Migration - Distribution/Security groups?

We successfully migrated from an NT 4 domain to a W2K3 domain (native mode)
and from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 (native mode).
In the old domain, we had a security group (many) with the same name as a
distribution list (many). Now, the distribution lists do not work. We
would like to continue to use the old names for the Distribution list and
create new or rename the Security Groups.
Can we change the Group Type from Security to Distribution?
Or, can we rename the Security Group?

Do you want to keep the 2 groups?
Do they contain the same members?
