Installing a Front End Server

I want to install a front end exchange 2003 server in my DMZ. I have a back
end server already installed on my internal network.

The server is currently on the DMZ and not on our domain. Does the server
need to be on our domain for us to install the exchange front server. Also
regarding the installation steps do we create a new organization or do we
add it to a existing exch 5.5 site. Are there any steps i can use to
install a exch 2003 front end in a DMZ.

a. You would add it to your existing mixed mode site. OWA on 2003 can be a
front end for Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003 mailbox servers. The features
you get will depend on the combination of FE server version and BE server
version. You won't be using Exchange 2003 as a front end for Exchange 5.5
mailbox servers.

Assuming you've opened all the ports in:

Then either allow icmp or turn off the wLDAP ping protocol.
