Hi all,

have some problems after migrating exchange 5.5 to 2000.
Everytime I reboot the server I get an error message in application protocol
that says that system attendant cannot logon to database (event id 1022).
Have moved all mailboxes from the old to the new server - clients can access
their mailboxes successfull.
Another problem are the public folders. Replicated all public folders
(almost contact elements) to the new server. But only clients with
administrative rights can access them (event id´s 9562 and 9551). It doesn´t
matter wich access rights I grant. In system manager I`m not able to open
public folders.
All articles I read say that it has something to do with AD-replication. But
I have not found a workaround yet.
Can anybody give me some input?
Thanks.

Hi Jens,

The 9551's you are getting usually indicate that there are user accounts
acl'd for permissions on the public folders that do not exist in AD. One
way to fix this is to remove all replica's of public folders from E2K, run
DS/IS consistency adjuster on 5.5 selecting option to remove unknown user
accounts from public folder permissions, and then replicate the folders back
to E2K.

Hi Craig,

first thanks for your help.
I´ve removed all replicas now and will wait for about 2 hours before I do
the next steps.
Another problem is that I can´t open the public folders in system manager.
Is this normal when I´ve these error messages?
Everything is fine again when I move the mailboxes back to the old exchange
5.5 server.

Thank you.

Hi Jens,

Do you mean you can't expand the folder hiearchy in system manger or you
can't access the properties of the folders? What error do you get?

Hi,

just solved the problem. I installed iis lockdown. After uninstalling access
was fine.
But users have still problems accessing the folders. Users on exchange 5.5
can open and change existing contact elements in public folders, users on
exchange 2000 can´t change them. The problem concerns not all of the
folders, just 2. The message that comes up says that they´ve no right to
change. But I checked the rights again and again. In eventlog I get
constantly id 1022 and 9562. Can you give me some more information?

Hi Jens,

Sounds like there is still an unknown account acl'd on the 2 folders. Try
removing all accounts/groups and adding them back until you figure out which
one is the problem. Do you have any 9551's in the app log?

I´ve no 9551´s in app log. Is it possible to remove iislockdown completely?
