        • Outlook Web Access Help I have just setup and installed Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. The installation completed fine and there are no problems with AD. I have setup several users mailboxes, however, I am having problems accessing them using Outlook Web Access. I have checked each user's properties in AD Users and Computers and can confirm that Web access is ENABLED. My Exchange Server is called UC-EXCH. When I go to a web browser and type in: http://UC-EXCH/exchange/username, I am prompted to enter the user's credentials (Username and AD password). After entering the details 3 times, a message appears in my browser stating "Error: Access is Denied." Any idea why this is happening? I thought OWA was enabled by default and that I didn't need to conduct any additional configurations in Exchange. I have also been unable to find any good knowledge base articles on detailed steps on how to configure Exchange 2003 for OWA. Can anyone help? Any suggestions, comments or advice welcome. Thanks! • Lost Exchange 5.5 how to delete / Exchange Server 2003 Setup Long time ago we migrated our Exchange 5.5 Server to a new server running exchange 2000. Then we remove the 5.5 exchange server not using the tutorial how to remove the last exchange 5.5 server in the domain. The Exchange 2000 is running very good and has no problems. No we wanted to migrate the exchange 2000 server to an exchange 2003 server and always get the request to type in the exchange 5.5 server. We tried everything to remove the server we no longer need and totally wanted to be removed. Any suggestions? • SMTP Out Not sure Hi, I have setup the SMTP to use DNS to resolve recipients names. In the forwarders I used a well known ISPs DNS server IP address and I was getting mail out. Now I get home from setting this up and I am not getting any emails from the exch server like I was before. Should I have not used a well known ISPs DNS server in the forwarder even if they are not our ISP? Thanks, Pete Tag: Moving Mailboxes and Public Folders between domains Tag: 114735

        • disclaimer/signature Hello, I know it is possible to add a disclaimer to every mail which is send via the IMC-connector, but is it also possible to add an automatic (not the manual option to add a signature...) user-signature which is user-dependent? • E5.5 to E2K3 upgrade So finally I understood that I can't directly upgrade from E5.5 to E2K3. I have one PDC (nt4), two BDCs and one member server with E5.5. Now I want to add W2K3 with E2K3 new box to the LAN to takeover the E5.5. 1. Should I upgrade the PDC first or add the W2K3 member server to the LAN? 2. Can you confirm that I could installed the E2K3 on the same site as E5.5? Which is the best or right step to start? Thank you in advance. TSK. • OWA 2003 installation best practices Hi! I'm upgrading an Windows 2000 Server / Exchange Server 2000 OWA to a new machine with Windows Server 2003 / Exchange Server 2003 OWA. In the old machine, I had a non default web site in which both the in-house developed asp-intranet and the OWA was installed. As I installed OWA and it ended up in the default web site, I noticed that it gets its own Application Pool in IIS6. What is the best practices here, should I leave OWA in its own application pool and have my intranet in another, or can I add my intranet safely to the OWA web site/application pool? • DNS servers not all created Equel ? Hi, I was wondering when I was setting up my SMTP outbound for DNS. I noticed that when I used my ISPs DNS server for lookup to resolve recipients that it couldn't resolve all of my emails going out. I would test out their domain names using NSLookup. But when I changed to a well known DNS server in my forwarders in DNS, I had no problem resolving all domains. Any Ideas on why this might be? • Outgoing SMTP Mail Hi, I am currently in the process of a migration from 5.5 to 2003 in our Chicago office. After adding the 2003 server to a existing 5.5 site we began moving various mailboxes. Everything is working well so far except I noticed our SMTP mail from 5.5 users is not going out the SMTP connector on the local 2003 server? We traced it going to another site in Singapore via the MTA site connector and then using the 5.5 IMS on their bridgehead server. All inbound SMTP does come into the 2003 server and then via X.400 transfers to the users on the 5.5 box. It is just outbound SMTP that routes half-way around the world before finding an IMS to send it. I have re-calculated the routing in 5.5 and can see the 2003 SMTP connector in the 5.5 admin console but no luck? Once I move a 5.5 user to the 2003 server it starts to use the local SMTP server properly. Ultimately we could just move the rest of the 5.5 users but we will not be able to fully complete the migration for another month. All the CA's and SRS are running properly. Thanks for your help. • NT/5.5 to Win2k/Exch2003 I currently have Exchange 5.5 on a WinNT machine. I have a new server with Win2K that I want to install Exchange 2003 on. What is the best way to do this, how do I move the stuff from 5.5 (mailboxes, etc.) to the new machine? I have very little Exchange experience. Thanks for any help. • SMTP - NSLookup Timing Out on Some Hi All, I have configured our SMTP Virt server to use DNS lookup to resolve recipient names. I add the forwarders under DNS. Now most emails are making it out but some are not. They are timing out when I try to use NSLookup on them. What should I look for to fix this? And can I add more DNS servers to better help find the recipients? Any Ideas? Thanks, Pete Tag: Moving Mailboxes and Public Folders between domains Tag: 114714

