blocked), but none of the e-mails are getting through...     - Exchange 5.5 Enterprise to Exchange Server 2003 Enterprise I'm installing the Exchange Server 2003 Enterprise 120 day trial edition to a new Win2003 server. I'm running the Exchange Server Deployment tools, and am at the step where I run the ADC Tools in the Active Directory Connector Services. In step four of the ADC Tools, running the Connection Agreement Wizard, I'm at the point where I'm supposed to set the credentials (enter the administrator account name and password) for the Exchange 5.5 site. When I do this and click on Okay, I get a number of different responses, the latest of which is "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted." I can't remember the other message I was getting prior to that, but it was something about the container not being found. Any ideas? Each time we try we get the following errors.     - Exchange 5.5 on W2K setting up processor affinity I have an exchange 5.5 box running on W2K with 4 processors. I have noticed that during the day when the server slows down only one of the processors is being hit hard. Is there a way to set up affinity for all exchange services to use the additional avalible processors.     - Upgrade Dilemma Hello everyone. I am hoping someone with experience can help me out. I have 4 Win NT 4.0 servers. No Windows 2000. 3 of my servers are for file, 1 is for Exchange 5.5 I have a new box with Windows 2000 that I want to use as my exchange 2000 box. I have read about 20 different documents, all with their individual caveats. My goals are as follows: 1. Move to Exchange 2000 during the upgrade/migration process 2. Move all my users to Windows 2000 AD, w/o losing permssions to their files on the NT 4.0 servers (the NT 4.0 servers will be upgraded later). It appears I cannot upgrade my Exchange 5.5 server directly to Exchange 2000 and Windows 2000 (at the same time). I was wondering if I might upgrade the 5.5 server to WINDOWS 2000, thus adding all my users to AD. However, document 275127 says I cannot install Exchange 5.5 on my 2000 GC. Since I have no other 2000 servers, my exchange box would be the GC. So I am at somewhat of a losss here as to where to start. If I setup my new hardware with Win2k AD and Exchange 2000, I will have to migrate my user accounts and exchange accounts to the new active directory. But I keep finding documents saying that my users will be disabled. Also, will my permissions to existing file servers stay intact? I appreciate any adivce.     - exchange setup I would like help on setting up exchange to delete messages as they are received rather than transfering them to the inbox. This is due to the sobig virus it's pounding my antivirus software - I've had over 2,000 alerts today alone. My program is stripping the virus' at the gateway, but I'm trying to find a way to make it delete the whole message because we're being swamped with the bogus emails and it's a hassle to get so much trash in the inbox. I am running Norton AntiVirus for Microsoft Exchange which catches and strips the virus before it is passed on to the user, and then I use Symantec Antivirus Corporate Console to manage each workstation which also has Norton Corporate Edition as a second line of defense.     - DNS Problems cannot recieve from external email sources OK I have an SBS 2000 system with isa server and exchange 2000 it has 2 network cards. one to the local LAN and one to a broadband link. The broadband link is attached to a NAT router. Network card 1 - LAN 10.0.0.4 subnet 255.x.x.x no gateway with a preffered dns 10.0.0.4 network card 2 - WWW 192.168.0.6 with a default gateway of 192.168.0.1 and dns of 161.58.88.37 (ukdnsservers.co.uk) I can use the exchange internally to send and recieve as you would expect. Externally i can send mail out via a smart host. I have a virtual server pointing to the internet network card 192.168.0.6 and i can connect to this virtual server via telnet from a remote machine and send a message into the exchange. This is where my first problem lies. my message is going into the "messages awaiting directory lookup" i can enumerate the test message but it never resolves to a host. Am i right in assuming my DNS records on my server aren't working if so how do i fix it? I assume i need to set up a host A record and an MX record but where do i point the address to? netdiag tells me re: DNS Test pass - all the dns entries for Dc are registered on dns server 10.0.0.4 warning the dns entries for this DC are not registered correctly on dns warning the dns entries for this DC are not registered correctly on dns Problem 2 lies with my domain. I have 4 domains but at present i only want one to work so that i can convert the others at a later date. I have logged into my domain provider and set up an mx record pointing to my static ip 82.38.x.x When i use checkdns.net and point it to my domain it tells me the mx record is actually pointing to 82.38.x.x.domain.net. Do i set this to my FQDN sbserver.domain.local? I have tried both and both dont work. Other settings on the domain reference a separate web server for www. and http://domain.net, email forwarding is configured as well but doesnt work as it uses the MX record first i assume.     - working with Blackberry Enterprise Server We have exchange 5.5 on a 2000 server. Its sole purpose is so that we can route mail thru it to our Blackberry Enterprise Server 3.6 for the corporations Blackberry users. We use the Internet Mail Service Connector. The blackberry and exchange servers are on the same host and the domain we used is a sub-domain of the sorporations regular mail domain. the issue we are having is the mail forwarded from the regular mail server (netscpae on a Solaris box) comes into the exchange server and goes to the Blackberry Server and to the Blackberryhand helds just fine. However when mails sent back FROM the blackberry it isn't getting back to the users. Blackberry Server records them as being sent. but not sure why they are not going out to he corporation mail server. Is there a set up in the IMS routing or somewhere else in the Exchange Server than i need to set to make this happen. Just emailing from the exchange server to the corporate mail server works fine?     - 3 different domains - Exchange 5.5 upgrade Hi, In my company, we got 3 different domains, one domain at each site. 1st site = DOMAIN1 - W2k DC and Exchange 5.5 running on NT4 server 2nd site = DOMAIN2 - Exchange 5.5 running on NT4 Server (PDC) 3rd site = DOMAIN3 - Exchange 5.5 running on NT4 Server (PDC) Each site is independent of each other. I'm about to upgrade Exchange 5.5 from DOMAIN1. What I want to know is would it have any affects on my DOMAIN2 and DOMAIN3? Exchange 5.5 in each domain has nothing to do with each other however, when I looked in the Active Directory Domain and Trusts under a DC in DOMAIN1, it says that DOMAIN2 and DOMAIN3 is a child domain of DOMAIN1 and they trusted each other. Would this have any impact on my Exchange upgrade in DOMAIN1. As far as I'm concerned, email, data, user accounts, internet access etc... on DOMAIN2 and DOMAIN3 is independent of other domains. Also, in my DOMAIN1, If I do an upgrade of the NT4 Server to W2K server, do I have to setup Active Directory on this upgraded server? Would this have any impact on my existing Back Office Server 4.5 running on NT4 Server before?     - Security with OWA Exch 2003 Ok.. Maybe I missed something in the install. Got Win2003 running. Good. Got Exch2003 RC1 running. Good. Testing and everyone is happy. Launched \\exchangeserver\exchange and I get the Login page no problem via HTTP for OWA. Good. 1) Why is only my Domain Admin account working when I try to login with various "User" accounts. Did I forget to change permissions somewhere?? 2) Do I really need a certificate to get HTTPS going? Work around was I have the firewall point specific "OWA" based DNS name to the Exchange Server w/redirect to the Exchange Virtual Directory. Any help is appreciated. MAN I love the new interface. Please read the scenario: Server: W2K3 Enterprise E2K3: Downloaded from MSDN 08/19/03 Logged On As: Administrator Installed as follows: Using the Deployment Tools Wizard | Deploy the First Exchange 2003 Server | New Exchange 2003 Installation | 8 Step process (DCDiag Successfull, NetDiag Successfull, Forest Prep Successfull, Domain Prep Successfull, Setup Now Successfull) Note: The aforementioned steps are marked successfull based upon the wizard completing the task. Upon completing the 8 steps, Exchange appears to be installed although I'm not so sure this was successfull. When I go to ... Start | All Programs | Microsoft Exchange | Active Directory Users & Computers ... and choose ... View | Advanced Features ... I can see the Microsoft Exchange System Objects. (If this helps in the diagnostics) When I check the default Administrator user's properties, there are no additional tabs representing exchange. When I create a dedicated OU and add a new user, no additional exchange tabs appear for this user either. Did I actually install Exchange? I personally do not believe it is installed.     - Please help! Unable to use Exchange server Hi all! I'm finishing an Exchange 2000 installation and when I create new users in the Admin console, the E-mail tabs are not appearing. Also, when I go to the Exchange manager I don't see my server, 'WVASERVER' listed as a server. On our other server (the one being replaced) WVASERVER is listed and the e-mail tabs appeared.     - No Static IP available, how to receive email We have an SBS2000 server using Comcast for our ISP, they do not have static IP's available in our area for small businesses. We don't have a web site, but we did register a domain name which we would like to setup our users on for email. tom@ourdomain.com, I am told that Exchange needs to have a static IP in which to set up the MX Record.     - FSMO Role transfer I ran the AD diagnostic program, and found that the schema, and that the schema and domain owner point to DNS1, a server that crashed. So I transfered the roles (I thought) to another server. In domains and trusts under roles, "error" shows up in the current holder field, and I cannot transfer the role. I tried to transfer the role with ADSIEdit, but when I edit the configuration I get the message "A refferral was returned from the server". This was on the 2003 DNS server. On the exchange 2000/Windows 2000 Box I get the message "The role owner attribute could not be read" when I use the right click properties and select FSMORole owner.     - ADCTools reporting phantom mailbox After running ADCTools everything looks good - I have manually fixed all mailboxes so they each only have one AD account. We are running AD on all Windows2003 servers in mixed mode. We are connecting a 10 site Exchange 5.5 environment. When I verify the mailbox resource wizard it reports one error (o and ou have been changed) Error: Security identifier (SID) for the associated Windows NT account (Assoc-NT-Account) for the mailbox 'cn=PatrickVanaart,cn=Recipients,ou=Site,o=ORG' could not be resolved. I have looked all over for this mailbox - tried connecting to the exchange server I used for the ADCTools, and connecting with the server specified in the "ou" part of the error - checked for hidden recipients, etc.. I cannot find this account anywhere. I spoke with someone who has been with the company a long time and they said this person left a long time ago and is no longer an employee... do you know how I can view where the ADCTools are reading this from and eliminate it?     - Need a little help with 5.5 after a recovery Hi everyone, I spent most of Saturday getting Exchange back on its feet after a bad crash. I've got everything restored and it seems to be working except.....none of the Recipients are visible, the Mailbox Resources came back up fine but not the Recipients. What did I miss? My company has Exchange 2000 and we want to make an update to Exchange 2003.
I need to do it in stages and work in 2000 and 2003 together.
At the moment I have frontend server with OWA and backend with user mailbox.
In a test network it migrates frontend to 2003 and I cannot login to to
mailbox in 2000.
The error is -2147467259 (0x80004005)
Some additional configuration is necessary?
