I have been having a lot of trouble using this configuration, I can't get
smtp to send, but after installing a cheap 'n cheerful alternative, I found
that I had to disable the smtp service for this to work, does Exchange use
it's own smtp service or require the Windows one to work?

Thanks

RE: Win 2000 / Exhange 2003 - smtp server by Kenwood

Hello Jason,

Exchange 2000 and above uses a mixed SMTP system. IIS has it's own SMTP server (which
is requred to be pre-installed for Exchange to install) and is complete in and of itself. Once
Exchange is installed, it changes the SMTP service under IIS. It creates two SMTP pieces, that
create one service - there is an ISS Snub and Exchange Snub.

I hope that answers your question.

Thank you for your post.
