2nd Exchange Server On the Network
To Whom Can Help:
Is it possible to add a second Exchange server on a network with the
intention of making the second Exchange server the primary Exchange server?
Also, what would be required to migrate the information from the old Exchange
server to the new one? Both Exchange servers will be Exchange 2003. Would
it make a difference if the second Exchange server has a service pack applied
if the first one doesn't?

Joining exchange to a new company forest
Hi all,
I recently migrated to new company 2k3 trusted forest in my network because
the company changed names. Now, what are the steps if any? Am I suppose to
do to join my 2k3 exchange to the new 2k3 trusted company forest. Since it
is trusted. I can see the new forest from the network before I login.
should I just log on to the new company forest and that will be it? Or are
there any steps I should fallow?

Repeatedly prompted for Credentials accessing OWA
I'm having trouble deploying OWA to allow connections from outside my LAN. I
can access OWA with no problem from inside my LAN
(http://servername/exchange).
I have a single static IP that is filtered through my router. HTTP ports
80/443 go to server 192.168.254.xxx and SMTP port 25 go to server
192.168.254.xxx.
In order to access OWA I have configured the following:
1) Opened port 6040 at my router and forward requests to my Exchange server
192.168.254.xxx
2) Set IIS on my Exchange Server to listen on port 6040.
I can access OWA fine from my LAN at http://servername:6040/exchange. When i
try to access OWA externally, I am prompted for my credentials as expected
but when I enter Username, Password and Domain I am repeatedly asked for my
credentials until until I get the dreaded 'Error: Access is Denied' page. I
have tried every conceiveable combination DOMAIN\Username, username,
username@domain...etc.
What am I doing wrong? Tag: Global Address in OWA Tag: 148410
RPC over HTTPS
I'm working on setting up RPC over HTTPS on a single server, but I have a
quick question. The requirements for the server are: RPC over HTTP/S
requires Windows Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2003. RPC over HTTP/S also
requires Windows Server 2003 in a Global Catalog role.
Does this mean they have put an exchange 2003 on a windows 2003 global
catalog server? If I remember correctly MS says for best performance not to
have your exchange server be a global catalog. I'm I wrong?

New Exchange 2003 regional office server not routing mail back to HQ
We have a regional office which has a server that doubles as a Windows
2000 domain controller / dns server and an Exchange 2000 server. This
office connects to our main HQ via a DSL line, and we have routing
groups and connectors for both the regional office and HQ. This has all
worked fine for several years, but we are upgrading the email system to
Exchange 2003 (the HQ has already been done). Accordingly, I built a
new Exchange 2003 server on the HQ network, and then shipped it out to
the regional office, but I have a problem that all mail to and from
mailboxes on this server just gets stuck in the queue for 'HQ to
regional office link', and does not get delivered. I then changed the
IP address, flushed the dns cache, and re registered DNS entry. I also
changed the default gateway and the default DNS server to values
appropriate to the regional office LAN. Basically, as far as I can see
the new server is set up the same as the existing server, and it is a
member of the correct routing group in ESM. I have also set it as an
additional remote bridgehead for the link coming from our HQ
(incidentally, I tried removing it from here too, but it did not make a
difference).
The message tracker facility failed to shed much light on this but the
log for one message is as follows:
SMTP: Message submitted to advanced queuing
SMTP: Started message submission to advanced queue
SMTP: Message submitted to categorizer
SMTP: Message categorized and queued for routing
SMTP: Message queued for local delivery
SMTP: Message delivered delivered locally to testuser@mydomain.com
SMTP: Non Delivered report (NDR) generated
However, I did get a message from the the HQ account I used when I
tried to email an account based on the new regional server:
The e-mail system was unable to deliver the message, but did not report
a specific reason. Check the address and try again. If it still fails,
contact your system administrator.
<newregionalserver.mydomain #5.0.0>
On another message, the message tracker is more comprehensive. "Message
routed and queued for remote delivery" occurs repeatedly at two
seperate times in the day. It appears the server tried to send it
through this route, but it failed, so the process went right back to
advanced queuing again.
I do not understand why the old server works with the same settings,
but the new one does not. Any advice gratefully received. Tag: Global Address in OWA Tag: 148407
Exchange 2K3 SP2 install on Server 2K3 sp1
We have an exchange server 2003 I am trying to install SP2 and I get an error
that says I must have exchange server 2003 installed before I can install the
upgrade. The version of exchange is 6.5 build = 6944.4
I was not with the company when 2k3 was installed, however I have suspicions
that it was installed over the top of an existing exchange 2000 and the data
store was migrated.
Could the existing exchange 2000 regkeys be confusing the 2k3 SP2 install.
The only remnants I have found of exchange 2000 are a few regkeys, and a
directory with the 2000 sp2 install files in it.
We are running Windows server 2003 standard edition SP1 and Exchange server
2003 enterprise edition.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tag: Global Address in OWA Tag: 148403
Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync on SBS 2003
I have SBS 2003 Standard Edition behind a Sonicwall firewall. Can I set up