        • Multiple name space OWA + Form based authentication I have set up my Exchange 2003 server and got OWA working for multiple name space (xxx.com, yyy.com). users with xxx.com addresses would go to https://company/exchange; yyy.com would go to https://company/yyy. Then I turned on form based authentication. xxx.com users OWA works flawlessly. However, after yyy.com users logged off (or session timed out), they cannot use the logon page to logon again as it defaults back to https://company/exchweb/bin/auth/owalogon.asp?reason=1. xxx.com users can logon from that page, but yyy.com users cannot. Does anyone know a solution to this problem? Thanks Tag: Moving Mailboxes and Public Folders between domains Tag: 114712

        • "The srs contains no home-mdb (homeMdb" I just installed Exchange 2003 on a (new) Windows 2003 server. Ultimately I wish to move users from Exchange 5.5 on an NT server (and decommission that box). After the Exchange installation, the e2kdsinteg.log file shows the following errors: "The srs contains no home-mdb (homeMdb" "The srs contains no home-mta (homeMta)" "The public mdb contains no home-mta (homeMta)" "The system attendant contains no home-mdb (homeMdb)" "The system attendant contains no home-mta (homeMta)" I am able to create a new mailbox, but am not able to move anyone over from the old server. When I attempt to move someone, the fields for the new server and location of the new mailbox store are grayed out and not available. I can't find any useful info on the errors above. Can anyone shed some light? Tag: Moving Mailboxes and Public Folders between domains Tag: 114709

        • LDAP & Schedule + We currently run Exchange 5.5 in a Windows NT domain. We have users who do not have Windows NT accounts and who do not have Exchange 5.5 mailboxes. These users are, however, able to use LDAP on port 389 to access the global address list and other address book views that have been created. We plan to migrate from Exchange 5.5 and Window NT to Windows 2003 Active Directory and Exchange 2003. Q: Will we still be able to provide LDAP access to these same address book views to users who are not part of the Active Directory or Exchange 2003, similar to how we did with Exchange 5.5 in the Windows NT domain? We also have users who use Exchange 5.5 and use Schedule+ for shared calendars. Q: Will these users still be able to use their Schedule+ calendars against their Exchange 2003 mailboxes once they have been migrated? The problem we have is that we don't save mail on the server. All mail is saved locally to a pst on the local desktop, and we could not find a good method in Exchange 5.5 for using shared Outlook calendars that didn't entail keeping our user's mail on the server. • Active Directory Connector I am bit confused. We are migrating from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 and we used the Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT) to bring over the users, groups and SID histories. We believe the next step is to use the ADC tools. Q: What exactly do the ADC Tools do? Do they add Exchange 5.5 mailbox attributes to the Active Directory Users and groups that were copied to Active Directory? I am confused the Microsoft Exchange 2003 deployment (Chapter 4, pg 55) makes the following statement "must use the ADMT or the user domain upgrade method to add Exchange 5.5 mailbox attributes to the Active Directory Users and groups that you copied to Active Directory". I thought this was the function of the ADC tools? Q: Once I set up the connection agreements, will I be able to add an NT user account and mailbox in Exchange 5.5 and have that account and mailbox replicate to the Windows 2003-Exchange 2003 Active Directory? I don't understand what exactly is replicated once these agreements are set- up? Thanks Tag: Moving Mailboxes and Public Folders between domains Tag: 114705

        • Sender filtering questioning 1.) Is there anyway to seperate the "Message with Blank Sender" and the senders manually defined into different folders, When the "Archives Filtered Messages" is enabled? Its kind of tough the search through 1000's of emails to find out if 1 person in the list has send email. 2.) Also in the bad mail directory why is 3 files created for 1 bad email, this is a space hog, Also is there anyway to stop the collection of bad emails? thanks, Chris Tag: Moving Mailboxes and Public Folders between domains Tag: 114704

