I migrated from Exchange 2000 to a new sever running Exchange 2003 on a
Windows Small Business Server 2003. I used the "swing" migration method as
outlined in Microsft Article 821896. For the most part everything worked
well. However, I am not able to delete the old server from the Exchange
Management console. At first I did not think this way a problem as e-mail
seemed to be working fine. But, over time, I have realized that e-mail is
sometimes routed to the old server even though it no longer exists. I can
see it in the queue of the new server.

Although the older server is still listed in the Exchange Management
Console, I get a communication error when I click on it. It indcates the
information store cannot be found - which is true. The store is history.
But when I right click on it, it does not allow me to delete it. I do not
get an error when I try to delete it.

I'm assuming this is a registry issue. I need to delete the old server from
Exchange somehow. It is already gone from Active Directory. It is no longer
on the network. Thanks.

Microsoft Article ID 278918 resolved my issue. I deleted the server via the
LDAP tool.