glanced at refer to ISA as a requirement. Is this so? Can I use the
built-in SBS certificate? Can you point me to a good "how to" document?

Urgent: connecting exchange 2k3 to windows storage
Hello all
I have been reading MS documentation and searching the web on connecting
exch2k3 to windows storage server 2K3R2. All of these documents refer to
installing
the Feature pack, but none of them say how to get the feature pack and where
and how to install it from.
Could anyone shed some light on this for me please?

Add money to your Paypal account with OPRAH 9&,`K
Read this message until the end, and you will find out how the money flows in easy !!!!.
Follow the steps and it WILL work. Trust me !!!!!.
It's NOT illegal and it is NOT a scam !!!!!.
PROVEN ON OPRAH! Reported in the Wall Street Journal!!!!
The only thing you need is : - E-MAIL ACCOUNT
- PREMIER (FREE) or BUSINESS PAYPAL ACCOUNT
- $6 on this account (The only investment)
- 30 minutes of your time
There is no limit on how much money you can recieve, and you haven't got anything to lose with this Business program. I will explain how it works !!!!!.
Follow these 4 easy steps and it WILL work !!!!!.
STEP 1 : SIGN UP FOR A FREE PAYPAL ACCOUNT !!!!!.
Paypal is a free and safe way to pay and receive money on the Internet.
Creating a account is as easy as creating a MSN account.
Copy and paste the next line in your Internet browser and sign up.
Be sure to sign up for a FREE Premier or Business account and not for a Personal account.
You cannot receive CREDITCARD payments with a Personal account and we can't have that. Do we !!!!!.
STEP 2 : SENT $6 TO YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT
This is your only investment to receive the money with ease.
With your Paypal account, send $1 to each e-mailadres listed below.
!!!!! IMPORTANT !!!!! Be sure to use this SUBJECT : *PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR EMAIL LIST* when you send the money.
1) martine@pilote.net
2) dexxatol@netcourrier.com
3) armygirl8568@hotmail.com
4) comjii@starband.net
5) sinnek@bellsouth.net
6) nsi@nelasat.com
STEP 3 : PUT YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST
After you have send $1 to each e-mail address, put your e-mail address on the 6th place.
Remove e-mail address number 1, and move each e-mail address 1 step up the ladder.
!!!!! IMPORTANT !!!!! BE SURE THAT THE E-MAIL ADDRESS YOU USE IS THE SAME AS YOU USED TO SIGN UP AT PAYPAL.
Remember that this is LEGAL. You are creating a service : an e-mail servicelist.
STEP 4 : UPLOAD OR COPY THIS MESSAGE TO NEWSGROUPS, FORUMS ETC AND EMAIL IT TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS!
There are 32,000 newsgroups. Upload or copy this message to at least 200 newsgroups or forums etc, but ........ remember that the more your upload the more people will see your message and the MORE MONEY WILL FLOW IN.
How to upload to newsgroups and forums? :
After you have followed step 1,2,3 and 4, save this message (and copy so you can use it again).
Use your Internet browser and Outlook Express or another newsreader and try to find FORUMS, NEWSGROUPS,
BULLETIN BOARDS, DISCUSSION GROUPS, CHAT SITES and ONLINE COMMUNITIES. Use GOOGLE or use a NEWSERVER.
Use every option to post this message. Download PostXpert to send 1 message to more NEWSGROUPS at the
same time.
!!!!! REMEMBER !!!!! The more you post this message the more MONEY WILL FLOW IN.
Why does this Business program work so well !!!!!.
Lets asume that from the 200 (or more) messages that you have posted, only 5 people respond, you will have your
$6 back that you have invested. Those 5 people will each send at least 200 messages with your e-mailadres on
number 4. That's 6 x 6 x $1 = $36. The next 25 people will also send 200 messages with your adres on number 3. That's 36 x 6 x $1 = $216. The next 216 people also send 200 messages with your name on number 2. That's 216 x 6
x $1 = $1296!. Those 1296 people again also send 200 messages with your name on number 1. That will give us a total of 1296 x 6 x $1 = $7,776.
Now the last tier! 7776 x 6 x $1 = $46,656!!!!!!
This is only a EXAMPLE with 6 reactions. You WILL get MORE responses than that.
Remember that most newsservers will leave the posted messages on there servers for about 2 weeks. If you will post your message again, it WILL again start from the beginning. So you can repeat this over and over again.
Everyday MILLIONS of people are ONLINE and reading these messages, JUST LIKE YOU RIGHT NOW.
I also was sceptical in the beginning and have read a lot of these messages. I also thought that it was bullshit.
Until I thought : What the hell!, only $6. What's $6 and a couple of minutes of my time to solve my money problems.
!!!!! REMEMBER !!!!! Follow every step, and IT WILL WORK, TRUST ME. !!!!!
!!!!! BEST WISHES AND GOOD LUCK !!!!!