        • Exchange 2003 cluster install I am creating an active/passive 2 node clustered server. I did the forestprep and domainprep. When I install the enterprise version of exch2003 installation, it does not ask me whether I want to install the cluster aware version what it supposed to ask. Also, it did not ask me whether I want to join the alrady existing exchange 2000 organization what I know it should prompt me for. when I finish with the installation and wait for replication, the server does not show up in the already existing organization and as a matter of fact it nowhere shows up. • ADC Connection Agreement Wizard I have a mixed Windows 2000 and NT 4.0 network that I inherited. We have Exchange 5.5 running on an NT 4 BDC, and there is also an Exchange 2000 server at a separate site in the domain. We are preparing to install a new Exchange 2003 server at the main site and migrate all the users from the Exchange 5.5 server then decommission the old server. It doesn't appear that the Exchange 2000 server was joined to the Exchange 5.5 organization when it was installed because they are different business units. However, when I try to join the Exchange 2003 server to the Exchange 5.5 organization I get the following error from the ADC Connection Agreement Wizard: Error: The organization o=T2 Supply is already installed into this forest but the configured 5.5 server is a member of organization o=SKC Communication Products, Inc.. Please choose a 5.5 server in the correct Org. T2 Supply is the organization on the Exchange 2000 server, and SKC Communications Products, Inc. is the Exchange 5.5 organization. I have already changed the Exchange 5.5 organization to remove the "," from the name but it hasn't been reflected. Do I need to restart exchange or the NT 4 server to make this take? How can I resolve this issue to join the new server to the old organization? Is it possible to resolve this at this time? • Exchange Server as POP3 I've set up Exchange 2003 Enterprise on a test server running Win 2003 Enterprise Server. It is not a DC, but is a member of a domain. I can send and receive internal (user@domain.local) emails, can send external emails (user@internetdomain.com), but cannot receive external emails. We've added the appropriate mx record for a fqdn test site pointing to the exchange server which can be reached throught a router/firewall by a static IP/NAT forward. The DC is also provides DNS configured with appropriate DNS forwarding. My questions are 1. Do you have to install the out-of-the-box POP3 service in Windows Server 2003 even though Exchange is installed 2. Do any white papers exist on this particular aspect of configuration Thanks. • SMTP Out Setup HI, Ok I am trying to figure out for SMTP outbound email I am going to do the following for a DNS config instead of using a smart Host. 1. Under the SMTP connector I will chose Use DNS resolution for emial. 2. I will go to the SMTP virtual server under protocol. Click on the delivery tab then Advanced Delivery/Configure and Add a Public DNS Server that can resolve DNS names. It can be any one on the net really, correct? It could be my new ISPs DNS server or my old one it doesn't really matter, correct? Is this all I have to do in order to get email out by DNS to work? • SMTP Problem Hi, I have a problem with getting our email sent out of our company. Let me elaborate a bit so you see where I'm coming from. We have exch 2003 server that picks up our email through an ISP named nauticom from their exch server. Our company domain name is registered through them. We had this account setup with them for a while and we in the past used a dialup connection to connect. I would also use their SMTP server to send out our email. And the world was a happy place. Now we have satellite for our broadband hookup. Which of course uses a different ISP to first go through. We stil get our email through nauticom but can't send our email out to their SMTP server without getting it rejected. Nauticom tells me to go somewhere else for that. :( So I find one to go through but not our new ISP because they don't allow this either. I point it at a SMTP server that I happen to know of and this worked for a while but now that one isn't being allowed to be used. I know I looked at the SMTP doc over at exchange.org on how to setup SMTP for just connecting to the internet and sending email but it's telling me that I need to register our domain name with an A record which it is already registered with Nauticom. Guys I need help how do I setup SMTP without needing a SMTP server for outbound ONLY mail? Thanks, Pete Tag: Moving Mailboxes and Public Folders between domains Tag: 114646

