I'm running Exchange 2003 with OMA & OWA all on one
server. OMA & OWA are work fine from the external
network using the domain name the we have registerded
(mail.abc.com).

But with I try to access mail.abc.com from the internal
LAN a can not access OMA or OWA. I'm assuming something
on my firewall is blocking this access but i just don't
want to start opening ports. I can ping the the site
with no problems. Please help

Thanks

Tim

If you can access the sites by their names from outside you should be
able to do the same from the inside assuming that your DNS on the
inside is providing the same information as the DNS on the outside.

Make sure you have added "mail" to your DNS Forward Lookup Zones and that it
points to your internal server.

Instructions (just incase)

1.) Open DNS, double cick foward lookup zones
2.) Right click on your domain, go to "New Host (A)"
3.) Put MAIL in the name and then your server IP address in the space.
4.) Click Add host.

You need to add the mail.abc.com to your DNS host entries.

If your internal FQDN is abc.com and you external is the same, then you need
an entry of "mail" in your host records and give it the external ip address
of the server.