owa issue
Hi all,
We just recently setup 1 Exchange 2003 Enterprise Server. It is being
published by a ISA 2004 Server. Everything appears to be working fine.
However, in OWA, whenever the user clicks on a link, it pops up a new window
and asks them to re-login. This is very frustrating. Why is that? We are
using the Exchange OWA login security in ISA. Please help!

POP3 incoming mail not working
Please help.
I had a nightmareish fortnight - spyware etc (say no more). The bottom line
is I had to reinstall just about everything on our network. There are still a
few things that need sorting but my main problem is as follows:
POP3 accounts do not download on the exchange server
The event log goes
1027 - so I can log into the ISP
1029 - so the user name/password bounces
(this happenes to all my various ISP accounts so it is not an ISP problem.
If I telnet I can log in OK, and if I pop3 into the ISP from a workstation I
can download OK and the email goes into the mailbox also there is still an
error coming up (Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server' reported error
(0x8004010F): 'The operation failed. An object could not be found'. I am sure
this is a different issue and I rather sort out one thing at a time but any
ideas are appreciated.
It almost seems as if the username/password is getting scrambled. I checked
for malware - I saw that in one of the discussions in this newsgroup - but
that looked clean.
Of course I could always carry on using the workstation but it feels a bit
like pushing your car around town because you run out of fuel and the engine
would not start.
The registry entries for the POP3 look alright but then I am not sure if
that is the right place to start looking anyway. Tag: Global Address in OWA Tag: 148377

How do I remove a now defunct old domain from our users' email addresses?
We used to have a domain - lets call it olddomain.com - that we sold
off to another company. However, we still have the problem that most of
our existing users (several hundred), have this domain name as an email
alias. Obviously, as the MX records on the internet have changed for
olddomain.com, no one externally is going to email our users using
these addresses but the IT director would like these entries removed
anyway. I do not want to have to remove all of these manually, as that
is an extremely laborious task. Is there a way of removing all of these
entries together?
We have a Windows 2000 domain, and run an Exchange 2003 backend cluster
with an Exchange 2003 front end server. All servers are running the
latest service packs and patches.
Many thanks. Tag: Global Address in OWA Tag: 148367
Second Exchange Server setup
Hello!
We've got an Exchange Server 2003 with SP2 on Windows 2000 DC and Windows
Server 2003 DC. It works without problems.
Recently we bought new server. I've installed Windows Server 2003 and
another instance of Exchange Server 2003 SP2 on it.
Form Based Authentification is enabled. When I try to access OWA - i get an
error 440 Login Timeout.
I tried to reset local IUSR_NEWServer account password , but it did not
help.
Please advise.