        • Exchange server 2003 deployment Hi. I need some help. Before I had an Exchange server 5.5 on a Active Directory (mixte mode). I have installed Exchange 2000 in order to test it. So everything was OK except the AD connector because (I don't knwo why) it was impossible to communicate with the Exchange 5.5 server. Now I want to install two (because of redundancy) Exchange 2003 server(on a non DC controller), delete all the others in my Organization in order to have a "clean" domain. • Connection agreements after E2003 install. I'm in the process of running through the Deployment tools to migrate exchange 5.5 to exchange 2003 I'm at the point of installing Exchange2003 and I've read on through the steps. One of the steps says 'after setup change your connection agreements to connect to the new server running exchange 2003.' At the moment I have installed the ADC on a DC (New Exchange server is a member server) the connection agreements connect from the DC to the Exchange 5.5 server. I thought the exchange 2003 finds its info from active directory so what does it mean by changing the connection agreements. Do I then have to change the connection agreements so they go from the exchange 5.5 server to excahnge 2003??? Surely it needs to be going to the DC??? • receiving NDR from specific domains Hi, I'm receiving an NDR when sending emails to some recipients. Example, from outlook, connecting to our Exchange 5.5 server, if I send a message to the following address "sample@philips.com", I get an error message from the System Administrator: Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: test Sent: 04/10/2004 14:39 The following recipient(s) could not be reached: sample@philips.com on 04/10/2004 14:40 The recipient name is not recognized But sending a mail to the same mailbox from yahoo mail or hotmail does not have this kind of problem. I have the same issues with other domains. Any idea what do i need to check? Is it possible that our own domain is "blocked" on their server? Thanks in advance for your help. • Exchange 2003 Base Dav Error when installing Hi I'm trying to install a fresh copy of Exchange 2003 into our existing organisation of Exchange 2000. The installation of Exchange 2003 fails about three quaters of the way through with the message of "setup failed while installing sub-component base DAV protocol with error code 0x80010105....". Forestprep and Domainprep work fine, and all looks good when I run dcdiag and netdiag The server is running a fresh copy of Windows 2003 Server Standard Edn, and is running as a DC + Global Catalog. I have installed IIS 6 as per the Exchange 2003 deployment guide. I have also tried the MDAC fix (re-install 2.8) Here is an excerpt from the setup log where it fails [17:13:00] Entering ScFixWebSvcRestrictionLis [17:13:00] Entering ScFixWebSvcRestrictionListByDisplayNam [17:13:00] Removing Exchange Extensions from WebSvcExtRestrictionLis [17:13:00] Entering ScWMIExecMetho [17:13:00] Failed to call ExecMetho [17:13:00] ScWMIExecMethod (f:\titanium\admin\src\libs\exsetup\exmisc.cxx:3611 Error code 0X80041013 (4115): An error occurred during a call to Windows Management Instrumentatio [17:13:00] Leaving ScWMIExecMetho [17:13:00] Failed to remove Exchange Extensions from WebSvcExtRestrictionLis [17:13:00] ScFixWebSvcRestrictionListByDisplayName (f:\titanium\admin\src\libs\exsetup\exmisc.cxx:3920 Error code 0X80041013 (4115): An error occurred during a call to Windows Management Instrumentatio [17:13:00] Leaving ScFixWebSvcRestrictionListByDisplayNam [17:13:00] ScFixWebSvcRestrictionList (f:\titanium\admin\src\libs\exsetup\exmisc.cxx:3656 Error code 0X80041013 (4115): An error occurred during a call to Windows Management Instrumentatio [17:13:00] Leaving ScFixWebSvcRestrictionLis [17:13:00] CAtomBaseDAV::ScAddMetabaseKeys (f:\titanium\admin\src\udog\exsetdata\components\server\a_basedav.cxx:124 Error code 0X80041013 (4115): An error occurred during a call to Windows Management Instrumentatio [17:13:00] Leaving CAtomBaseDAV::ScAddMetabaseKey [17:13:00] CAtomDAV::ScAddMetabaseKeys (f:\titanium\admin\src\udog\exsetdata\components\server\a_dav.cxx:753 Error code 0X80041013 (4115): An error occurred during a call to Windows Management Instrumentatio [17:13:00] Leaving CAtomDAV::ScAddMetabaseKey [17:13:00] CBaseAtom::ScAdd (f:\titanium\admin\src\udog\setupbase\basecomp\baseatom.cxx:939 Error code 0X80041013 (4115): An error occurred during a call to Windows Management Instrumentatio [17:13:00] Service = '' CBaseServiceAtom::ScAdd (f:\titanium\admin\src\udog\setupbase\basecomp\basesvcatom.cxx:210 Error code 0X80041013 (4115): An error occurred during a call to Windows Management Instrumentatio [17:13:00] Leaving CBaseServiceAtom(Base DAV protocol)::ScAd [17:13:00] mode = 'Install' (61953) CBaseAtom::ScSetup (f:\titanium\admin\src\udog\setupbase\basecomp\baseatom.cxx:842 Error code 0X80041013 (4115): An error occurred during a call to Windows Management Instrumentatio Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks and Regards Phil Persson Tag: Moving Mailboxes and Public Folders between domains Tag: 114621

        • Exchange mailbox migration question Hello All I'm in the process of migrating our company's Exchange 5.5 organization to Exchange 2000. We have (4) Exchange 5.5 SP4 server in (4) different sites. The plan is consolidate down to a single server and administrative group My question is can I bring up an Exchange 2000 server in one of the sites, and migrate the mailboxes from my other sites to it? Or will I have to bring up an Exchange 2000 server in each site I plan to migrate to Exchange 2000? If the latter, this migration can be pretty expensive Thanks Fran Tag: Moving Mailboxes and Public Folders between domains Tag: 114615
