    - Exchange 2003 and Exchange 5.5 SMTP Hello! I recently upgraded my Exchange 5.5 to 2003 by joining existing site of the 5.5. Since then I moved all my mailboxes to 2003. My 5.5 is still in place and all external mail is still being routed to 5.5. Here is what i think is a problem that I noticed recently. When I send out mail to multiple external recipients, and then I go to the message tracking center in 2003, I can see that the email is being transfered from 2003 SMTP to 5.5 MTA for delivery.     - New Exchange server installation I am installing a Windows Server 2003 with Exchange 2000 into an existing Windows 2003 domain that has one 2003 active directory server. Is there a generalset of instructions for doing this or any specific tech papers you could point me to?     - migration sbs4.5+exch5.5sp4 to w2k3+exch2k3 I'm trying to migrate an old system running sbs4.5 and exch5.5sp4 to a new hp proliant ml350g4 w2k3srv and exchange 2k3 enterprise, but can't get out of it. everything seems easy as 123 on microsoft article, but in practice it is impossible. first of all, my old server sbs 4.5 has a very strange symptom: when open users manager, no users are display. I need to create aglobal group then a new users in this group , then delete this global group...if I'm lucky the users list will appear. facing this problem, my adc connector is playing a casio game: 43/54 users has been migrate successfully, but where are others? I hate the adc connector: everything is virtual, no statut bar,hd is spinning like crazy, but nothing happen to my users list... I do all the exchange migration step to join an exchange 5.5 site and organisation until the exchange installation.     - Public Contacts I just upgraded from 5.5 to Exchange 2000. We have a public contacts in our public folders. When I try to modify and save changes to a contact, I get the message: "The item could not be saved to this folder. The folder has been deleted or moved, or you do not have permission. Do you want to save a copy of it in the default folder for the item?" However, I can post new contacts as well as modify and delete the new contacts that I created.     - Hardware Recommendations with remote users? We are going to put our Exchange box at a DataCenter with a 10Mbps connection to it. We will also have a DC in the same cabinet. All of our users, almost 100 or so, will be connecting with notebook computers through RPC/HTTP. My question has to do with the power needed on the exchange server. If all the connections are through RPC/HTTP will it make much or a difference if we get a high speed server, dual 3.2Ghz, 4GB RAM, RAID 1 - OS, RAID 1 - Logs, RAID 5 - DB? Or would we be fine with the same RAID setup, but using SATA disks instead of SCSI. I just don't see how the server will be that pressured if the only line into it is 3Mbps. I actually want 'servy' to be an internet email user. I have deleted the public folder, but cannot now make a user of the same name.     - Unattended Installation of Numerous Exchange 2003 Servers Hi all! I work for a company that has about 800+ sites, one exchange server per site. Each site is a standalone domain/forest running WinNT and Exchange 5.5. Right now we are looking into the possible methods for rolling out Win2k3 and Exchange 2k3. The problem is that since each site is it's own domain, according to Microsoft we will have to manually install each exchange server, since they will each be the first/only exchange server in their organization. I was wondering if anyone here had another route that might be available to accomplish this massive rollout? We looked at RenameDomain, but that won't do what we will need to have done. Any help?     - Outlook 2000 hangs after migration form 5.5 to Exchange 2003 PC's with Office 2000 lockup when they start outlook 2000 on their PC after I powered down the original exchange 5.5 server. When I bring the server back up, & with Exchange services stopped, the office 2000 users can use outlook 2000 with no problems. Our vendor cannot find why the clients are still pointing to the old 5.5 server. I checked all local dns, outlook profile, Ip info on the PCs, if we upgrade to Office 2003 & use Outlook 2003 the users can use outlook 2003 with old server down.     - Recovering my exchange emails from hdd My 2000 sbs server has become corrupt and I have given up hope of repairing it. What I do have is a ghost(ed) HDD from a few weeks ago which is complete and works fine. My question is, can I copy files from the corrupt install(all data files appear to be ok) to the old ghost HDD to recover all emails on the exchange server. If not I'm screwed. Unless somebody knows a way to rebuild the exchange server with what I have got so my emails are upto date. Perhaps a merge of the two databases.     - SmartHost Trouble Hi All - My Exchange servers don't use the external smarthost I have entered for SMTP forwarding. I've read numerous posts on this and need some help. I have two Exch. 2003 servers, one in a remote office. There is one Exch. server and one Unix server in home office, the latter of which we want to use for an external smarthost. I have in the default/SMTP Main Mail connector under the First Routing Group, the [IP address] under Propertiies for the Unix/smarthost. I have rebooted/restarted services. I have not configured this smarthost in the SMTP Virtual Server properties for the two Exch. servers, per recommendations posted. Mail does not flow through the Unix/smarthost but rather gets sent directly to Internet. What am I missing? Any help is very appreciated.     - Restricted user access Hi all, I'm new at this, but I have a client that has a win2003 server running sbs, and wishes to have a remote desktop connection setup so that his customers can access a single program of his choice on the server, without the risk that any customer messes anything up in the windows settings and so on. I can figure out how to setup a user group, how to let the user have remote desktop connectivity, and I can even go to the Group policy editor and edit so that I create a very restrictive access policy, but this will be for all users ( local Computer policy) Can anybody inform me how to do the same for only an specified user group ?     - Setup exchange with different domains. We recently upgraded all of my clients PC's from a Windows 98 network to a Windows XP network. We ironed out all connectivity issues and now are ready to setup exchange. They have a website hosted by a local company. Their current mail is downloaded on an isolated PC and all their mail addresses end in ex. "@madeinusa.com". Their Windows 2003 server is setup with ex. "tree.local". They use a static IP and I will open up ports 25 and 110 on the router. i want to know how I can get exchange to receive and send out mail from the "@madeinusa.com" registered domain name.     - Exchange 5.5 OWA and PDA/Mobile Access Hello all..I am hoping someone can provide me with a couple of suggestions on this issue! Our CEO recently purchased a Palm Treo and wants to access his e-mail from it. We've been using OWA for Exchange 5.5 for remote access to e-mail. The problem is, the Treo does not support Java script, so when he goes to reply or forward, he gets a blank screen! In any event..I was wondering if anyone out there has come across this issue and how they were able to get their users in via a mobile device (does not have to be OWA..could be anything as long as its Exchange 5.5).     - Can connect to OWA logon screen, but hangs. Quite new to Exchange. Running Exchange 2003. Windows 2000 SP4. Can access the OWA logon screen both on the intranet and via FQDN -- both secured and not. In every scenario, after entering the username/passowrd, the logon just hangs.. It appears to be processing but doesn't progress. Things to mention: I moved the Exchange mailboxes from our C to D drive to free space on C. When I try to access the user folder under the "Exchange" folder in IIS, I get the error "Unable to enumerate files and directories because....     - 5.5 - 2003 Migration - Sending mail from one to the other I am performing a migration from Exchange 5.5 to 2003. I joined the 2003 server to the existing Exchange Organization. No errors during install and I am synchronizing correctly with the ADC. I created test accounts on the 2003 server and was able to send from 5.5 - 2003 and vice-versa. I just performed a test mailbox move from 5.5 - 2003. I am unable to send from a 5.5 to the moved mailbox now on the 2003 Server. I receive the following undeliverable message... I have let the servers sit for over a day since I moved the mailbox and still that user does not show in the GAL anymore and I still cannot setup an Outlook profile for the moved user?     - OWA in DMZ - HowTo I'm planning the deployment of the new messaging system in our company. The Exchange 2003 ENT will reside in LAN. Many users need to access their mailboxes using POP, IMAP and HTTP (OWA). In DMZ we have 2 W2K ADV (NLB). The best solution would be installing OWA on the W2K servers in DMZ and opening 2 ports needed for outside users to download mail via POP or IMAP. But installing OWA on a stand-alone server (which does not have Exch) seems to be impossible. So AFAIK the only solution is: install EXCH 2003 Front-end on both W2K ADV servers in DMZ.     - ISA is not listening to port 443 I am setting OWA with the internal certificate. I have also set up my ISA to listen to to the external IP address. I have installed certificate on both ISA and Exchange 2003 server and I have published the Web publisher on ISA. Accessing internally using <https://www.myserver.com/exchange> is OK but from Internet it says "Page cannot be displayed" and DNS error. My ISA is a member server and is a part of another domain separated from the domain where the Exchange 2003 server. Do I need to intall the certificate on the DC where ISA resides?.     - OWA in a mixed environment Hi everyone, We are currently running two environment, exchange 2000 and 2003, but plan on completely switching to 2003 soon. None of the 2003 servers currently have mailboxes on them as we are just in the in the process of setting everything up. All servers are in the same admin group. The existing OWA server has 2000, and I have a question about how to get new OWA 2003 going without causing the ex2k server any problems. The goal is to gradually move mailboxes to 2003, and of course, we want the mailboxes that are not yet moved to have all the functionality they're used to.     - 0XC103FC93 Error Message When Running EX2003 Setup In going through the Exchange 5.5 to 2003 migration steps I have gotten all the way to the step where Exchange is actually installed. I have setup the ADC (the one from the Exchange CD) and in running the setup when I try the option to Join and Existing 5.5 server I get the following error message: 0xC103FC93 Setup encountered an error while attemtping to bind to the Exchange server "____":0xC103FC93(64659): The Exchange 5.5 directory service could not be contacted. Please ensure that the service is running properly, that it is listening on the correct portm and that you have the appropriate permissions needed to connect to the server. The servers are on two different domains however I have estabilished a trust and have made sure that the administrator from the new 2003 domain is at the three levels in the 5.5 exchange administrator. In another site they reference a 5.5 hotfix that will resolve this issue however no other information was given. Does anyone have any idea where I should go from here. Any help would be great.     - OWA not working right I have just set up a W2k server with Exch. 2K3. I got the e-mai portion working correctly (can send and receive e-mails bot internally and from the outside world using outlook and thunderbird) The problem is aI can't get Outlook Web Access working properly When I go to OWA ip address I get the initial pop-up login screen when I enter the username and password the pop-up comes up again wit the username as "192.168.1.18\username. I reenter the password an then I get a simple looking page that has a single line that states Error: Access is Denied.     - Replacing exchange 2000 server with new server hardware. Hello I am replacing a current exchange 2000 server running on windows 2000 with new server hardware. The new server is running windows 2000. I have done forest and domain prep, installed exchange 2000 on the new server, configured replicas in the public folders, changed all server roles to the new server, migrated all mailboxes to the new server and everything is working great. All clients have detected the change of servers and mail is flowing. I now want to remove all replicas of the old server from public folders, however when I attempt to remove the last replica of the old server from the configuration public folder I am prompted for a password. The account that is filled in the username is the admin account that I am logged in as. When I put in my password it keeps popping back to that log in dialog and won't accept my password. Since I didn't set up that old server I have no idea what a password might be. After all that my question is can I safely remove the old server with that replication instance still in the configuration folder, or will I cause terrible problems?     - Removed Exchange from AD on additional DC while connected to main DC (SBS2003 SP1) Long story short... was attempting to migrate a SBS2003 SP1 box using Swing Migration method... seee www.sbsmigration.com... The steps, add a member server to domain and dcpromo it... turn on global catalogue on this DC... seize all of the roles and then SHUT DOWN the SBS box and then go thru and toss out what will be rebuilt as part of the Swing Migration on the added DC... Everything went smooth until I had removed Exchange using AD Sites and Services and AD USers and Computers. However as both boxes were still online and connected this replicated to the SBS box. (Just shortly after deleting Exchange it hit me that I had the DC connected... ) Is there a way to rebuild these or can I uninstall Exchange and reload it? Guess I'm looking for some direction as to the best method to rebuild this information and to get my mail running again. I have full backup. The SBS2003 nox is a standard install at SP1. TIA. I have registered the MX record and did a dnslookup to verify it is responding. Exchange 2003 sp1 seems to not send to many sites, retrying over and over
over a 2 day period. The sites are not down, Exchange just refuses to
deliver mail to them.

One is hotmail.com, but many others are colleges, etc. I can go into the
queue and see the retries, where it connects and then just does not send.

Any ideas?