How to change default OWA/OMA Port
Hi all,
One Server 2003 R2 DC with Exchange 2003/SP2. Clients are accessing OWA and
OMA remotely and it's working fine.
I want to change the port number from 80 to something else for security
reasons and I was wondering what's the preferred method. I've tried just
redirecting the port numbers on the router (eg: port 4000 -> 80) but you
don't get passed the login prompt. Can't seem to find anything useful about
this matter on the net either.
Any help appreciated.

Is there any way to bypass this thing. Let's say the account is just a
regular
user and not an admin. How would i sitting at the DC or exchange server
manage to fool the AD into creating the account without
1. logging off the admin account and login in as the user
or
2. going to another workstation and loggin the user there for the first
time.

A non-delivery report with a status code of 5.3.5
We are a small one domain company and want to move Exchange server to a new
computer with a different name in the same routing group. We install Windows
2003 Setandard Server and Exchange 2003 Standard Server with the identical
service pack and hotfixes. Then we move one mailbox to the new server and
test. In the new server it can send and receive all internal and external
emails, but the users in the old server cannot sent emails to the user in
the new server. The following error we got:
A configuration error in the e-mail system caused the message to bounce
between two servers or to be forwarded between two recipients. Contact your
administrator. <oldserver.domain.com#5.3.5>

Description:
A non-delivery report with a status code of 5.3.5 was generated for ...
Causes: A looping condition was detected. (The server is configured to route
mail back to itself). If you have multiple SMTP Virtual Servers configured
on your Exchange server, make sure they are defined by a unique incoming
port and that the outgoing SMTP port configuration is valid to avoid looping

Configure OWA on a single server
Hi all,
I am trying to improve my know-how. Therefore, I installed on an old PC at
home Windows Server 2003 and Exchange 2003. I had no problem to setup the
server and all the mailboxes.
However, I was checking the web about a article which tells me how to
configure OWA on a single server. I found a lot of information, but I am
stocked.
Do I need to install ISA?
Do you have a link which has some more information to this topic?
Kind regards,

New Exchange 2003 Mail Account
Good Afternoon,
I hope everyone is doing well today. We've been using SBS since the 4.5
version I believe. We upgraded to 2000 when it came out and upgraded to
2003 sometime last year I believe. My boss has had his email account
through all of the upgrades. His Outlook is very slow and I want to
create a new mail account and move his mail items into this new account.
Can anyone tell me the best way to do this?
His PC is moving slow also, so I'm going to wipe it clean and do a fresh
install of XP. While I'm doing this, I might as well give him a new mail
account in Exchange. I want to know the best way to take the data from his
old MailBox and put it into a new mail box. I'm hoping this will fix the
problems. I'm thinking because the mailbox dates back to the 4.5 version, I
should just create a whole new box. Please advise.
Sincerely,
Anthony Smith

Protect Exchange - Best way to do this
Hi
I'm been asked to set up an Exchange server for a small company. (Small
business server is not an option). And I'm considering how to make this as
secure as possible, after the OS is hardened.
Traditionally I've used a simple firewall, and port forward port 25 to the
SMTP service on the Exchange. Now the firewall has a dedicated dmz port, and
I'm looking at putting this to good use. What do you guys normally do? To
you use a *nix based smarthost that is exposed to the internet with port 25
forwarded from the firewall to the nix box, and then relay to exchange, or
is it normal to prefer a ISA server in standalone mode with message screener
that relays inbound mail to the exchange server?
Valuable feedback is much appreciated.

