Hi all,

We are working on a new network and consider to place a front-end
Exchange2003 server.
There are several security possibilities
firewall - front-end - firewall - backend
firewall- front-end/isa-server - backend

Has anyone have another solution,
Has anyone experience with such a configuration and doe s this need more
maintenance. Thank you for your opinion.

First of all, a good reading:
"Exchange Server 2003 and Exchange 2000 Server Front-End and Back-End
Topology"
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6F7937E4-AB7C-42D1-BB8D-04B8E64F7EAC&displaylang=en

I would recommend:

Firewall - ISA - Firewall - Front-end/Back-end
or
Firewall - ISA/Front-end/Back-end
