    - MAX size of Mailbox in Exchange Std 2003 and 2007 Hello all, We are planning to change from MDaemon to an Exchange-server. Can anyone tell me how big a single mailbox can be in Exchange 2003 and 2007 ?     - Multiple e-mail domains on 1 exchange server I work for a consulting company and we are selling some speacially developed software. We have our main e-mail of user@companya.com. We have e-mail domains for each of the software packages we are selling. info@software1.com and info@software2.com. I want to have all three e-mail domains on one exchange server. When someone resplies to e-mail from companya they should reply back from companya. And the same for the other 2.     - Second Exchnge server not sending emails Our current AD/Exchange setup is a mess, unfortunately I can't start from scratch. So here's the deal: AD was upgrade from 2000 to 2003 and Exchange was upgraded from 5.5 to 2003. Our Exchange Arch: SMTP Linux server (DMZ), Exchange 2003 Server (DMZ - front end) and Exchange 2003 (IS store - backend). My problem: I have been here 3 months and the exchange IS has never gone through offline defrag, and is now 150GB and my company can't afford to be down several hours while I do the defrag. My solution: Setup new exchange 2003 server, move mailboxes to different IS's and eventually delete the big 150GB store once all mailboxes have been moved to the new server. My problem: The second server is NOT WORKING!!! I cannot get it to receive emails (internal/external). Offline Address Books are not synchronizing. Outlook clients get error 8004010F. If the mailboxes reside on the same server, they CAN send/receive emails. But any other transfer in to the new server is not possible.     - Distribution List I have installed Exchange 2003 on Windows Server 2003 R2 and have successfully moved the mailboxes and public folders from Exchange 5.5 to it. Now, here's my problem. In Exchange 5.5, I had a mailbox setup with a general account ( e.g. general@myhome.com ). This was setup on an Outlook 2000 Client to pull mail from our ISP for this general account and forward to a distribution list that was created on the 5.5 server ( e.g. General Forward ). In this General Forward list there were two people in my office that needed to receive these e-mail messages ( e.g. user1@myhome.com & user2@myhome.com ). Now, I have tried to set this back up in 2003 and I get nothing. No forward, no errors, nothing. I have setup a distribution group in AD and assigned the two users to that group. If I am reading correctly ( and at this point of my frustration, it's very possible that I'm missing something ), when popmail is pulled with the 2000 client, it should then be immediately forwarded to the users in the distribution group.     - Cannot open mailboxes of users with account in Exchangeadmins group after they are migrated to Exchange 2003 Server We have a Windows 2000 SP4 server running Exchange 2000 SP3 with most of our users' mailboxes on it. We have recently built a new Exchange 2003 cluster running on Windows 2003 SP1. I have only migrated the IT department's mailboxes on to it for the time being. One thing I have noticed, is that in the past I used an email account that was a member of the Exchangeadmins group to open user's mailboxes when necessary. This no longer works on users who are now on the Exchange 2003 cluster. When I try and open their mailboxes (through Outlook), I get the error message 'Unable to open your default e-mail folders. When come into the configuring replication of the public folders, I wonder what is the minimum replication I need to configure.     - Install Exchange 2000 on Windows 2003 member server in Windows 2000 domain Hi, Just bought a new server (Windows 2003 R2) to run Exchange 2000 and find that it warns about installing. The domain controllers are Windows 2000 and there is an existing Windows 2000 member server running Exchange 2000 which will be removed eventually. Upgrading Exchange to 2003 isn't all that pricey, but then I have to buy the Exchange 2003 CAL's which I haven't budgeted on for this year.     - Exmerge from NT4/Exchange 5.5 Old server: NT 4.0 w/SP6, Exchange 5.5 New server: Windows Server 2003 Std w/SP1 I`m planning to install Exchange 2003 Std with a new Exchange-organization on the new server and merge the mailboxes from the old server using Exmerge. The newest Exmerge doesn`t support NT4, so I downloaded v. 3.71. When trying to export the mailboxes on the old server all the mailboxes is exported, but everyone get a size between 32 kb and 256 kb.     - Hardware / Disk Advice.... Good afternoon - We will soon be implementing an Exchange 2003 Std. server. We have about 120 users. I've read quite a bit on "best practices". I'm not willing to "cheap out", but my bosses don't want to break the bank either. The CPU, RAM, NIC, etc. are not my concern. My concern is hard disk config. The "Move Mailbox" failed, so we manually created the new mailbox and imported pst files. However the user is getting no inbound external mail.     - Upgrading Ex5.5 to Ex2k3 I have a 5.5 Exch server that sits on a single domain in which we run AD on a 2k system. I am upgrading to Ex2k3. The new Exch will be on a Win2k3 server. During the setup, on the Service account window when trying to assign username and password for the Microsoft Exchange Forst Preparation component, the username and domain and greyed out and I can only enter the password. The "Domain\Username" is correct so I enter the password and get "This account must be valid before continuing.     - Adding an Exchange server to a SBS network My situation is a little different from the previous post on this topic. I also want to add Exchange standard to my existing SBS 2003 domain. But want to add it as a disaster recovery option. What's the best way to do this? Basically, I've already made my Windows Server 2003 Standard R2 box a member server and I'd like to add the Exchange as well. Since my R2 box is already acting as a member server and has all the Active Directory information in it, would I be able to restore an Exchange backup from the SBS server to the R2 server in the event of a disaster?     - SendMail to Exchange Good Day, Company X have decided to take a new approach in migrating from SendMail to Exchange 2003 cluster, the scenario are as follows: 1. There is 2 Linux servers, POP and SMTP 2. I am going to install Exchange 2003 cluster 3. Both (Sendmail and Exchange) will be in production till all users have been moved from SendMail to Exchange 4. There must be a â??trustâ?? (I think it is a route?)between the Exchange server and the SendMail servers 5. SendMail will then be history What I want to accomplish: 1. I want to make the Exchange server the master relay servers for company X, So all mail going out and coming in will go through Exchange 2. Letâ??s say I have 5 e-mail users in SendMail, when someone send User1@CompanyX.com a mail from outside it is going through the Exchange server, the exchange server must recognize that the e-mail account is not in exchange and then must forward it SendMail where the user will get his mail 3. When I move/delete user1@companyX.com from Sendmail, it will be moved/created in exchange, someone outside is sending him a mail, exchange recognizes that the user is in exchange and will not forward the mail to SendMail 4. This will be the approach, we are going to change every user outlook profile from POP to Exchange manually, and we are not worried to lose any mail, if mail gets lost, it is fine, users download from POP to a pst file on their local machine. Now, 1. How do I make the Exchange server the master relay server? 2. How do I create a trust for mail to be routed to the SendMail server if the user does not exist (I am not worried about the SendMail side, there is a SendMail Admin that will do that part) 3.     - Exchange 2003 System Manager on Windows 2003 member server I installed the ESM on a Windows 2003 member server using a custom install, and chose to only install the ESM. However, now this member server is listed in ESM as an installed server with mounted stores. When I go into Add/Remove wizard to remove the Messaging installation (Which it does show as installed btw), I am told there is no object on the server.     - unable to access OWA after install SP2 Here is the scenario. New Exchange 2003 build w/ FE OWA server. Built backend server then the FE Tested owa http://FEserver/exchange entered username in password. My mailbox comes up but in the message pane appears to be stuck with a message "loading" (sigh) at this point I smack my forhead duh, I need to install SP2 on FEserver to access the mailboxes on BEserver So I merrily install SP2 on FEserver and reboot, anxious to bask in my glory I open IE and enter http://FEserver/exchange, I enter in my user name and pw, hit enter, the logon box comes back. Hmph, I say to myself maybe I typed in the password wrong, try again...well after 3 times it comes up with 401 unauthorized. So, I enter in http://BEserver/exchange, put in my username and password and it works beautifully. So, there seems to be an issue after installing sp2 on the FE server Both servers Windows 2k3 R2, And running Exchange 2k3 sp2 (no additional patches) yes I am positive both have sp2 Yes, I will call Microsoft in the a.m. however I thought I would give you all try, since you have been so helpfull in the past, and if any of you are able to answer before I call then that would save me several hours of being being tortured by "hold" music.     - Migrating from ISP POP3 Accounts to Exchange with OWA My organization currently gets email from our ISP via POP3. All the users have Outlook 2003 as a client and thus their email resides in a PST file. Now we are setting up an Exchange FrontEnd/BackEnd configuration. So far, the two Windows 2003 servers seem to be able to talk to each other and send email. OWA works on both machines. I have these problems/questions: 1) I set up a test mailbox. Inside the network, the user has both a mailbox and a PST file. Obviously, from outside the network (using OWA), the PST file cannot be seen. However any email placed in the inbox of the mailbox does NOT show up when looked at via OWA. When email is moved via OWA to the Drafts folder, for example, it does appear when looked at from the inside network. What's going on here? 2) I have remote users that are always outside the network. As above, they rely exclusively on POP3 to the ISP. Now they will have an Exchange mailbox. Is there a best practice/standard procedure for what to do with their PST files?     - OMA operation I am having problems configuring Active Sync and OMA. When sending emails to domains outside of our internal corporate domain using a smart phone (running Mobile 5.0), the message body is removed. If I check the mailbox Sent Items folder, the message is intact. I tested the process using OMA, and the same issue occurs. it seems during some conversion process, the message body is removed. any ideas on how to fix this? it is not the mobile device since i have tested the configuration with both Palm Treo devices (Windows and PalmOS versions), and the Motorola Q.     - Migrate Exchange 5.5 to 2000 and NT4 to 2000 server Hello, I have to migrate a complete and only server (server 1) in a domain from Nt4 to Windows 2000. The server also has exchange 5.5 servicepack 4 installed. The problem I have is that the hardware is falling apart, so everthing has to be redone on a new server. When I'm done, I'd like to have windows 2000 server, exchange 2000 as well as all users and their emails on new hardware (server 3). I thought I'd appraoch this by setting up a BDC (server 2) on some older compatible hardware. (The new hardware does not support windows NT.) After taking this off the net and promoting it to a PDC, I'd then run windows 2000 over it. After hookong it back up I'd like to promote the new hardware (server 3) to a DC and then demote the temporary DC (server 2) and take it offline. Now I would install exchange 2000 on server 3 (new hardware). This would leave me with the old server with all the users and their emails untouched and the new server with the users and no emails yet. Somehow I'd then get the emails from the old server to the new server. Would this work? I have read many "How tos" and they all say to upgrade to windows 2000 server. It is not clear to me if the server with exchange 5.5 is meant or if any one server in the domain can be a windows 2000 server DC. Or does the the old server have to upgraded to windows 2000 for all of this to work? I don't want to touch it, I'm scared it might fall apart :-). Works perfectly nice elegant solution. However I can't access this same server from a Terminal Server 2003 running Outlook 2003. I have two domain controller Windows 2000 SP4 and one Exchange 2003 SP1 on
Windows 2003. I have bought two news server with W2003 R2. If I want upgrade
my domain AD from W2K SP4 to W2003 R2, are there any problems for my Exchange
2003 Server? Is better that before to upgrade the domain I install the SP2 of
Exchange 2003?

Upgrading your domain to Windows server 2003 R2 AD should not affect your
Exchange 2003 server.