Exchange 5.5 -> Exchange 2003 Migration
Hi all,
I am working a plan for exchange 5.5 to 2003 migration. Currently, my
company is using NT4.0 domain structure, and plan to migration Windows 2003
by ADMT.
Our migration plan is :create two ways trust between domains; migrated all
users to new domain. Then migrate clients computer account to new domain and
clone the security setting; and lastly migrate all others server and it's
security setting. Once everything all right, the old NT domain will be
removed from the network.
Some background of my company: 300~400 users, and around 100 are travell
around the world and they will access company network by VPN; 5 sites with 1
PDC and 1 BDC. 20 different type servers, 1 Exchange 5.5 server and 2 OWA
server.
And here some confusions I want to clarify.
1. when is the best time to migrate exchange 5.5 server to the new domain by
ADMT? I am confusing if some roaming users are off site during migration
period,
Will these users be affected if their PC haven't migrated to new domain.
Here I mean could they still check email from the exchange 5.5 when they
logon to old NT domain.
2. If user accounts are migrated to new domain and they logon to new domain,
but the exchange 5.5 hasn't, can they still check email??
3. Can I install Exchange 2003 now or I should install it once the exchange
5.5 has been migrated to new domain?
Thanks,

starting POP3
Hi

Client1 Client2
Client1: Outlook 2003 setup using Microsoft Exchange Server as server type
(Everything is ok with Client1 - sending/receiving internet
emails.)
Client2: Outlook 2003 setup using POP3 as server type
In ESM|FirstOrganization|Servers|MyExServer|Protocols|POP3, the Default POP3
Virtual Server has a red X.
Correct me if I'm wrong, for Client2 to connect to the server, the Default
POP3 Virtual Server needs to be started. When I tried starting it, an error
popped up.
POP3 Configuration: The service did not respond to the start or control
request in a timely fashion.
Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.
(I checked the event viewer, and there is no related error.)
Also regarding POP connector, I don't need a connector for the above
scenario, do I ?
Please help.
Thank you

How to 'insert' front end Exchange 2003 server
I currently am running 1 Exchange 2003 server (BE) and would like to to add a
new Exchange front end server.
I would prefer to not have to re-configure each users Outlook settings in
order to have them access the FE server instead of the current BE server. I
believe I will need to rename the old BE server, and then rename the new FE
server to the old BE name. Is this correct?
Actually I tried this, and it didn't work. The FE & BE configuration worked,
until I changed the server names. Should I do the renaming before installing
Exchange on the new FE server? Or is there an other (easier) way of
accomplishing this.
All servers are running Server 2003 SP1. Exhange is SP2.

Exchange 2003 and Active Directory

in AD on the Primary Domain Controller. Does anyone have any ideas on why and
how to resolve this and either import the new Exchange 2003 Server
installation into AD or to migrate it? Thanks to all respondees! Tag: Global Address in OWA Tag: 148298

View permissions
Is there a way to have an Exchange folder where you lock down views so that
users are not able to change and add views?
What I am looking to do is mimic record level permissions using a field on a
form that designates who can see that item, then create views for each users
with a filter based upon that field.
In other words, I have 100 contacts in a folder 30 that are Mike's, 40 that
are Jane's and 30 that are Jack's. What I want to do is set it up so that
each person can only see their contacts.

HELP! Cannot install Exchange on new server after removing from ol
Hello,
We had an exchange 2003 enterprise server running on w2k3 as a member of

We used the ms artical on how to remove exchange and deleted the mailboxes
and then used add remove programs to uninstall exchange from the member
server. Now we have installed W2000 server sp4 and I am attempting to install
exchange, however, it gets an error when trying to even run forestprep, that
you must have exchange full permissions etc. well, exchange is gone, And even
from the domain controller I cannot run forestprep (same error) , I went
through the ms article to use adsi and remove exchange from ad, however the
item they wanted me to remove doesn't exist. If anyone has an idea it would
be greatly appreciated!
