Hi everyone,

Using sbs 2003, outlook 2003 sp2.

Configured imap (much easier then configuring Exchange account) on a pc but
only the inbox is showing all other 'folders' are missing. Any suggestion as
to what might have gone wrong is much appreciated.

Regards,

Smiley

Do you have the correct logon name syntax:

Imap4 username syntax is "domain/username/mailboxalias"

configure outbound smtp username as "domain/username" and require
authentication.

You usually to subscribe or do a query under Tools somewhere to see
subfolders with IMAP.

Doesnt sound easier than setting up an Exch account to me :P

Hi

excuse my innocent. What is mailboxalias ?

I configure the incoming and outgoing as the same - using fqdn

please correct me if I get it wrong. Using the following as example.
User name : ASmiley
Domain : abc.local
mailboxalias : I presume that is the mailbox name which will be ASmiley

Then on setting up the email account.
Under logon Information - User name should be ABC/ASmiley/ASmiley

Under server Information - Outgoing mail server (SMTP) should be ABC/ASmiley

Also should check the box for Log on using Secure Password Authentication.

Please let me know if I misunderstood your info.

Regards,

Smiley

Hi Andy,

You would be right, it is not easier then exchange. However at the time when
I thought it was the way, I thought it was easier but from you and
Realdeal1's reply, it is NOT. Otherwise, I should have an Imap account
working.

Can't find anything under TOOLS for setting subfolder. I originally thinking
it was like Exchange, setup all the sent, outbox etc for you.

I am still lost but will give it another go tomorrow.
